I've still got some little items to address to get this just right but that can wait and so I've just been enjoying driving it and took it out to Yarra Valley Chrome Bumpers last Friday. I was approached by a photographer from Street Machine magazine who took my details saying he was keen to run a feature on the car......I was skeptical this would happen but had a call today from Motor Magazine (sister publication) who wanted to run a short online article: https://www.motormag.com.au/features/1802/datsun-240z-sleeper-has-a-bmw-m3-engine Came out pretty well and they even used one of my own photos!

Rome wasn't built in a day Jeff. Family comes first and the pool looks great so don't get dispirited....mine took 7 years. Sure it would have been better if it was shorter but its the end result that counts. Keep at it mate!

Had the same problem. It's hard to produce a "kit" as there were subtle changes through model years. Best to measure each hole diameters and order individually. I went to pick a part trying to match up sizes but gave up after 2 hours. MSA had everything....but not cheap.

No problem Jeff. I was lucky the tyre shop was pretty good about it and they had no issues with swapping at no cost.

Hi Jeff. Caveat: All that follows is based on my ride height (just above the 100mm limit) which is pretty low and 16x8 "0" offset wheels. If you run standard ride height or slightly low you may get away with 225/50/16. As I said, I had interference on the lip (rolled) of the rear guards and the back edge of the front valance panel with 225/50/16 on 16x8 "0" offset wheels and it was pretty severe. On the rear it basically sat on the guard at rest and on the front I couldn't get past 1/3rd lock without the tyre picking up the lip on the back edge of the front valance panel. It just wasn't drive-able at all. Bridgestone don't do a 215 in the RE003's so I had to go down to 205/55/16. I was skeptical when the tyre shop suggested this as I thought it would look too "tucked" (aka Stance works) but it works fine and looks good as the rims sit pretty well flush with the lip, you still see the wheel size and dish but the "tuck" provides the badly needed clearance. I've done 1000km now and haven't heard any rub but a closer look just today confirms a little rub on the rears (up inside the guard not on the lip itself). and slight marks on the back edge of the front valance panel. Even if I could have got 215's I doubt they would work, as far as I'm concerned 205/55/16 is the absolute max size with this combination and ride height. If I had my time again I would definitely go with 6x8 + 4 offset wheels. Lower profile tyres may buy you more room but its more a function of width than height.
