I would recommend the guy I used but he has closed down! My brother used this guy http://www.sodablast.com.au/and was very happy. He also does garnet and would be fine to door all of your panels too.

Spot on David! For various reasons this is my preferred location and I didn't want to chop up my pristine original lids so a couple of hours got these made. 35mm hinges from Bunnings were spot on, just had to elongate the holes a fraction. Got the lower door seals and the outer hatch seal fitted. Decided that removing the hatch was the right choice for this, you could do it with the hatch in place but would make it way harder than necessary. Spent a few hours cleaning up my rear interior plastics and they came up pretty well. They were in good condition except the LH rear side which I had to buy from MSA. They haven't replicated the finish very well so it does stand out but once in the car you don't really notice.

Ok, so first to admit I'm not up to speed on this subject but have a pretty good idea what I want. Back story: The opening for the radio in my new reproduction heater control panel from MSA is not correct single DIN size. Its only a few mm smaller in both width and height smaller but I'm not prepared to take a grinder to my $250 piece of plastic as it will be dangerously close to compromising the strength and integrity......so has anyone got suggestions on a smaller more compact head unit? I don't want or need a CD player just FM radio and iPhone compatability with a USB port for charging. Bluetooth preferable but not a must. The other option is to mount a normal single DIN unit somewhere else. The one I've got has a remote but will need to be line of sight to work. I've considered passenger side kick panel or on a bracket under the glove-box, maybe even under the front of the drivers seat??? Suggestions and pics please? Cheers.

Yeah Gav, that's the one I got from you. It came up really well as the rust was only superficial and causing bubbling under the paint. Once stripped and blasted it was very sound still. It was a lot of work but a good investment I think. Thanks Jeff

My Fairlady grille is finally ready to reassemble. I couldn't tell how many hours have gone into this but its a lot, By the time I chemically stripped it and then blasted, primed and had it painted, plus the plating of the hardware and then I had to make the lower outside brackets as my early 240 has the turn-down mounts on the body rather than the turn-up mounts that the later cars had...... and that this grille must have come off. Next up .....it was nice to have to fabricate something for a change, so much more rewarding than cleaning and fitting stuff! I could happily do this sort of stuff all day. All of my BMW electronics are mounted on an aluminium plate on the passenger firewall but I needed to build some protection so that flailing feet in the footwell don't cause electrical mayhem. Pics are self explanatory. Some paint and a bit of foam and rubber tube to insulate and protect the harness saw it finished. Four screws to remove it if I need to.

This /\....they aint that heavy. Drain the oil and pull the tail shaft to make it easier and to avoid having your balls doused in gear oil. Its much easier to manhandle than frig around with jacks etc. especially if the clutch isn't coming off as it should just fall back in.....

Got a pretty decent uninterrupted run at it today. My Speedhut Tacho and Speedo have programming buttons on the front face but the three smaller gauges have remote programming buttons and I had to find somewhere to mount these. I had been contemplating options for a while but once the glove box was installed it became pretty obvious where the best location was! My original heater control panel was pretty sad, broken and the chrome was in pretty bad shape so I went for a new repro from MSA, have to say this is a quality item, looks fantastic and fits as per OEM. My map light trim ring was also broken (pretty common apparently) so I went for the billet aluminium one which was again a quality piece. It all fitted up very well and with the glove box in the dash is now complete....looking like a real car nearly. Heater controls and fan all tested and working as designed. Thought I should tackle the rear hatch inner seal and followed the video instruction from Precison. I've opted for the genuine Nissan seal and very happy with the way it fits. Wasn't as big of a pain as I thought and can highly recommend the 3M weather strip adhesive. While I was waiting for the adhesive to cure I threw on the door and fuel flap bump stops and fitted the wiper loom grommet and a new female plug as my old one was broken. It's really starting to hit home that I'm on the home stretch now!!!!!

Haha Brad.....no where near it. Current model starts at $140k, older ones are much more affordable but ....built not bought wins every time.
