  1. MCA struts = serious you know.
  2. Damm that looks the goods, a lot of pent up knowledge gone into it aero and all
  3. G nose at the very least will reduce drag and lift so worth while if serious.
  4. Hard to keep up with this, fast build fast car.
  5. Latest new is that LSX-280 has been on the dyno and delivered 430 rwhp which is about right for a new motor with a 520 engine hp cam. Haltech Elite doing full sequential and drive by wire. Next is fitting the special 4L85E auto, for a start it has a triple plate lock up, and tuning the controller. A dummy fit showed that the big lump went in with only a bit of easily fixed tunnel interference which is great as this is all pioneering stuff going on here. After fitting will come tuning the controller, all shifting will be manual by either a centrally mounted sequential lever or else it will have steering wheel mounted paddle shifters. Either will suit. That's about it, getting the car back will be brilliant, just watching the Zed blokes at Morgan park yesterday hurt
  6. This could well be a threat to a certain red rb zed
  7. Bit of a bump, still for sale? Seems to be very good value to me.
  8. My opinion is that the sale price of such a car very much depends on what can be done with it, now. Not many potential buyers ie those with that sort of money to spend, will want a car that is basically an orphan as far as race classes go. If only because there are other orphans around that offer substantial bang for buck. It is stupid that there is not a suitable racing class for cars like this but that's the way it is.
  9. To each their own but I can't see that a E30 would be 'tinker proof' and they are not exactly cheap either are they. More civilised than a rorty S30 though.
  10. It would have been interesting to see what would have happened if the S30 was offered at a price more in line with other comparable sports cars. No doubt that prejudice would have come into it but perhaps also a bit more respect. Let's face it, the price of a new car has a lot to do with how many buyers see a potential purchase, in today's new car market price is often determined by what the opposition is selling something comparable for and not by what it's cost to build which I think illustrates the point.
  11. Good thread, it's nice to read real car enthusiast comment without the fanboi now drivel. It's taken a long time for the S30 to be recognised as a classic enthusiast's car and not just a cheap Jap car to use, abuse and throw away. When you think about it the S30 suffered in reputation simply because the Japanese were able to manufacture cars more efficiently than the British for example and so were able to sell them at relatively cheap prices. Perhaps they would have been better off making fewer and selling them at a higher price. Then they would have been valued more by owners and so more likely to have been better looked after and maintained.
  12. What amazes me is the difference in price between beetle Porsches and the 944 the prices for which vary wildly but go nowhere near the beetles. A reasonable 944 can be had for under $10k, cheaper than a sound S30. But of course real men drive beetles not 944's
  13. Wow, this is going to be interesting.
  14. No way will Nissan/Renault develop a new engine for any new Zed so start looking at what they already have on the shelf engine wise. The only NA that would work if they are serious about performance would be a all alloy LSx type V8 which the Japanese would never even consider so it will end up with some four cylinder thing with the mandatory number of cams and valves.
  15. By themselves then yeh, too much. Would need to be teamed with the rest of the dash and interior to stand any chance.
  16. That Nissan engineer sounds like he doesn't know the S30 very well at all, almost as if it never existed.
  17. Yep, that's the shape which is at the bottom of the hose which was corrugated and had a 90 degree bend.
  18. Said Jongbloed wheels on the Silver Fox's road rocket.
  19. The pic is not of S30 struts.

    Rear spoiler

Did you look to see what Otomoto have? I doubt that a special 2+2 spoiler would be available though.
  21. You had better look up the Penrite site Jason, they have had some high zinc oils available for a while now
  22. Ages since I'm seen them but I'm pretty sure that the OE drains had a shaped end designed so that the weight of water would open it but other wise it stayed closed. If it didn't then some of the ventilation air from the cowl area would escape. They drain down between the body and the front mudguards.
  23. Drop a LSx into the FD, best of all worlds then
  24. 260GT looks the goods, club member? Quiz. Which car club started the all Japanese car day concept?
  25. I'm glad that the prices for S30's have gone up, in effect what this does is keep out those who won't look after the car so ensuring that the ones which do remain are valued and preserved by their owners. It will be interesting to see in the future how many get seriously modded, my bet is that there will be relatively fewer due to an increasing value being place on originality. As for the later model Zeds, those bloody T tops have killed their value for most. Shame on Nissan Australia for only importing T tops and 2+2's from 1980 on for the S130 and Z31
