While I would like to track the car on occasional days, I'm also keen to keep it in pristine condition for as long as possible so with the comments regards to stone damage I think I will get a dedicated set of road tyres and then find some shitty rims to mount some "semi's" on at some time in the future. So next question is which road tyre. I've always had good experience with Bridgestones but open to suggestions? Thanks

As per the title, I need to make a decision on tyres. Advice I've had so far says to go with a road/track type tyre otherwise you end up having have two sets of wheels. So what brand and model of tyre? Rims are 16 x 8 +0. Looks like most people run 225/45 but I would prefer 225/50 for a bit more sidewall but there is nearly an inch difference in diameter and I don't want to add to or risk guard interference issues. Whats peoples experience with the 2 sizes? Thanks

Thanks guys. Yes inspection today should be just a formality and yep its a Retrosound aerial. Not Historic plates unfortunately. Because of the extent of modifications it gets "M" or modified plates but otherwise works the same as "H" plates.

Last big job on the list...well the list never really is completed, is it? Fitting the radio and aerial has never been my favorite job, not sure why but working with wires in cramped spaces does that for me. I don't like the look of modern head units in classic cars so went for the Retrosound option. They market a kit for 240-280Z 1970-78 but the fascia panel they supply is not for a 240Z, its close but pretty sure its for a 260Z so I made my own out of 2mm carbon fiber to match the console and I think works pretty well. The fascia panel took a couple of hours to make to get the fit just right but it came out well. The aerial is pretty straight forward as I had already run the aerial cable and twin power cables to the back of the car before the interior went in. Pretty happy with the Retrosound, it has lots of features and is easy to set up. Best part is Bluetooth for music and hands free phone calls which works really well plus two USB ports that have reasonably long cables for phone charging or other devices. BMW Club inspection for the plates tomorrow and then I'm totally legal!

Looking for one of these as my 3.70 with a 1:1 5th gear is a bit frantic...wotcha got?
