  1. You don't understand If it's sold it must have been a good one that I missed out on, if it's still for sale then it must be a shoot box which I don't want anyway. Keeps the dream alive.
  2. My experience with fish oil is that once it 'dries' it's fine to put a similar solvent based stone guard type product over it. Problem is that it will take ages to get to the tacky stage where something compatible can be applied and stick to it. Forget putting a top coat over it though. Fish oil is good stuff, it gets right into the metal unlike stone guards so there is sense in what old mate suggested.
  3. Competition Coatings do a good job, 1/14 Rodwell, Archerfield, 3277 9123, from my address book.
  4. Another hohum day as far as the auto goes although I got up it a bit more this time and came close to scaring myself which is when the fun is best New brake pads are working well, the big front discs are now blue for the first time ever, used to use A1RM's and Lucas which have nowhere near the bite. The only place to sort this auto out is at the track, dyno and road runs are pretty useless, that should happen on the next practice day. There is absolutely no info of any use around on what we are doing, maybe there is a good reason for that lol.
  5. Being a bugger for punishment it's back to MP tomorrow for 'more practice'. The guru did some more tweaking today but there is still a problem with sequential downshifts, we agree that a gear indicator is essential as it is for all sequential shifts so he is going to look at that. The plan is to use full auto for a while tomorrow to get used to the powertrain and then try sequential later.
  6. And videos to be shown I understand.
  7. Certainly it's on the right track, particularly like the headlight treatment. The rear lights need spacing out, that would probably be a legal requirement anyway, to get the lights nearer the outside. Overall, except for some minor detail, I like it as relevant to what might be the basis for a production car.
  8. Expect to see a certain recalcitrant V8 Zed there, whatever it takes
  9. Be good on a race 240Z, front looks pretty smart.
  10. That's what was ordered Jason, a 32/32, and that's what I'm going to get.
  11. Got a rib protector the other day in anticipation but delivery of the kart has been delayed due to the supply of a 30/30 chassis instead of a 32/32. That's OK, at present the emphasis is on getting the Z track ready so a few weeks for the kart does not matter.
  12. I think that there would be more Zeds doing door to door racing if there was a proper series for them to do so competitively, something like what the SCCA run as shown in the video I linked recently. Anyway, I have yet to experience more exciting motorsports as a spectator than when a bunch of Zeds get into it at the MP sprints, fast and furious is a pretty apt description.
  13. I like 'regretful sale' lol, like I care if you regret selling your car or not. Come to think of it, why do you regret selling your car, is it a dud and you don't want someone else to lose by buying it? How about 'it turns heads' or 'it's a head turner'. Really? Do people turn to look or do they turn to look away? Perhaps someone should collect these cliches and put them in a Car Sellers Book for Dummies
  14. You know, everyone is a used car salesman and certain eye rolling well worn phrases come up regularly. My not so favourite one is first to see will buy Arrrrgh,
  15. Yes Jason, proper race Zeds, not some rule hobbled slow pretender
  16. It will be a Z fest, the ZCCQ is organising a club run to MP too so there will be race and street Zeds there.
  17. Report from the Morgan Park practice. The good includes that the Z actually goes and after two years abstinence the senior driver thinks that he can still turn a wheel. Torque converter which we thought was rubbish seems pretty good, great throttle response and overall powers. New brake pads have lots of bite, way better than anything else I've tried. The bad? Sequential shift was not working at all, it had been on the dyno, so I just drove around in auto pretending to be a race driver. Guru says to get the back wheels up off the ground and try running it through the gears sequentially and then get back to him.
  18. Bloomin heck, stand back
  19. Anyone in Australia import wrecked cars from the US? Import a cheap 2+0 with front end damage and then cut and shut with a Aussie front should be the cheapest way, if you are mechanically able and can get the two parts properly aligned for joining purposes. Finding a decent front here may be a bit of a challenge though. Be an interesting project for those who like messing around but not commercially viable I would think. Not sure how it would go for registration purposes though, a plated four seater with only two seats.
  20. There is a thread on HybridZ about a S30 doing standing start mile speed runs, engine is a virtually stock LS2 which would not be delivering any more power than a a good worked L series. With no aero but running a lot of rake it reached 269kph during the first attempt. He then fitted a front spoiler and splitter and found that the front was being pushed down three inches so the splitter was hitting the track at over 270kph, Just shows the power of aero and how fast the S30 body can be pushed without big power.
  21. Yep, looks like the 25th is the go, for once whatever has to be done to get the Z track worthy is on schedule. Any other Zeds going to be there?
  22. Some relevant comments about the aero effectiveness of several cars including the Z and a Mazda RX3 in this video 10+ minutes in http://www.scca.com/videos/1972570. As they say, the RX3 has awful aero and is very draggy so if a Group Sc RX2 did a genuine 250 at Bathurst, well, 'interesting', my V8 should do 300 The Z has a relatively good slippery shape and small frontal area although Gordo's with the body kit would suffer a little bit there. Power to weight, a Z with just enough aero to negate lift should enable a very good straight line speed.
  23. But it's a PORSCHE engine Someone will buy it then mention the purchase to his mates. Howmuchwasit? Bit of a bargain for a Le Mans engine old chap, just $185k, it will do for a spare
  24. Got any idea at what speed the current wing starts working Gordo? Some start from as low as 80kph but of course downforce increases with speed, I was wondering if the spin at Lukey was induced by the current wing loosing downforce there. If practical one option to reduce drag would be to shorten the current wing, there is also the option to fit a bob tail spoiler in conjunction with a wing like I've done with mine. Easy enough to experiment with it on and off. Same with a twin element wing, remove the small element. Facinating stuff aero.
  25. And here http://www.viczcar.com/forum/topic/11879-richards-620zx-coupe/ As far as converting a +2 into a +0 a cut and shut would be an option, +2 from the A pillar forward.
