Hi Dave, sadly the market has fallen for toys, and cars are not fetching good money anymore, Without seeing pictures and going by your description,saxon's quote of 4k is probably a little on the high side, to get that it would need to have very little rust and be a driving car. 2+2 do not fetch the same sought of money as the 2 seater. A lot depends on how quick you want to sell it, and if it drives and rust. I would suggest e-bay with a low starting price and set a reserve to give you an idea of interest. I have seen good cars on ebay that are project cars, pulled apart, and they take 3-4 times on e-bay to fetch $800-$1500. A top of the range 2+2 that may have had 20k spent on it will take a while to get 10k or over for it. So if you are expecting over 4k ,in that condition you will need a very keen buyer, and be prepared to sit on it for awhile for him to come. I have a 74 2+2 sitting in my shed, that was my daily driver, and it would be worth about $200.00 for scrap metal. Only reason I am keeping it,is spares and it has my 240 motor in it. Good luck.

Not sure what your question is, but sumps are changed all the time for engine conversions, I have done heaps and easy to do your self, the best way to keep it straight is to bolt it down to either a plate or old engine block as it will warp with welding, most of mine that I shorten the height I added space out the sides with a nice curve upside down 9 shape to allow for the extra oil.

Shame to see you need to let it go, What sought of times did it end up getting after you fixed the clutch.

If you do have bubbles and you loose water, it can be a cracked head, compression super heats the water . I would try a bottle of Chemiweld before starting to pull things apart, I managed to get 5 years out of Cressida with a bottle each year. It was pouring water out the exhaust, blowing water out the radiator, and oil in the water and water in the oil, running on a couple of cylinders sick as, 5 min's after treatment runs fine. My Bob cat has now gone 5 years with one bottle.

Tim if you look at the one I done above it looks fine, look at where the pipes are to your tank, but when I try and put one on your rear end with your pipes so high it doesn't work and shows the bottom white and tank. BTW yours looks a lot better now with the 4 pipes, just needs chrome tips and the right pipes to line up the same.

I quite like the look of it.

Welcome Hezath, Bought the same thing as the first car we we landed here 1986, Mine was a 260c with 3 speed manual on the tree with a electric Rear side shopping window that opened with a key from the outside. Was a great car and I used it as my mobile tool box for work until the clutch went on it. It did not suffer the rust as the z cars did.

I have got a mate who is right into Zds and a car and bike nut, He has an RX2 coupe and is looking for another 240z to take back with him. He is going back to Japan to live and speaks Japanese quite well, he teaches English there, he just left today to go to New Zealand, he will be back here next Weds and then going back to Japan about a week later. So if he will be any good, work out what questions you need to ask.

If you replace the starter motor and not check the battery by jump stating by another car, you will not be the first to do so. Very common and catches a lot of people. In Winter especially a known good battery can start a car allow you to drive it and not allow you to restart it 5 min's later, when they drop a cell they can do so very quickly, and they can still show they have 12 volts, but when you try to crank they drop down to say 8 volts, just enough to allow a click of the starter motor, if you turn the lights on to check if the battery is flat, it will still show fine until you put a large load on like trying to start.

Can also be a dud battery, it may say 12 volts but when you try and start it, it has no guts and the voltage drops way down and all you get is a click, before you get to involved try jump starting. Battery's die with the cold weather if they are getting on a bit.

Hi Thriller, I personally like the 240z motor, but a lot in your choice is how you want to drive it and how much money you want to speed. The 240z motor with a sports cam triple webbers and extractors will give you a 6 sec car and 14.6 to the 1/4 mile and top speed of 145mph, it will be alot of fun to drive and likes to rev,lower bottom end tork, It is like driving a race car and needs lots of driving to keep it in it's rev range. If you want to spend lots of money and drive with your arm out the window and take a Sunday drive with the wife with a powerful motor with lots of tork you can make a 280 perform as well.The 280 motor was used in 4x4 and family type vehicles, in standard form they are a pig of a motor but can go well if you spend lots of money on them. I have a ZXR750 bike and a Harley 1340, the zxr is by far a more fun bike to ride with it's short stoke and loves to rev, the Harley is more suited if I want to ride long distances with a group of slow riders.

Pretty sure you can just swap the rails, it was 20 years ago, and it was only done as a temporary fix, as the seats were to go back in my 240z so I wouldn't have modified anything.

I am pretty sure 99.9% that you can just swap the side brackets on both seats they are the same mountings. I put my 240z seats in my 74 2+2 20 years ago by putting in the reclining action of the 2+2 .
