interesting. I was after a flat topped n42/f54 combo until I thought about the following 1. crud petrol becoming more plentiful as the good stuff goes bye bye 2. Future proofing. EFI+turbo is in the future of my car. 3. Shave the head down to up the CR without destroying the bottom end if i wanted to go back to something less street/fuel friendly. ( got a spare head which is stock ) So I went to the builder and told him dished please. He was about to ring me anyway about the CR ratio anyway ( Excellent engine builder : Torqueteam in mansfield QLD ) so it was all good anyway. So Rev i dont know how you use your car ( mine is a daily with some mods ) but if you need it to sit in traffic for 1 - 2 hours every morning I'd be happy with the CR + dished pistons.

good catch by the sounds of it. Now there are pictures it does exist.

didnt happen till the pics are on the net !

ok i understand now. You are effectively enlarging the diameter of the wheel by doing that. My choice is between these grids , RB ®'s and possibly any other old school japanese wheels that benzed might get in. ( love the gold mesh volk looking ones he has on otomoto.com.au but he has them only as a pair ) Thanks for the heads up.

I'll bite. If you could tell me what sort of machining would be involved that would be great. I thought the spacer places the wheel further out. ?? I dont think i will EVER understand offset and other interesting things !

mtopxsecret6: Ok. I still think wed is a weird day. I understand ( sort of ) your reasoning. Good luck with the meets. -

mtopxsecret6 : Chill. I was only pointing out why some people might think a Wednesday is odd. -

my honest and frank take on the meet on a wednesday is plain odd. Another site ( jdmstyletuning ) has eomm's ( end of month meets. ) there is a brisbane version but the blokes are a little "westsyde reppin , dubbed out ,gangsta typeroonie's " so it isnt really my scene Plus i have a 2+2 which has been famously described as a turd by someone on there . However a barbecue at the mt cootha bbq spots with like minded older ( and older minded ) z drivers held on a weekend would be a much more likely thing for some of us to look into. Wednesday is odd because 1. mid week gotta go to work the next day 2. At night ( some security concerns ) 3. 24 is starting on the box ( I am lame ) Just my take. -
not mine just looking at some possible z32's and this was an option.

I'd be getting those gold mesh ones if you had a set and not a pair :'(

bloody hell. The grids look great. Shame that spacers are illegal. I'd hop on them.

Great looking car! Good luck with the rebuild. Oh and I live in QLD so got rid of the heater/ventilation bottle as well as the aircon. Aircon makes me feel sick and i liberated about 120 hp by not having it suck up rotational power. Joking about the 120 hp more like 118.3hp on the butt-dyno v 1.3 Keep us updated.

Who cares? Lurch is anonymous person on the internet. I have better things going on ( often revolve around bosoms and carburettors and not necessarily in that order ) than worry if that anonymous person on the internet has hurt my feelings. I said bosoms. ;D

Sensational car. Good luck with the sale and I have forwarded your ebay listing to a couple of mates who are in the market for a good z. If only I had the money :'(

I'd say yes I base this off : http://www.dellorto.co.uk/merchandise/products.asp?CategoryID=8&PartsectionID=84 In the description area they say that bolt ons work for dhla and drla. Mike

I think that supercheap auto has parts for the r390. I KNOW they have sheepskins and 18 inch wheel covers that fit it. Scando : what you mean you havent thought how to pull off the perfect heist yet ? sheesh.

zeddophile : I think he already has the gearbox apart from the engine but i dont know how he parted the flexplate from the crank. I used your method on my rebuild and it works superbly. Chris240 : How the heck did you part the flexplate from the crankshaft ? that was harder for me than the four wittle eensy bolts!! 1. If you are junking the torque converter then you could slide a long handled screwdriver between the mounting areas on the converter and use that to brace against. They are square little raised sections where the bolts bolt into. ( see image of my flexplate when it came off. ) 2 . drill into the converter on one side so you can insert a bar or something into it. Then insert bar and brace against it. OR even better pierce it right through so you could 3 . Put the ring spacer and the bolts ( find some nuts to fit ) back onto the flex plate and then slide a bar between the bolts to use as a brace. Warning : Flex plate is really really really easy to bend. and also I didnt need to do anything of the above as zeddophiles works if your engine and gearbox are still together.

We have the same taste in cars. If you got the money there is a muira for sale in england for 165 000 pounds. Or we'll just steal it.
-
nzeder : see that is what they told the general public. Just like the 93 432r's and 65 toyota 2000GT's buried under Mt fuji. Actually your RB26 triple setup you are building is probably the closest we are going to see. And we are saving lurch for the big ferrari heist of 2010.

Slightly related question. What are you guys using to stick the buggers down ? I have a weather strip that was glued to the metal extrusion ( previous owner dont know if this is legit ) and it is coming off. Thinking of silastic or sikaflex . But if you guys are using something better can you tell me. PLease?

All we need to do is : -Fly to Japan, -Break into the factory -If we get caught we say we're from Auszcar and all will be well and we can steal the 150 os giken dual cam head's I KNOW they have stashed away somewhere. ( not to mention that HKS old school turbo stuff ) - If we dont get caught then we make off with the lot - GTA style: we secrete all the cars and bits over there in lockups around the country - slowly we export it all out. We do this by covering the cars in cardboard to make them look like r33 skylines . No one looks at them - Once landed here we start a members only forum post where we flog them off... keeping the rally cars and the os giken heads. See i have it all worked out. and If we get caught it gets blamed on Gav so it is a win-win situation.

Sorry for the lateness of the reply... been busy getting the new L28 into the car! it is in. i am using the su's to run it in. I too run an auto ( my reasons are that I am lazy ) however I am thinking of manualising it so i get that whole Ferrari-shiftpaddle-millisecond shift thing going So after the exhaust and extractor upgrade i am going to run them again using a mixture of sulios triple carb sheet. ( STCS ) One thing I think could be amended to STCS ( nice work mate got it as an A3 poster sitting over my computer <-- i need to get a life ) is the exhaust system used. I would think it might have a bearing ? I know what sulio has in his from another thread. Glad some people are using their dellortos as a daily driver. I was getting worried it was a weekend warrior only type of carb setup.
