  1. Thanks for your help everyone, Hey Pauly, I am guessing that a generic d shape sway bar bush is my only option? How do I know if the other dimensions will be right (will it fit the d-bush housing)? Cheers James
  2. I am having troubles getting 20mm front swaybar bushes for our 260z. Energy suspension is not able to help out as they are having problems with their imports (backorder). Does anyone know where else to try? Cheers James
  3. Bugger, If you have prepared and painted your own car then it sure hurts, I can sympathize with you there. The webcam idea is a good one. I know of someone who does exactly that with their monaro, seems to work a treat!
  4. I see... How easily should the vacuum advance the timing (roughly)? Should I be able to advance the timing by just sucking hard on the hose? Cheers Jim
  5. My problem is that it looks as though the dizzy is off something else, as the points and rotor button are not the same as what is specified. Also the diaphragm seems far too stiff to be operated with the amount of vacuum coming from the SU's. I have checked the base plate and it moves freely. All these issues are leaning us towards a complete new dizzy. The XR700 has a good name and it is a shame we are not confident we have a 260z dizzy.
  6. Thanks everyone, That is good news as I have an old 280zx I can butcher. Cheers
  7. Hey, 240z Do you think the 280zx dizzy has the same bottom gear? Is it as simple as swapping it over? Cheers
  8. Has anyone any suggestions as what type of electronic ignition I should get for our 260z? A complete Mallory ignition is available but not sure if the best option. Would it be worth sourcing a second hand electronic ignition or just sticking with points. Problem is the old points ignition needs some work. Cheers N and J
  9. "Built, or the date on the compliance plate ?" Will check tonight
  10. Thanks, for the welcome We live in Armidale NSW. To be honest the z passion started with me however, it is the wife who took on the 260z 2+2 passion. We do all our own work including paint, so a slow process as we both work full time. She is a bit rough compared to the amazing Z cars getting around now, and very original with her cheese cutters. My wife would not allow me to modify her other than extractors and paint colour. cheers N and J
  11. OK, here are her specs sold 15/06/78 built 08/77 GRS30020264 .............. so she could be one of the last sold that is still on the road?? Lucky we got all the documentation she was sold with cheers
  12. Hello every one, I should read instructions.......Off I went into the general forum without an intro. This is a great site. We had a 280zx fairlady until it got stolen and dumped in a river in Bowraville, we now have 2 260z 2+2. Cheers Nell and Jim
  13. Hello Chris She now lives in cold old Armidale NSW, so North.........From cold too more cold. Pics coming after a polish Also found energy suspension (master kit) so think OK on rear suspension cheers
  14. That is the thing, I cannot see anything on the dash. We got her from Canberra (late 1977 model), so it must not be factory, looks very neat (wiring loom looks original). I Replaced the perished vacuum lines and adjusted the linkage up to the SU's..........looks like the previous owner (we are the second) didn't use the cruise once the SU's were fitted?? I will take pics tonight
  15. This site is great...... My 260z has cruise and it looks like it is factory. How does one operate the cruise, I cannot see anything on the dash? cheers
