Just a warning with that link, allow yourself 4 hours as once you start you can't stop.

Not sure if this link has been posted before or if this is the right spot for it. http://www.thedrive.com/article/1918/why-you-need-to-buy-a-datsun-240z

A bare L28 block and head not going and no history would be worth about $400-500 needing rebuilding a complete going motor that you can see running with no known history would be easy $800.00 with bolt on. if it has 240z round carbs, + $3-4 hundred, if exhaust is extractors add $200.00 If the motor has history of receipts for rebuild the motor could be worth $5000.00 depending work done could be more, The auto would be worth about $50.

Cars For Sale (3rd Party Sites) Ebay, Carsales etc..
Patch replied to gav240z's topic in Cars For Sale
The above lime green one was trying to sell on a FB page with expressions of interest said it had been in a flood, but the gumtree add doen't not mention it. -
Yes thats his name, I think this is the vidio here but it is in french, another old guy does the roof, S30 maybe thinner but can't see why it would not work, you could even glue it the same way but a lot easier to make up. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0DD7IWLLPnQ

For what it is worth I have seen videos' where they pop rivet a piece of metal under the roof, so you cut a panel so it is the right shape and fit and go around and pop both piece together, this way you get a nice cold fit with no distortion, now when the shape is right you now tack in between the pop rivets spreading the heat around the whole roof and slight tapping to keep it straight as you go, you keep going tacking until all done, then remove the rivets and fill those holes up, finish welding and grind. Videos' were done by one of those custom car shows that was on tv with some of the great custom car guys of all time where they only had a certain time to do the car, in this video they cut and chopped the roof. One of the guys was a little old hunched up man who always has a fat cirgar in his mouth, very famous custom guy, can't think of his name. I found a picture of him.

a 77 mini mustang on ebay in Baywater Victoria he was asking 2.5k on rusty wrecks fb page http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/-/262060537122 1977 Toyota celica liftback "mini mustang" body is fairly rough with a few rust spots so would suit a full restoration but car is almost fully only missing a couple of small interior pieces. Has not been started for a few years but still turns over so motor shouldn't need much work to get her running.. Any questions please txt only on 0431139263 located Bayswater VIC.

I painted my 2+2 pretty close to this colour it came out about 1990-95 on the Toyota Supra, it was only new then so I had to get the code from a new car I was test driving as the parts department would not give me the code, sorry don't know what it is now, but it should be on paint books now, it was not then.

I joined a FB group the other day, and somebody asked wanting to buy old Datsun's 120y etc, A guy popped in with a 240z complete car with some structural rust, The guy asking said no he did not like the zds and preferred 120y or 240k, 180b etc nobody seemed interested in the zd either, I pm the guy and he is selling it for somebody else and wants $2500. or offer, but it is up near Cairns.

That's a no from me.

The reason for mentioning those cars, was I was amazed at how much the market has come down on performance cars, they would have been double that a year ago, this car presents well and has all the makings of archiving a high price 35-45k if finished, but when you look at the price the 2+2 on e-bay with the rb in which still hasn't sold of 7k, and the price of Tim's LS 240 only getting well under 20k over a year ago, after looking at all the photos and comments, I would still be surprised if it goes over 18k sold as is not on the road.
-
My estimate was based on what I thought it would sell on e-bay on todays market with what was provided at the time and only 2 photos. Is it fair to say a car is only worth what somebody is willing to pay. I looked at a very nice 95 Nissan skyline GTR factory low ks with log books, sold no reserve for 15k,GTS selling for as low as 5k, Club sports and Senators with low ks having trouble getting 8k, SLK230 low ks sports convertible having trouble getting 8k, not sure if you have been following the market, but no one has any money. This car had no mention of Mode plates, and was wanting a estimate selling as is with all known problems.no rego or WRC, I also stated if the car was fixed up it could go for 25k-45k depending condition and finding the right buyer, How long will that take.?, If you are forced to sell as is expect the worst, most of you are offering a price of what you feel it is worth Bad points about the car, sold as an unfinished project, (no idea what it will cost to finish) It was stated the diff needed replacing, ( has the car been thrashed ) The floor as been coated in tar,(is that to hide the rusted floors) Photos needed of under carpets. It had a paint job in 1999 and has rust bubbles coming though the back, (how well was the rebuild, are you sitting on a time bomb) photos of rebuild will show what is under the paint Has only owned the car for 4 months, (why is he selling it, has he found it is full of rust or huge problems with drive line) photos of rebuild and rego and on the road will help ease these concerns. So there are just a few concerns that buyers would want to know, that will reflect what a bidding price some one will go to on a unknown car of what will it cost to get this car back on the road, If the car is good it would be well worth your while to get it fixed and on the road with all photos and cert. How many saying it is worth over 25k as is with known problems actually have the money and have offered to buy it now.
-
That's good then and would put the price up straight away, most people who will look at buying this and paying good money will want it turn key and drive away, the more they have to do will bring the price down, not sure if you noticed I don't think the wheels are doing anything for the car, I would have no problems paying $100 for them to use to roll my car around and use to paint the car in paint booth and throw in the bin when finished painting it, I suggest you have a look in the photo gallery and see what difference a nice set of wheels make or even see if you can swap or buy some nicer ones.
-
It is very hard to price without looking at it or seeing the money shots but, Just a rough guest with what you have shown if stuck on e-bay on a no reserve auction with todays market with the car sold as is, no rwc, rego, or mod plates for the seats and motor suspension and brakes I would say it would get about 12k with a lot of watches, a change of wheels, I would say 15k, if you fixed it up on the road rego and plated with wheel change and photos proof of rebuild under paint, depending how good it looked inside and engine bay, and how low the vin number is, anywhere from 25-45k depending how long you wanted to wait to find the right buyer. Hope this gives you a guide, it would be well worth your while to fix the small things you see.

Just something about New Zealand and Japanese exports that may mean nothing or may do, but I bought a Suzuki GN400L about January 1979 supposedly 3 came into the country as dealer samples, I ended up trading it in later that year after dropping in the gravel for a new GS1000s that had just came out in 1979, the Gn sat in the workshop for months as the parts book was not even out yet to order parts for it, if you Google the bike it was produced from 1980- 1982. NZ was a known testing ground for early release of lots of new things to the market. Did they get a early release of the 240.
