Am using a single choke cable mounted between the rear defroster and the switch to the right ( thermo fan ) goes out where the normal choke cable was and then bends around the engine to the front carb and then passes through all the chokes. Center console getting some fibreglass treatement to get rid of the original choke slot. Didnt use it much. And used to use mick74's method after a while.

  5. you can file a slot on the track eg file the "stop" from the track. Did that on mine. Or copy the track to another bit of metal and make a new clamp with mega amount of movement.

  7. Plug and play! Put them in and the blasted dellos were running about 79% better. The other 21 % was due to a problem existing with the part between the steering wheel and the chair.
  8. Scando : so you were the #$% who bought that turbo setup! Went down there to get the n42 head and so very nearly bought it on the spot! I seen the car twice now and Jakes description is on the money very honest description.
  9. IMHO the figure to look at isnt the max power but the torque figures. When ever it see a dyno card i tend not to look at the max power I am too busy dissecting the torque curve. That said 150 rwhp would be nice.
  10. If only the rear tail light garnish fitted us big bummed 260z 2+2 owners . :( on the CF bonnet though ... Are these rare items or are would they be available 3 months from now or so ? Rain + bonnet vents = water in the engine bay. Plus it is CF.
  11. dont we all : regarding sitting in a 200 hp datsun for "benchmarking" not your power goal which you should get close to. Hell if my stocko l24 with piston blowby and valve leakage can do 105hp on triples and stock exhaust... you'll get close to your goal methinks. Thanks for the link to the AFM.

  13. PZG302 : nice concise info there . Was looking at a mid range cam from tighe cams up here in bris ( 312 or 812c on here http://www.tighecams.com.au/profiles3/nissanlseries.htm ) But at present using a l24 cam in the l28 I am building.

  15. 2 things that helped my idle and up to about 2300 or so 1. vacuum advance off the dizzy. Found it was fluffing about. I dont know if this is because my dizzy is fubar'ed or not. 2. Soft mounts ! Frothy fuel is not good for the carb and idiot that I was I didnt have any on my setup. Great to see the engine shaking its arse off but the carbs being nice and insulated. Gemparts on ebay has softmounts. Made a big difference to the point that the engines condition was the limiting factor in idle rather than the carbs. Also you will have more luck in finding 55 idle jets than you will finding 52's locally .( eurocarb has 52's i think but exxy ). Sulio aka "dellorto-king" has this pdf which is real handy . I am sure you got it but he has just updated it.
  16. Take the datsun shell off the datsun chassis then take the toyota prius body off the prius chassis then swap them over. So now you take the dat-ius to the hole in the wall and charge it up. j/k However. Seriously has anyone done a study on the environmental impact of the production of these "clean and plentiful " fuels ? What about the extra coal needed to burn if we all suddenly switched to electric cars? Even if we go back to horses ( flares on the side and watanabe Horse shoes FTW ! ) the emissions from the "exhaust" as well as the "byproducts" are also harmful. We are all going to hell. At least we all go in a datsun !
  17. Not so much as bad luck as over hyping the triples in my mind. I was really disappointed with the performance ( i come from v8 torana's,falcons and monaro's so you gotta keep that in mind when i say disappointed). I think if i had my time again i would definitly counsel against triples for performance purposes. Especially after you see what can be done with EFI +turbo. When you say expensive it actually will work out ... wait for it ... at 2/3rds the price i have spent on the dellorto's so far. That is factoring in the decompression needed for the engine and standalone ECU plus turbo and routing hoses and so forth! If only there was a CTRL+Z for real life. But i digress... I dont think you have taken the obligatory "rev the tits out of my engine induction sound" youtube yet. What gives ?

Thats ok i was just brain farting on how to turn an emissions ( hard to tune + bad AFM problems ) to non emissions carb versions Ahh so you dont need to sit in traffic for 1 hour in the morning and 1.5 hours at night. I need to find someone who is daily driving + rush hour traffic with triples. I think they just might be the wrong carbs.
  19. Thanks for the updates. amazon delivered my how to powertune webers and dellortos and it has me thinking about those progression holes on the emission carbs. Say you were to block 2 of them up and get the progression holes down to the level of the non emission carbs ? and we got the restrictors in place then surely we would be closer to the non emission carbs ? One last question : is yours a daily driver ? and if so do you have to sit in rush hour traffic ? the reason i ask is that my car chuffed while i was in traffic and i was talking to some guys about the triples and they reckon for the type of driving i do i should ditch em for efi +turbo.

  23. First up : un-cracked dash + looks like a nice interior + 5speed + l28 for 2500 = SCore ! Body looks Pretty dam good too. Funny you should say that about you fazing the 240 but probably not. Me too. There is a pretty damn good 2+2 thread on hybridz that changed my mind. You got fun days ahead. I mean that! whipping out an engine, rebuilding it and then restarting it is probably one of the best feelings in the world for a car nut. When it is finished and someone says nice car mate and you have done most/all of it is most rewarding. Good luck with the compression test. Keep us updated. Mike

  25. not really a look like but if i were to open my bonnet I would like it to have one of these in it. Photo from speedfreak and yes it is all installed and running but a naked engine is well... a naked engine ! Mike
