  1. E85?? That's opening up the power game, if you take advantage of it and redo the whole fuel system.
  2. Body looks good, if so you are way in front. Present engine is going to be turbocharged?
  3. Does look a bit soft up front, what size is the front bar? Don't know about Sc Zeds but generally a competition S30 needs heavier springs at the front compared with the rear.
  4. Thumb up
  5. My idea centres around a LSx engined Chrysler Crossfire or Mercedes CLK C208 coupe, the latter can be bought for a few K and is the pre Mac strut lighter CLK model. It, like the Crossfire which was derived from the same platform, has multilink rear and double wishbone front suspension. Of course any of the usual Nissan culprits would do too but I like the development part and wasting money S30's are just too expensive now to mod in my opinion, another 280ZX shorty would probably cost $50K all up or more for what I have in mind. For a Sports Sedan a minimum 50mm vertical height difference between the main cage hoop and the driver's helmet is required which knocks out S30's and probably my 280ZX too, Crossfire for sure, the CLK C208 maybe?
  6. On the subject of MX5's there is a Lakeside incar video around from a couple of years ago of a Corvette shark moving through a bunch of MX5 sardines like a boss, corners and all. Lakeside is so much about balls and driver skill, it's a true test of the car/driver combination where lap times say it all.
  7. The 280 should be ready to rumble soon, after a sprint or two to see if the nerve is still holding I'll decide what to do. Would rather risk a CLK or something than the 280 but I ain't getting any younger and building cars takes time.
  8. Speaking of CAMS http://www.speedcafe.com/2015/06/03/national-categories-on-chopping-block-in-cams-review/
  9. Thanks for those Street Racing rules Scando, basically similar to what I was thinking about. Wonder what the procedure is to use them for racing in States outside WA?
  10. No, not Sports Sedans which are quite different and way more expensive for a good one than the class that I propose. No fabricated chassis parts and no engine setback holes in the firewall for a start. Actually I may think this through and come up with a set of draft rules for CAMS. I'm sure that they will be very interested
  11. Sorry but the term 'early girl' is full of gayness and misrepresents the awesomeness of the Zed Carry on, my good deed for the day is done
  12. All that is needed for modified cars like mine is a national set of rules for OE platform cars that can use any production engine they like, basically that's it. That sort of car can be quite cheap to build and maintain and would allow a variety of low cost cars to be modified for racing such as various early 2000 BMW and Mercedes coupes. Put a LSx engine in something like that and you have a pretty quick motor car. Coupes like those mentioned are available for well under $10K, a LSx engine and gearbox from a wrecker for no more than $10K. Problem with CAMS is that they are behind the times as far as recognising the big car mod scene which typically involves what's mentioned above. On the other hand the drifting and drag scenes are right into these sorts of cars. Perhaps that's the problem for CAMS.
  13. I for one would need more certainty, including official published national rules and car specs, before building a modified car to suit a class. It's all right for those who just want to play under local rules if that suits them but otherwise no. It does not help that CAMS in particular are not really interested in grass roots racing to suit all types of cars, despite what they say.
  14. Never heard it mentioned before today, sounds interesting so are there details of the requirements somewhere?
  15. Warren Wadley, dunno, looks like he has graduated from HQ's. Maybe he bought that rough marque 240Z that has been for sale forever. Good thing about QR is that they make up classes for anyone who want's to race.
  16. That's one of the reasons for the question Gav, I guess as PB260Z said plenty of before and during painting pics would be the go.
  17. Thanks blokes, so what colour then? Blue?
  18. Panel shop owner has a 240Z he wants to sell, apparently it's pretty good body wise but I've yet to check this myself. He is thinking of doing some value adding by painting it but I'm not so sure, the market seems to be split between those wanting a nice runner or a restoration project. Minimum price as is, unregistered, would be in the low 20's. What do you all think, as is or new paint?
  19. That's what I was thinking, particularly given your apparent situation as a collector.
  20. So is d3cOy trying to tell us something about himself
  21. A series sprints 24-25 July
  22. Lol you have it bad, I'd be more likely to play
  23. Boring sprints at Morgan Park lol
  24. Next year hopefully, if the Z is amenable. Good luck, will be looking for the vids.
  25. Words fail me
