Method of connecting chokes to tripple dellortos
modular9 replied to ol_skl_jp's topic in Fuel Systems
Wot i did - supercheap choke cable out through the original aperture in the fire wall. - Bends around to the front dellorto - My setup has a lug and crimp setup on the front one that clamps the outer sheath but lets the inner wire go - then simply hook up the chokes in tandem. - Important thing i had to do was to add a massive spring to the return of each choke cos even though when i put the choke off the end one stayed slightly on . I think I have pics in my gallery of the dellortos . But then i am in QLD and therefore dont need cold starting help so rarely used it when i had the dellortos on. -
What you would like your Z to look like?

Angelus: if you can get the 280 to look like this then bring it on !! I think these are a repost i cant be sure and dont want to check all the pages. I am lazy like that ! -
Brilliant ... saved from the jaws of a crusher. What will be great is when the car is finished completely and people are all wowing and ooh and aahing around the car you can say it was a 250 dollar saved from the crusher. Good luck with your build .. very jealous of your turbo. And pics! we demand Pics!

The other day i uprated one of my datsuns to the full spec on forza... how the hell do you drive it I got all the driver help off as usual and but a fully optioned datsun 432 is way too hard to keep on the road ( try the maple valley track full reverse for a test ! ) Praps all the pgr4 racing i have been doing is killing my forza style. I love to drift ( yeh i used the word drift on auszcar ! watching for the ban stick.)

Cor ! That is a sweetie. If you see a fat man camping out on your grass with a camera and a faded "datsuns forever" tshirt that is just me stalking your car. Dont call the cops. THe CF bonnet sets the car off perfectly. I will be interested to hear some times in the near future.

what is their international service like? There have been some threads on other forums about the MSA mob taking some time or not answering emails at all regarding overseas purchases. Often I have looked at the blackdragon site with my credit card trembling. I got the distinct impression that it was a 48 states + canada sort of thing ?

http://jpcnews.blogspot.com/2008/06/best-car-gets-impatient-builds-own-z34.html Actually looks ok. But then i am fan of the z32 and z33 ... Mike

what sort of numbers are you hoping for regarding flow ?

zbitz has a crap load of doors ( hanging up in a shed !! ) and i'd be pretty sure he has the parts you might need. He is in walloon outside ipswich in qld. email address zbitz@westnet.com.au And yes he has his email on his ebay auctions so i assume that it is ok to post it in here . I have mobile phone number as well but you'll need to pm me for that.

Convert standard distributor to electronic

aegean : I have been trying to track down the capacitor rating for the inline capacitor tacho problem. Though i have a 260z on the back of the tacho it looks like the 240z. You wouldnt happen to know the rating by any chance? Last thing to try before I take the tacho to a gauge restorer to change the polarity or whatever they need to do. Thanks -
Yep was running l24 + auto + emission dellortos. I know where you are coming from. Nice idea to pull in a smaller torque converter. Probably cheaper than trying to modify the dastardly factory cast progression holes on an emission based dellorto. The more research I have done into the dellortos i have, the more i hate them ( and by them i mean my own dellortos ) with a passion. I'll file away that idea of lowering the stall speed on the auto if you dont mind me stealing your ideas.

Nice Thanks for the headsup. -
Been playing with this http://caelinux.com/CMS/ and it is free works well but I now have compiled it so i can use it on my everyday Linux computer but the live cd works really well if you dont want to run linux all the time. These guys are doing a turbo one but it looks like they have done a little work with airflow. http://forums.hybridz.org/showthread.php?t=127863 http://forums.hybridz.org/showthread.php?t=127653 not sure if they are the ones that nat0_240_chevz is talking about but they have been handy with the mucking about i have been doing in caelinux. Also The heimholtz principle is really interesting. I dont normally get all up with wave fronts and physics and air flow but it really is interesting reading even for someone who isnt the sharpest tool in the shed like me

Neuby's project mistress (260z 2+2)...56ker's beware

Great to see another zed resurrect. In your rundown you didnt note the induction. Carbs EFI ? ITB's ? Please say a triple carb + l31. I know the fuel cost will be huge but you owe it to us. Gonna be great. -
Looks sensational as it is, going to look even better with the intake and so forth. Three thumbs up.
-
working fine here . I dont know if i would be piloting a fiat that fast during "damp" conditions though. Still looks fun. From the comment the poster of the vid said it looks like this is a new development ?
-
I too have been looking at designing some sort of intake system so will be looking on with some interest. Hunter : thanks for the information

i think they look hawt. About the only thing is the balloon tyres you are going to need to keep the right rolling diameter. With the right offset they will fill the guards nicely.

rbz 260 : me too. I ran quake4 the other night on my xbox and i also have it on my 3 x more expensive pc... The xbox kicked the pc in the gonads! One other racer to look for is the street racer game coming from rockstar. http://www.rockstargames.com/midnightclubLA/ or click this link for the big screenshot of sulios ... err the 240z in MCLA. http://www.rockstargames.com/midnightclubLA/screenshots/MCLA_4.html Hopefully we get to drive it and not only race against it. Gotta go Burnout paradise is calling me.

Alternative fuels for our classic cars.
modular9 replied to gav240z's topic in Off Topic Discussions
I watched the today tonight thing but here was the rub. - The water/hydro/petrol car was a stock falcon. - The car they were up against was an XR6 falcon. Of course the XR6 is going to use more fuel. If it wasnt a xr6 falcon and it was just a falcon with xr6 parts on it then what other parts did the owner install. sorry but you cant just show 2 white falcons and tell them to do 100 km and we'll measure which one is better. That said. I still think it is a great idea. It obviously works. But a better comparison would be like for like. Lastly : one word - Roswell. I am putting all my faith in alien technology. -
hello silverz. Got 2 things to check that were wrong when i had a very similar problem . 1. The obvious vaccum leak. I know, I know. But i have forgotten to attach it a few times. I had a doozy where my vaccum hose melted to the exhaust manifold allowing a leak in despite everything looking ok. 2. the other thing was that ( laymans description here ) vaccum advance lever inside the dizzy had dropped off the advance mechanism. Whipped out the dizzy and found the screw and it hadnt gone too far phew - odd shaped bugger with about 3 rings of thread - and retightened it back down. Now i got advance. Problem is that the screw and thread was very finicky and is not really secure enough for my liking. These 2 things i checked for my current setup which is twin SU's and not the dellortos. I also cant seem to speeelll vacuum correctly.

Nzeder says pretty... that is like saying Angelina Jolie is only ok. This build up is hot. Seriously hot. We also dont mind if you post about the tuning section as well such as afm stuff, Ignition mods you had to do etc. Basically everything. All good information for people who are doing this conversion and also us less ambitious modders. Mike

yes i am still your girl Nice site. Looks to be easy to update. -
Tacho may not work. This is because of the way the points tacho works. I think it is -ve pickup and it will need to be +ve or the other way round. I have tried everything until i found a post by nzeder on another forum with a picture of the back of the tacho and what he did to his older version tacho. The fix is 1. Get the internals of the older tacho sorted ( apparently smiths gauges make some sort of conversion kit which is a perfect fit for a gauge guru to do ) 2. after market tacho. I have basically tried everything but the resistor trick. There is a post on hybridz about wiring in a resistor into the line that sorts it all out but the guy couldnt remember what sort of resistor it was. I got it to work when i use an oil filled gt40r coil but when i use the ceramic ( much fatter spark !) the tacho clicks and doesnt allow the car to work. Hope this helps if you do the switch over to a 280zx dizzy. If you car wont start and you get a click behind the tacho this is the reason. Just unhook the tacho and all should be well to start. BTW i have a 77 260z 2+2 and the tacho *should* be compatible but it isnt. Thankfully the multimeter on the coil shows me an accurate rpm when tuning.
