Will the club members be told to stand to attention?

Not Much More??? C'mon! He is very very good though! The numbers do get a bit scary, but, hey,,,, You can count on one hand, the number of good/proper/knowledgeable, Nissan L series engine guts, in this country. Some have been, and still are, around for close to 40 years. They don't try to re-invent the wheel,,,,,, well, maybe Pete Mac likes to stretch things a bit, but that comes from the "built by wizards" department ! I too have a complete race lng motor for sale, at below cost, it'd make a great grumpy street motor, whack on some triples and a proper extractor setup, mate it to a close ratio box,,,,,,, ( see my "Want to go Prod Sports Racing etc" advert on here.

Want to go Prod Sports racing, or Tarmac/Classic rallying? 280Z f/s
dat2kman replied to dat2kman's topic in Cars For Sale
I do have another ready to assemble motor, same internals, but it utilises a N42 head, that has not had the LCR treatment, but was done here local. Complete incl BHJ Bal, steel fly and the clutch, winged bigger cap sump. All brand new, machined and ready to inspect /assemble. It'd be a hoot of a thing with triple 48's or 50's, and a set of 6-1's Both engines have had 14 kilograms removed from rotating/reciprocating mass, the tacho needle moves up/down very quickly. Can sell with car, at additional, or will sell this spare engine. Yes, running Lakeside last weekend, and 2 full seconds off, and struggling to do what is needed, along with having relinquished my CAMS Circuit licence, some time back, no point me keeping toys I cant use. -
Current lap record holder in class at all three Qld tracks, and 0.3 sec, off Winton Long track record, Group S Historic cars. Fully restored bare metal rust free S30 body, built up to 280Z right hand drive spec. Car runs regularly in 1/3 of grids, against $200,000 + others. Best Bang for Buck Group S car currently available. F54 block, bored 1.5, knifed crank, long forged rods, short skirt forged pistons, BHJ balancer, steel fltwheel, button 1350kg clamp clutch, with fresh ( 2 hours use) Les Collins Racing $5500 re-build P90 Head. SWR 6-1 extractors, intake mani extensively worked, internal bore to throttle body increased. Very strong engine to 7800 rpm Close ratio box, new 3" tailshaft, R200 LSD diff with full complement clutch plates. Bilstein shocks, lowered wedged struts. Comes with many spares, two sets of rims/tyres . To build up another, a spend in excess of $65,000 would be required, as some here can verify, but most likely will be too scared to admit to! Easy convert to Tarmac/Classic rally, and as a Group S build spec car, it slots straight into Standard/Unmodified Classic class. Can supply quality tandem axle teailer. This is a ready to race package, and could see you on front row of a grid, and has done, plenty times. $45,000 I have had to retire from racing, and this baby is just sitting here and needs a new owner, who aspires to moving upwards from the Sprints/Lapdash ranks, and into the gentlemanly world of full on flag to flag racing, that Historic Group S provides, all around Australia, and New Zealand! Can be road registered ( requires quieter exhaust) or run on Unreg Permit, or Club Reg.

Jeff works for Bechtel up in Gladstone, mine industry, 4 weeks on, 1 week off etc. You just need to try him at different times of day to catch him. I get calls from him from some interesting lcations, he was doing fly in/flly out at Karratha in WA for a while.

Go and buy all the bits and pieces, as listed. Pr ask Pete Mac for a price to build up this. Of course, everyone else can do it cheaper,,, just have a look at the so called "cheap" rebuild, Pete Mac is now re-re-building.

The little Facet pumps are perfectly fine. Been in se for many decades. Run another filter between tank and pump, do not just rely on their small screw in screen filter. No need for filter in engine bay. Fit pump at rear, they work better on push, and can be mounted in any position. A manual set pressure reducer to 4 for 4 cyl, and 4.5 for 6 cyl Check carby needle and seat for no sticking, or faint ridges on the nrass taper.

Re the tie rod end extended thread bolts, What was you current toe in/toe out changes being recorded through droop and bump, from the static height position? And, on fitting those extension bolts, what are you getting re toe-in/toe-out now?
-
I owned this for a few years, Current owner has done a very good job removing rust, and repairing the shell, prior to re- engining the car. It's lcated in Brisbane Northside.

Build up a billet blck SR 2.3 DET bottom end, whack on a Primera P11 head. Same as what is in the MCA Hammerhead Murray Coote Automotive 180SX. Moter set back, better balance, lighter than any Chev, and you know what it goes like,,,,,,, Uh bugger, forgot ,, the under $8k bit, scratch that!

King Springs Koni either Reds or Yellows. For rebound, and, Bump/rebound adjustability/tuning. Or Tokicko/KYB. Keep away from Monroe etc etc, which a lot f lcal garages will tell you they are "great" Been covered on here in past, do searches, or google up King Springs and Koni Shock absorbers.

The alloy box thing,,, fabricate it with a lip on bottom, put rubber seal thingy on lip, Tek screw it to original boot floor. On the flat top, fit a hinged flap lid thingy plate, again, a bit of thin one sided sticky rubber to seal, and some form of latch, or a Dzus fastener. The rubber bung in the floor of the original wheel well, remove it and there is your drain. The vent hose line outlet on top of the fuel cell, run a bit of hose. Maybe attach it to underside of alloy box, and poke it out the drain. I run one f those cells in the Datsun 2000, the vent goes out through floor, but i have fitted an old pladtic fuel filter, to stop dust getting sucked in. The bulkhead in the passenger cockpit acts as my barrier.

Have now heard there are about 30 turning up on Sunday, along with a half dozen down from Central Coast, for the Cruise Laps, i've told them to just go straight to the Control Tower office, and wave their money and demand to go out on track for a Cruise session. Some are turning up in their daily drivers,,,, who needs a "track" car,,,, Hope the ZCCQ is ready to market themselves, and promote NDN15, and be able to explain why they are so reluctant to spend a few bucks to put on a pre-event function. know all about the cashflows from last NDN, some pretty big scary numbers, but at end of it, it came out neutral. The new Individual Entry to Events format, proposed for 2015, will certainly test cashflows in lead up. Me, I can't see it working, as do a few others, but this is the new way,,,

Brisbane Car Trailer to pick up my zed? Borrow for beer?
dat2kman replied to 74zzz's topic in General Discussions
The hire trailers from servos weigh heaps. Tow capacity of Forester is about 1600??? Suely someone in the zccq who is not doing Lakeside on Sunday, could help a brother out. I've lent mine out to others plenty times -
That should be good. Doing the perspex full size sheet thing behind the front seats is a pita. I just run a flat sheet of alloy cut to fit the lip of the spare wheel well, held in place with a few metal teks. Used a bit of one sided sticky door seal rubber tape stuff.

Under CAMS that pic above, still requires a fireproof bulkhead. Easist way is to fabricate an alloy, box, that sits directly over the top. Box is allowed to have an inspection/filler flap, that can be positevely fastened ( captive Dzus fasteners work well) It's all to do with keeping spilt fuel contained, in case of rollover/inversion. Even though the tanks themselves have pretty good sealing systems already fitted.

The New Toy!!!! - S14 Production Sports Car, 2B Spec
dat2kman replied to PZG302's topic in Members Project(s) Journal
Ah, Richo, in your case, yes, the plastic fantastic zx, with no cage, needs ALL the torsional rigidity it can get. Best to weld your doors shut, then! The S14's cage, bracing and tagging to the body is plenty enuf. Can easy get away with plastic panels all round, ala imsa GTU. Wheres that pic of the S30 space frame car, with every panel in f/glass, all held on by tabbed Dzus fadteners? -

dat2kman replied to PZG302's topic in Members Project(s) Journal
Why? Perfectly OK. Makes it easy to pry back off and repair/replace outer skins, and tub the upper inners, f need be. -
At 25 litre, is it flush with the boot floor, while tank in wheel well? If so, screw a sealed lid over the top, with a sealed quick release small flap lid for filler. Or make up a raised cover. Rip out the lower rubber bung in well, to vent/drain the new compartment. CAMS requires any tank inside the passenger compartment to be sealed off, and externally vented.

So, Between 11.30 and 12.30, for the people turning up, that have seen this day's activities, mentioned on the social media pages, do they get to do Cruise Laps around the track, under Pace Car? ZCCQ offered this. Most cbf'd about a snag wrapped in bread with marty sauce. Some of the "display" along with general public in attendance, may like to participate. Be worth a call to Neil Lewis, to ask, the carrot to dangle is one of $$$ income to QRO, for their very little effort, ( muster cars on dummy grid, send 'em out behind the Medic/official car) It's a bit sucky they ,ake the zccq do the "upsell" for 2/5ths of sfa reward to club,,,, Tell 'em that, others have, you wont be the last.

The Ebay Thread #2 - Post Ebay Parts Here!
dat2kman replied to XRQTR's topic in Parts and Tools for Sale
Exacterly same as my L28 cranks. LY was just the head, on top of a stock stroke crank, with allowance to remove material. 8 bolt rear used on many Comp cranks, and std on earlier production engines. -
Cars, Trailers or Bikes - Doing it wrong
dat2kman replied to PB260Z's topic in Off Topic Discussions
Shoulda fitted 13" Dato 1600 rims, for the ultra-low trailer look! Can get 13" LT 8 ply tyres still! -
Yet hundreds baulk at well presented restored ones selling at $35k and upwards, but happily buy a crapper at $5k, spend $40k, without realising just how much has been spent, 'cos it dont matter, it's my Datsun! Then want to get semi serious for trackdays, or full serious for circuit or tarmac/dirt, add another $15-20k
