The owner has taken great care of the car as it used to be his daily driver and received all its services at my shop. He is not as physically capable now and the low seating position is a problem. The car has been at my shop for a year while he decided to sell or keep the car. The L28ET conversion was done approximately 15 years ago and has never used even 1 quart of oil between changes. It starts on the first compression stroke, every time! The engine is all stock and has not been modified. The turbocharger is quiet and boost is 6 psi. The AFM cover is missing, presumably was lost on I-5 somewhere, during a road trip. The 5-Speed is from a 1978 280Z. It shifts great and there is no bearing noise. The clutch is from a 280ZX Turbo and is OEM. The differential is original and the U-joints are in good condition. The brakes are new, including master cylinder and both wheel cylinders. The struts are low mile and are KYB Gas-Adjust. The tires are new with 20 or so miles on them. The paint is in nearly perfect condition and is not justified by these pictures. If you have questions about any bodywork or rust, please call and I can go over what repairs were done when the car was painted. The floor pans are in amazing condition as are the frame rails. There are more pictures of the underside of the car, please inquire for these. The battery is new and all of the electrical bits work, including the 8 Track! If you have any questions regarding more details about this car, please contact me @ 253-565-9823 between 10am and 10pm PST. Quote

Administrators gav240z Posted June 4, 2016 Author Administrators Posted June 4, 2016 This '69 510 2-door with SR20DET etc sold for $US45,510 which is some kind of record surely. http://bringatrailer.com/listing/1969-datsun-510/ Another sign of increasing classic Japanese car values. I'm a bit surprised with that 1, nice build but more of a resto-mod. A lot of the cars that have been hitting bigger money have been original examples. But yes another sign. I can't help but think there is a bit of a shift in the collector car community, away from exotics that are a fortune to maintain and require specialist care, more toward simple, tractable, reliable cars that can be enjoyed whenever the mood is right. Basically cars that can be easily maintained by the home mechanic without sophisticated tools or diagnostic equipment and are easy to work on. This may explain why early Air Cooled Porsche's are doing well, along with the Japanese stuff which in many cases is easy to tinker with but also dead set reliable.. Quote

Administrators gav240z Posted June 16, 2016 Author Administrators Posted June 16, 2016 2 Door 510 http://www.ebay.com/itm/1971-Datsun-510-/122016553460 Sold for $18,000 USD on eBay. Up for sale is my 50,000 mile pristine '71 Datsun 510 very seldom seen in this rare beautiful white w/blue interior. This car sold new as many did with no radio as most we're installed by the dealer at time of sale. What is rare is the fact that for the past 45 years it still has never had a radio! It still has the original dash blanking plate and rubber plugs for the antenna on the right windshield post. I of course chose to leave it this way. Everything was done in this very thorough restoration with originality being top priority. It's near perfect body with zero rust and faded original paint was given a fresh base-coat/clear-coat paint job in the original (904) Ivory White. Every facet of this car if needed has been rebuilt using new or NOS parts when available. It's even riding on a set of original type NOS bias ply whitewalls that really give it a time-capsule look. For everyday driving or short trips I use another set of original 13" rims with radial whitewalls & full hubcaps(both sets included in sale of car). I drive this car in nice weather only and it runs and drives like a new one. I have only driven it 800 miles in nearly 3 years! It really should be in a museum but could certainly be driven everyday if that is your wish. Most of these vintage '68-'73 Datsun 510's you see for sale have had engine/trans conversions or have rust or are in non-original condition or all of the above. This is as close to bone stock as I've ever seen. The dash pad, tunnel carpet & vinyl floor mats are original too. It's expensive and extremely labor intensive to take a 510 to this level. All that being said, I am offering this one at a 'Buy-it-Now' price of way less than I have invested. Thanks for looking! Not long ago that was the upper end for similar S30Z's. Now 510's are catching up. Still cheap in my opinion. Quote

Administrators gav240z Posted June 25, 2016 Author Administrators Posted June 25, 2016 http://www.ebay.com/itm/Datsun-Z-Series-/201604274689 1972 Datsun 240z Current Bid: $20,000 USD (42 bids) and 1 day to go. Reserve not met. I own a restoration shop and this is a car I am selling for a customer. The man that owns it is simply too old to drive it any more. He bought it with 2000 miles on it in July of 1973 and the original California title still shows that. It is the square "Pink Slip" style. This car has never been out of California. He had it re-painted and upholstered in the early 1990's and it looks like it was finished last week. Extremely high end paint and detail to finish. The car is spectacular. I will list below what I see and know about this Datsun 240z. Engine and Drivetrain... The mechanics have never been out of the car so what you are seeing is the original engine compartment. It is VERY clean and leaks nothing. There is some dirt in certain places from being driven 90 thousand miles. A couple of days would make it showable. The clutch, transmission, steering and brakes have no issues. I would have the carburetors rebuilt. They work fine and do not leak but I think it could run better if overhauled. It pops lean sometimes and has a little flat spot around 2200 RPM. Otherwise, completely drivable. The owner told me it uses about 1/2 a quart of oil between oil changes. Three thousand mile intervils. The Body and Paint.... WoW! This car has been in California all it's life and it shows. There is not a spec of rust anywhere and it has never been in an accident. This is not just one of the finest Z's I have seen, it one of the finest cars I have seen. The 20 plus year old retoration is as near perfect as you can have. There are 4 pepper flake sized dings on the right side of the car that the "Dent Doctor" could take out without touching the paint. The man that painted the car had knees because there are no bald spots at the bottom edges of the body. Very showable and looking like it was 1972 again. A 10 out of a 10. The Interior..... Here is where I am going to tell you about flaws. The clock does not work and the light that shows you the flashers are on has been pushed in a 1/4 inch and does not light. Everything else is 100%. Seats, carpeting, headliner, door panels, dashpad, gauges.. Like new. The Glass.... All Nissan and perfect. Scratchless and no pits. In the tool boxes behind the seats, everything is there as seen in the photos. . If you are looking for one of the finest early Z's it is this one. Fun to drive, rocket to look at and needing almost nothing. By the way, I have the original wheels in the boxes that go with the car. If you would like to see and drive the car, I am about 15 miles east of Sacramento up highway 80 going towards Reno, Nevada. Please call Bruce or Skyler at 916-652-6852 weekdays. On Jun-23-16 at 12:01:59 PDT, seller added the following information: Adding information to the ad...... The tires are Pirelli's and although in like new condition they were made in 1997. I would recommend a new set of tires before driving much. Quote

Administrators gav240z Posted July 1, 2016 Author Administrators Posted July 1, 2016 Super Samuri for sale. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/1973-Datsun-240Z-Super-Samuri-/231996943464 Details to follow shortly. For sale with Barons Auctions on Tuesday 12th July Barons Connoisseurs Classic Car Collection Auction at Tattersalls, Newmarket. CB8 9BT UK Datsun 240z Super Samuri raced by Jack Phare First purchased in 1973,it was only 8 months later that Jack Phare took this 240z to Spike Anderson, the creator of Big Sam, and the Super Samuri, for its Samuri Conversion, into one of the first of only 6 Road-legal racers ever built by Spike. It was converted by race head services, a full year before Win Percy and Big Sam's 1974 legendary modsports championship. After its brief sprint career it was then sold on to a young, deep-saturation, diver who used his first pay packet to get it. He drove it infrequently, as he was abroad working, often for months at a time, and eventually, after some fault with the brakes, in1985, it was garaged at his home in Edinburgh, with the view to repairing, and restoring it, at a future date. Life often has other plans for us though, and it was left until sadly, he passed away. When his widow eventually thought to have her garage back, late in 2014, she sought out a car restorer to take it on. However, not realising exactly what it was, she was advised it would cost too much to restore an old Datsun! It then came back to the south of England, to its current owner, who has sympathetically restored, and recommissioned it, to its original Super Samuri race livery and standard. This time-warp car, after much research and authentication by Spike Anderson, in his words is "one of the earliest Sams, and is very original". Even down to the Timing Clock bracket still mounted on the dash. Spike also fondly remembered the young Jack Phare, coming to the factory with his father. Authentically sign written, by hand, with gold leaf, and the race-drivers name, this car sits on its original, polished,1973 Wolfrace alloy wheels, with Toyo tyres, Janspeed exhaust and manifold, original Mota lita steering wheel, triple webber carbs (40's),original discs and lockheed Ap 4 pot calipers, stiffened suspension (originally Koni sport now tokico illumina five way adjustable shock absorbers), early close ratio 5 speed gearbox, energy suspension bushes, competition reinforced chassis, and Spike's head work, of course. Showing just 8,045 miles, the owner humbly denies that it is in concourse condition, but advises that it's not far from it. In fact other examples seen recently are a little put to shame - it not only looks the part and sounds the part, it is absolutely ready to play the part, in historic races, or rallies, of The 70's modsport champion. Administrators gav240z Posted July 2, 2016 Author Administrators Posted July 2, 2016 1970 red Datsun 240Z - Series 1 project - $2000 (Salem) https://salem.craigslist.org/cto/5662868098.htmlHLS30-03492L24-006518Build Date: 4/70 I am selling a 1970 Datsun 240Z. It has 126,225 miles. It was parked due to a spun rear crank bearing, sadly not long after the engine was replaced with a unit from a later model year. I have tried but have been unable to locate the original engine. I think I have the original transmission because I have the one installed in the car and an extra transmission that was in the rear cargo area. It is an early 1970 model- early enough that it has a single-sided key, rather than double-sided. The VIN is HLS30-03492. Vin tag and engine tag pics are at the end. The paint is original and the color tag for the paint is still in place near the radiator. This car has been retrofitted with dual Weber carburetors. It also has some aftermarket wheels and I don't have the original wheels. The driver seat has been replaced with a Recaro seat from that era. I have pulled it out as the floor under the seat has rusted through. Speaking of rust, I've tried to highlight the worst rust areas in the pictures. I can take more pictures this evening and email them out, but the best thing would be to come look at the car yourself.Unfortunately, I can't get the passenger-side door or the rear hatch to open. They are not rusted shut, but seem to be locked and want to stay locked. Both windows roll down. Quote
