  1. Sushi : If the Bris meets ever are on a weekend I will take my shaved arse 2+2 ( and the car ) along. Same as waxhead's. Waxhead : Good pick up and you are doing exactly what I wanted to do before i chickened out and went l28. Good luck keep us posted and make a new thread for yourself on the members rides area.
  2. I like this last line "But bad news, Nissan, it isn't a Porsche. The good news for Z lovers is it's worth going back for more." the real good news is that for the price of a new porsche you can have 3-4 370z's ... of course for the money that a new 370z costs you'd be better off with a second hand porsche and a second hand 350z and some change to buy some flowers for the missus ( which you are going to need ).
  3. And now for something a wee bit different. http://www.superstreetonline.com/featuredvehicles/130_0905_datsun_240z_coupe/index.html
  4. ^^ he is right. Fulcrum on fairfield road yeerongpilly was where i went for my superpro set and kings springs. I saw the full set on ebay but preferred to buy them at fulcrum when I had the money, not in one fell swoop. If you lower your car and replace your bushes ( esp the front radius rod ones ) i guarantee you wont be able to get the geometry right so you will definitely need to do alignment then. One word of warning. Midas and 2 bridgestone specialists flatout refused to do alignment on my car cos it was lowered ( couldnt get it on the lift apparently ). Thankfully waynepark in milton can do it they do race cars so I expected as much.
  5. Christine. After stephen kings awesome book. red car that likes to hurt me both financially as well as physically ( got more scars from this car than any i have ever owned ). Has a mind of her own regarding electrical problems. Shsh she can hear me typing about her.
  6. if he'll let you hear it running and possibly drive then yes it is. They are BULLET proof and way over engineered. Parts are relatively easy to come by as well which was a pleasant surprise. I built mine up to be carby fed but with a CR and low end setup for turbo if I ever feel the itch. Best of both worlds really. Though triples + extractors plus a l24 cam are quite eye opening and though i got an efi setup ready I might not use it. Then i shave the head down to up the CR a bit. Extractors : I also got some extractors from ebay 6-2-1 with a 2.5 inch outlet. He doesnt have any for sale but all i did was contact him and he set it all up. Good bloke and fast delivery. http://shop.ebay.com.au/merchant/rod_mph_W0QQ_nkwZQQ_armrsZ1QQ_fromZ of course if you go turbo you wont need extractors ( or you might with some crazy custom turbo thinggy. )
  7. gav : That style of tshirt will be an exxy exercise to print. Came up with something similar for a client and they balked at the price of the printing. I dont want you to lose your shirt ( the pun was unintentional ) on the cost. Praps a tame printer might take it on though. But with the price of a good shirt + printing + profit for the site you might not want to get all excited with a design like that when the cost might blow out to $60 odd a shirt to the end user
  8. sco_aus : 3 women can fit in a 2+2 relatively comfortably. and the bouncy blow up castle , 2 kegs of beer and a box of prophylactics. I dont need to go on do I ? rb30x question : What else comes with it? I mean 1500 sounds good if the interior parts ( those fiddly plasticy bits in good condition are getting hard to find ). Zbits ( based in QLD a little closer to bris than you though ) has hundreds of spares. He would have windows and the like as he has a few cars on his property. Check out the harder to find interior parts first before making an offer.
  9. And wont he be chuffed to think that he has the potential to be a valued member. Coming of a wee bit elitist there dont you think ?
  10. drive really really fast dodging the rain. If you ever see a fat man driving a red 2+2 erratically on the roads of brisbane that is me doing exactly that. Enjoy the car . You know that datsun actually made these cars for all weathers right ?
  11. Dave : thanks for the heads up on the door locking kit. Keep us posted on the fitting as well. Nice car as well. lurch : thanks for the info ... You did reply, but I didnt ( still dont ) know what "NP " meant.
  12. what central locking kit are you going with ? I asked lurch what his wheels were and he fobbed me off so's can i ask you now ?
  13. in order datsun z33 datsun z32 datsun r32 datsun s15 datsun z34 ...
  14. Got the same sort of ( engine ) setup with a choice of su carbs/triple carbs or efi. Very interested in the whole conversion to efi and what else you do. Keep up the good work.
  15. If you are having trouble with the brass rod ( mitre 10 has 0.8mm + drill bits but not the rod. ) you can get some from a hobby store. ( guess who lost 4 of his restrictors! ). Hobbyone had the rod i needed.
  16. Just upgraded to cs4 did a cross upgrade into macintosh though. ( Cheaper to cross-grade than to upgrade within windows spec ! we love you adobe and I beat the price rise to happen on march 30. ) So cant help you pc wise though. Had this thought though : Transport stream cutter ? Cuts the ts stream and outputs to mpg. I dont know what it does to audio but it is free and small. Cant hurt to try. http://www.free-codecs.com/download/Transport_Stream_Cutter.htm
  17. codec hell. The camera that you shot the thredbo stuff with probably uses a propriety codec for its audio. ( p2 cameras do for an example ). In the p2 example : Works fine in premier cs3+ out of the box but any other editing software needs the codec to be installed( bought from raylight ) to allow the audio to be read properly. 6.5 premiere might just be too old for the newer codec to be bundled. I know that this happens with Fraps based movies and p2 based footage. Just something to try.

I agree. I have a friend looking at buying a 2 seater of some description and he has been looking at this ( i think he might be a watcher not sure on that ) more pics needed I think. He doesnt know the z as well as some and is having some trouble working out what he is looking at. At the price you have it at ( worth it if i had the money I'd jump on it ) it is the same range as a really good z32 tt and an average r32 gtr which are the other cars he is looking at. So... interior : Other than the passenger side and the shot from drivers quarter we dont see what the drivers side seat looks like. Also I know it is a 2 seater and you shouldnt be too worried about what is behind the seats but a shot of the rear interior would be good. At present we only know that the left side of the interior is in good condition. Exterior : more angles. I know what the RBR's look like and it "looks" like you have the black inserts but my mate cant visualise it even though i photoshopped Sulio's car to look like yours. More pics might help it sell. When i sold my xb coupe on ebay i took 12 for the advert and had a link to 90 more. Just saying from an interstate possible buyers point of view, it would be much better if the buyer could see more of the car before making the decision to get on a plane and look at it for him/her-self. Just my 2 cents to help. GL with the sale. I wish wish wish i had the money. this is exactly what i would be looking for in a z. Mike
  19. Thanks for the shot of the 15's RBs . That has made my mind up over the 16's. You are right however the 225/50/15 options in tyres are a little hard to find. I will jump on these when I got some spare coin.
  20. if one of my clients decides to pay an invoice sometime in the next millennium, I am there with knobs on. 15x7 fronts and 15x8 rear. I seem to remember that you could get someone to anodise/powder coat the centers? Is this still true or am I dreaming of red rimmed time attack volks ? Mike.
  21. - fulcrum suspensions. - ~69 dollars each. - come with 2 big arsed ( technical term that ) zip ties. - Universal ones. I decided not to cut them down so I had a little more dust boot. - Remember where the old ones were on the tie-rod side as when i did mine i forgot which groove the rubber had to go into. - Have intense fun in getting the smaller side over some of the parts of the rack. Though the grease on the steering worm drive and rack helped. REALLY dirty job. just did this about 2 months ago before the new engine went in. About the only thing i will do is grease them up at the same time as i regrease my ball joints. Just to keep em from cracking again.
  22. jdmyard also do sportmax 15's and 16's so you arent only tied down to just rotas.
  23. On the l28 : I bored out to 2.9 L + blueprinted and balanced the bottom end with balancer and flywheel. They took some material out of the crank and the flywheel is much lighter etc. Had the L28 rods balanced ( which meant some where shaved some werent ) and matched . Put in dished l28 pistons ( fuel getting crap and I think a turbo might be in the future ) and put it all together over a 2 week period ( I know it is slow for building an engine but i am a measure, mockup, measure, mockup, build type of guy). rest is a n42 with a polish ( didnt close the injector notches ) and rebuilt triple dellortos.
  24. I'll chirp up here. I have an auto 260z and a manual mg midget. I also use both in rush hour. Hmmm the constant shifting up and down to move 1 metre can get a little annoying after the first hour. the set and forget auto is nice and simple and lets you get on with the more important things in life ( looking at girls , reading bumper stickers , moving 1 metre every 2 minutes , and of course looking at girls ). Now I know a non synchro MG box is a little different to a datsun manual So you wouldnt have to double declutch all the time but I like my auto in the datsun. So depends on the use for the project really. daily or track monster ?
  25. An update. Put some tea on i get lyrical here ! December 30 th of 2008 decided that the engine should go in. 2 days later it was in ( I dont believe in New years day call me a heathen ! ) So I decided to lower the car at the same time ( using kings springs low ) ( beer is only there to show how low it is Shot after the engine was in. ) then hooked up the new engine to the hoist and wacked it in. No problems. I have done a few engine rebuilds and swaps and the nissan has been the easiest. Hooked up the twin SU's ( for running in only ). Re connected the fuel pump and kicked the engine over. OK normally this is when you sacrifice a goat and do other sort of weird cult things. Well It started after 2 seconds of cranking! Hooked outside gauges and all were in the green. No leaks, good oil pressure, excellent fuel pressure and even the water temps were in the normal. Fast forward 500 km , 2 oil changes and 1 coolant change and I have just put on the triple dellortos. ( specs and so forth in the triple carb section ). In the boot is a set of 6-2-1 extractors with 2.5 inch outlet which is waiting for me to get the rest of the exhaust done. Last pic is because you hardly see a shot of this part of the z. So all in all whole job took about 2 months ( faster if I had more time ) around $3500 ( less all the nolathane bushes and lowered springs and EFI ) and both thumbnails and a nice little scar from an exhaust stud gouging into my arm. Things to do : - Exhaust - Work on the stock mags and if my idea sucks then ... - 15 inch RB's or speedmax xxr's ( I got my reasons for the 15's ) - Going to try to make a fibreglass cold air intake.
