  1. I have been looking for a roof cut in the right city and prices I have seen are $750-$1000 interstate 1000ks away. so I would pay $750 for the roof. Do you want to share where you saw it, if you don't want to pay that much.
  2. If he doesn't know what it is worth, it would be hard to sell just from passing traffic, you would be lucky to get $200. but if you know what it is worth and advertise to the right people it could be worth just as much as this smashed front bare shell for sale on this site for $3.500 . http://www.viczcar.com/forum/index.php/topic,9627.0.html
  3. Here is one to compare with no motor or box but some parts. sold for $4.250 http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/NISSAN-DATSUN-240Z-UNFINISHED-PROJECT-LIKE-260Z-280Z-TR-/270815478292?pt=AU_Cars&hash=item3f0ddc4214&clk_rvr_id=275437361957
  4. 240 tail lights on ebay now going cheap. there is also a guy selling a tail door and some one asked if he has more parts , he replied yes
  5. nothing wrong with the handling, just women find them too hard to steer in car park stuff. I have a 240 and the 2+2 and if i fixed it she did not want to drive it, so we bought a 1998 306 convertible for $3.500. + rego for her.
  6. Having looked at all the photos and been watching what the market is at I would say your car would sell for about 3-4k tops, If you spent the 5k to fix it it would be worth 8-10k turn key. 260z 2+2 are very heavy in the steering and women don't like that about them.
  7. $2000 would get you a 260z 2+2. this one is near you. Normally you would pay about 4-5k for what you want. there is a cheap one in Victory at the moment but will cost approx $800 to transport it up here. http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/74-Datsun-260z-2-2-and-76-Shell-/140605070502?pt=AU_Cars&hash=item20bcb71ca6
  8. 240Z unfinished project on ebay no motor or box most other parts are there,$4000, starting bid 1 hour north of Sydney. nice wheels. http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/NISSAN-DATSUN-240Z-UNFINISHED-PROJECT-LIKE-260Z-280Z-TR-/270815478292?pt=AU_Cars&hash=item3f0ddc4214
  9. I see there is Ferrari 250 GTO Look Alike - 240z Project Kit Car on ebay at the moment. I looked at one of these years ago for sale in Gold coast a high end car sales had it for 60k, at the time I thought it was a great idea, and had thoughts my self doing the same, thinking a 240z would never really be worth much , but doing this it would, What are your thoughts on these kit cars, They don't seem to sell well in other cars. http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=190572170060
  10. The site I got the link from reckoned it was real, now if you had of meet my step son you could believe it, He was 32 when he pulled up at home with the front brakes smoking and locked on, I had a quick look and the oil in the master cylinder was red, I said very easy fix just go to a wrecker and buy all new brake parts and flush all the lines, between cones him and his mate decided oil is oil. Last week a friend of mine lent her ute to a neighbor and he was unsure what to put in it for fuel, so he pulled into a garage and asked the mechanic, he looked under the bonnet and said it is petrol, they did 200ks with petrol in a diesel motor , luckily nothing was damaged,so yes these people are amongst us.
  11. I think it needs water added into the mix, as it would be to dry and bind up too much.
  12. I am on a few other forums and came a cross this, somebody here may be able to help. Hey guys, please help with my mods gone wrong..... Hey guys, I've got a 98 1.8T. I've had a k04 and chip for a while and wanted to get more performance. I was recommended to port and polish the intake and exhaust. We found out they used abrasive material to do it like gritty sand. So I got with my friend that tunes Hondas and we decided to try it ourselves. We got a bag of sandblasting sand and hooked up into the intake and started the car. We had to hold the gas so it would run. He wanted to let the engine suck in the sand through the intake so it would port it out and then push it out the ehxaust so it would port the exhaust manifold. I was worried that it might cause problems but he figured it'd be OK as long as we didn't make boost and it get sucked in the turbo. After running the car and letting it suck in sand we got about half way through a 25 lb bag. The check engine light was on and the engine was bucking and kicking and sounding really weird. We stopped and hooked the car back up normal and took off the sand supply. We tried to start it again and it was really hard. Once started it couldn't idle and kept making weird noises. We took it out and drove it and it started to make scraping and knocking noises. Help! Can anyone tell me what to do! My buddy only does Hondas so he doesn't know much about Audis. link. http://www.audiforums.com/forum/off-topic-5/hey-guys-please-help-my-mods-gone-wrong-80267/
  13. There was a LHD shell for sale up in Brisbane, he wanted about 3.5k for it was good and had been blasted, it passed in and did not sell, I contacted him to buy the roof, could track down number if you wanted.
  14. There is no way a wrecker would pay that much, insurance is hoping to get as much back as they can, if it went up for tender or auction it would get nothing like that, If you want it that bad I would bid on it at the auction, judging what a mate is picking stuff up for top price would be a grand.
  15. Well reading 4 pages of the urban dictionary Melbourne must be an entertaining place near Mc Donald's . pmsl
  16. There is one on e-bay at the moment. http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Datsun-Nissan-240Z-260Z-280ZX-Electronic-Distributor-/140594839666?pt=AU_Car_Parts_Accessories&hash=item20bc1b0072
  17. Hi Gav, from a newbie and my self belonging to a bike forum that is self moderated keeping this Kama stuff is going to be a lot of trouble, giving somebody away to stab you in the back with out any body knowing who it was, On the bike forum if somebody is a tool they are told so and sometimes it may explode into something but the fact it is not removed it shows other the real person be hide the screen, when ever you have a problem with some one you should only say what you would to their face as one day you may all meet. This bike forum was started because the other forum we all belonged to was over moderated and members got kicked off for very little reason. It would be years now that we had a big blow out and works fine, Mods are only used to correct site problem, clearly kids are going to get upset if somebody has more gold stars than them. As to these naughty boys, one bad star each and one gold star each for coming forward, I would have more respect for somebody who told me to my face they have a problem with what I said.
  18. Bit lost with this Kama thing, is it like when the 6 year old brings a gold star home for being a good girl at school, and the more Kama points means you have been a good girl at school, If you are going to have a gold star you should keep the bad stars as well, because the 6 year old brings bad stars home as well, other wise how will they know if they have been bad at school. First place I have come across with this, just fascinated how it works.
  19. Personally this matter of modified or standard, I like both and seeing these new motor setups has renewed my interest in keeping my car as the sale fell though, although these are nice examples, there is only certain cars worth keeping standard. http://zhome.com/IZCC/ZRegisters/VintageZ.htm. If you don't have matching numbers I feel it would be more attractive to other people with these new mods, when I bought mine in 1986 there was no way you would think of sticking in a Skyline or BMW. these new motor set ups would bring others not interested before into the market. There was too many of these cars made and even though they are coming up in price, I think it would still be along time, I have stored mine 20 years after starting my rebuild and I only kept it because I believed one day they would come good. Looking on this site there is some really nice cars and after I finish my house I will restart on mine. But to try and sell one now the market has crashed in the last few months and toys are the first things that goes out the door, and a buyers market. Just as an example A guy in my bike club just bought a 2008 Harley Electra glide new price was 38k the guy spent 20k on it, needed the money and my mate bought it for 15k. 6 months ago he should have got 28-30k for it.
  20. There has always been a stigma with Jap crap within the car and bikes made in Japan, There is only a couple of Jap bikes that are worth some money for a 20 year old bike in compassion to as I have a 20 year old Harley, The Harley kept with old technology and keep their price, where the japs had a far better technology and only the Kawsaka jaffa Z900 holds any collectable value.others are worth bugger all for a restored model. Years ago when I had my 240z running I was in a VL group A that belongs to the son-law, it has the fully worked motor, he was giving it a boot full trying to impress me, I said if you like fast cars I should take you for a spin in the 240Z, The look on his face was shear disgust , to compare mine with his, mine would have pissed all over it. He kept it and is worth about 90k going by Sharons, I have noticed Australia collectable cars are based on what raced at Bathhurst. He also has a HQ 4 door GTS, going by Sharons worth about 35k.So his choices have worked out well, I have kept my 240z since 1986 and it would only be worth what it was for sale then. As for this car the way the market is at the moment I don"t think it would be worth any more than 3k tops. It is a buyers market now and good bargains are coming up.
  21. While reading this noticed 48guests and 3 members. says it all.
  22. Personally if none of the sections are locked, and you are only interested in looking, what would be the point of joining up, so less people to help pay for the site, personally not a good decision. In my own case I googled and found this site because I wanted to sell my 240z, the only reason I joined up was to post that, after that I had a look around and liked what I have seen, The sale fell though and this site has given me the encouragement that I may one day finish my project and decided to keep it for now until I finish the house. I also have a 306 Cab for the lady, I needed to know stuff and found another forum that was locked, no big deal I joined to get the information I wanted, and have stayed and have a read most days, yet another site would not accept my only email address a yahoo account which I have used for years,I have never bothered with applying again with another address. This site is the only one I belong to that doesn't have a members only section. If it makes members feel safer can't see the problem. But security is in the hands of the poster.
  23. [quote I thought the increase in displacement from 2.4lt to 2.6lt was achieved by increasing the stroke. Wouldn't putting the crank from an L24 into a L26 just reduce the displacement to 2.4lt? Regards Peter Yes it does the 260z motor is a lazy motor and heaps slower than the 240 motor, with the shorter stoke the car gets up and goes and a lot more fun to drive, you can also put the crank and rods into the 280 motor gives you a bigger bore shorter stoke motor than can rev better.
  24. Nice white 240Z on E-Bay at the moment NSW http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Datsun-240z-2D-Coupe-/220819709727?pt=AU_Cars&hash=item3369e15f1f
