  1. Yep, in your application engineering wise studs are the best solution. Bolts are the lazy option.
  2. Used some split heater hose on my mine back in the day, with a couple of cable ties to hold it in place..
  3. Studs. Much less risk of stripping head threds too.
  4. Yes, I've seen them fitted to a targa type Z and they look great, would be my #1 choice.
  5. Sounds like a good time was had by all, nice one Aub.
  6. Just as well Morgan Park is closed over Xmas because I'm still waiting for the local guru to do a final check of the auto's functions and to do a engine dyno tune. The idea is to get a local bloke involved to do final checks before venturing on to the track, he has a great reputation so like all such tuners has more work than he can handle. I'm not going to risk the equipment when there is an alternative given the bad experience with the VG30DET donk. In the meantime a new dual element rear wing has been set up and fitted, see pic below which is a bit deceptive, the wing is not as wide as it looks. Rather than have a wide single the idea was to have a narrower dual so it would be operating within the wake of the car which should result in the optimum angle being consistent across the width. Not sure about drag but the idea is to have less anyway. The other job now completed is new cabin air extractor vents in the quarter windows and a sliding window in the driver's door. That window was located as far back as possible to avoid any debris which may enter from hitting me in the face. Yes that did happen once with the original window wound right down.
  7. Yep, that's busted and needs fixing up
  8. OK, so no emissions testing or anything, just make it look like it's all there. Been there
  9. Is that emissions stuff required for a RWC in Victoria? That may sound like a silly question but I don't know and of course it's best to make sure what is required.
  10. Paul's a good bloke and has put in a lot of hard work as ZCCQ prez, this is his second term I think.
  11. Agree for many reasons, most obvious.
  12. Slow down Richard, no need to rush this
  13. Ten minute drive now
  14. Invites are out, as usual there are two series, A and B. Which one is going to be nominated as the Z one for 2016, A series? And what class should my 6 litre road registered 280ZX be nominated for? I'm thinking Modified Production over 3001cc, same as Paul's 300ZX. See you there.
  15. Zeds must have Stan running scared, was wondering if he was in Sc trim.
  16. Yeh, aftermarket adding ZDDP to oil is at best hit and miss, personally I have every confidence that Penrite can supply engine oils for every purpose. Spoke to a tech bloke there a few years ago, they were right on to racing needs and have since released a range of ZDDP enhanced oils for various purposes. They are not the only ones of course, I just prefer to support a good Aussie company.
  17. http://www.motorweek.org/features/goss_garage/too_much_zinc_in_your_oil short expert comment on the amount of zinc needed, too much performs no useful function and can actually be detrimental. Much more relevant to flat tappet engines too. Basically 1,200 PPM is sufficient for running in, 800 PPM after that.
  18. Keep in mind that ZDDP is consumed during engine operation so the PPM is not crucial unless the oil is going to be used for a longer time. And of course ZDDP is only one additive among many, base oil quality is the most important factor too.
  19. No interest in the times? Well, sort of not too bad for the Zeds I suppose. Clubman circuit, fastest targa spec Zed 1:02.303. Stan Adler driving his Group Sc Carrera 2.7 did a 1:00.104.
  20. That pit girl in red certainly belongs Anyway, results. They are up at last http://racing.natsoft.com.au/results/#2
  21. That's what I suspected, bugger them then, too precious. Anyway, someone would have the time sheets so post em up
  22. How come the results are not up on Natsoft?
  23. While I think of it, can someone link me a pro driven in car video of PI? Have looked at Gordo's and Shinisha's which are very helpful as to lines, T2 in particular is of interest but a YouTube search has not thrown up anything of use.
  24. The six hour would be a great way to learn the circuit but that Feb 6-7 event sounds good. Does not leave much time to make sure the 280 is fully track ready, Morgan Park is closed until early 2016. Anyone know if there will be other two day sprint events?
  25. Mix paint with the Porsches too?
