Hello Mate and welcome A 280zx As youve said you've already looked on Ebay, there are also other sites to look in, sadly all Z's suffer from rust, it all depends to what degree and what youre prepared to suffer to repair..... $1.5 to 2.5k will buy you a very average 280zx 2+2, generally not registered or RW and doubtfull if youll be driving home in it, but will usually be a reasonable base platform to start with.... $5k will be more feasable is you want a good runner you can drive now.... Black Diamond foam buffing pads IE: Orange, Red, White, Black, Yellow, Purple, Grey, the colour of the pad determines the grade of cut you require and matches the type of paint and the colour paint you are working on...any good panel and paint consumables supplier, you pay for quality... Flexovit is the brand of sanding disk @ Super Sander "AKA" flapper disks to suit 4, 5, 7 and 9 inch angle grinder / sanders, they are excellent for stripping and smoothing panels, chassis, engine blocks, and parts in general.........there is really no cheap way to strip panels and parts you can you use other methods of course, chemical, blasting and so on, but these are excellent for working at home......... I use a Ryobi 7 inch variable speed unit, strong and robust with 10 speed selections and well priced, much easier and lighter to use than a 9 inch unit, however you can fit a 9 inch pad on it for the larger areas of stripping / buffing...........

Its probably been raised before, with 1200 odd members, do we have Stickers, sew on Club Logo Badges, Stubbie Holders, T Shirts..?? I know with any item there is a min - max number required for supply / purchase, however this would be an excellent way to raise revenue for the web hosting costs.....and raise exposure on an average everyday level for the Club... particulary on the cruises and trips away.

Perhaps take some measurements first of your available room add an extra 1/4 inch or so all round for variables and get the specs of the unit your looking at from the seller A lot of these new head units also require a fair bit of room for the speaker leads, power and amp connections etc....or you could make a recessed fascia so your unit is level with the rest of the dash and mount it in the glove box as a different scenario

Whats being lubricated??? Try some softer pads, does your setup have anti squeal shims?

Sounds like a gem Good the targa doesnt leak, can usually be a concern, window seals are available, but expensive...

Nice panel work Rev Youve done an excellent job on the rear end, did you plate the panel indents or fill?

Take your broken unit to a local engineering / fabrication shop and have them spin you some up, wont cost much....

Might be a good idea to remove your tank and flush it with descaler,then run some liquid surface sealer in it afterwards, there will be dried fuel, rust flakes and dirt in it Possibly some pending holes due to thin metal, the metal surface sealer will fix that up, purge your lines also with descaler, install a new pump, ( as noted the diaphram dries out and cracks / splits ) electric conversion would be the go........

Salvage rights --- pfff Insurance companys generally evaluate to the cent and repair to save a cent In the first instance, Im curious at the ease this car has been written off given the stated minimal damage $4k or $5.5k buy now, I dont think so
