  1. Hi Guys, Just came across a video on you tube regarding tips on solders of electrical wiring. I have been doing a lot of wiring alterations to my car and I am sure that some of you are not as experienced as others. So this video has some tips that I'm sure will come in handy. Enjoy. David.
  2. Looks like a perfect day for you guys. I'm jealous. I'm still making alterations to my 260z and it's currently not running. Mind you, there is not a decent place to drive here unless i go down south of the state. 34 degrees in the shed at the moment and rising to 38 later in the day. Post up some more photos so I can cry into my beer later tonight. David.
  3. Hi Justin, The Hopper Stopper kit came with adapters so it was a straight bolt on kit. I only had to do a small modification to the backing plate. The 1" master cylinder was purchased separately. As I said, I can run 15" wheels with this kit. Cheers
  4. When I upgraded my 260z years ago I got the kit from Hopper Stoppers. (Street use only, not track). 300mm ventilated rotors with Holden Calipers from memory on the front and I kept the rear drums. Master cylinder was upgraded to a 1" diameter unit from a Nissan Patrol as recommended by the supplier.. I can fit 15" mags over these but I have 16x8" BBS 3 piece copies. Brakes work well and cost was about $1200, But that was in 2004. Quick and simple conversion. For the type of driving that I did, 4 wheel discs were not nessessary. David

  6. Hi Gav, After looking at the add, I would think that it is $4295 as traded. ($ instead of an S ). It is 1980 and second hand cars were cheap. David

    Gearknob Inserts

Keep yearning Ian. That's something I can't organise. I'm waiting on a quote from the supplier to do the inserts in hard resin. I was thinking of making them available for the four speed box as well but it depends on overall cost of the project. It's not like everyone with a stuffed original knob wants an insert. I originally just wanted one for the new Stainless Steel knob I turned up on the Lathe but I got excited. George, I will keep you in mind. By the way. "Great work on your car. Keep up the good work". David.

    Gearknob Inserts

Hi, Local trophy store. They make the inserts for the medals. I got this one done to see how it would turn out using the standard resin as commonly used on trophies. He did a good job resizing from a picture and made it 27mm in diameter which was as close as I could measure on my original knob. To do it properly they would have to use a harder resin which is quite expensive but would not scratch as easy and last longer. I intend to get a few extras made in the softer resin to check his quality control and then get a quote for the hard resin inserts. New stainless steel knob weighs 480gms.

    Gearknob Inserts

Hi Guys, I was looking on the web for Datsun 5 speed gearknob pattern inserts without any luck to fit to a stainless steel knob that I turned up on the lathe. I had shortened the lever and wanted a heavy knob without having to buy one. I have an original gearknob but the shift pattern insert was cracked. I took a photo of the original and got one of our local stores to tidy it up with computer imaging and make me a demo unit. I'm happy with the outcome. I'll post a picture when I attach it to the stainless steel knob tonight. David (Enzo).
  11. You would have to be keen. "Muriatic acid, more commonly referred to as hydrochloric acid, is a poisonous and highly corrosive hydrogen chloride solution that is widely used in industrial settings, e.g., producing chlorides, dyes and fertilizers, electroplating, metal cleaning, and the textile, rubber and photographic industries. Colorless to slightly yellow in appearance, muriatic acid can be identified by its irritating and pungent odor. Harmful effects are experienced through several routes of exposure to muriatic acid, including inhalation, ingestion, and skin or eye contact. Ingesting or inhaling muriatic acid may be fatal."
  12. I had a set of golf clubs that I had put away damp and ended up with surface rust on the shafts. I used 0000 steel wool with silicone to polish. Silicone dries and leaves a protective coat. I'm still using the same clubs and just wipe them with a silicone coated rag after each use.
  13. Hello Gordon, I'm with Lurch. Count me in. David(Enzo)
  14. LOL ROFL That's the extent of my computer lingo. Good to see we have a worthy challenger in the older ranks Peter. Keep up the good work. David.
  15. Looking Good. Pretty talented for an old guy Peter. LOL. I have the white face conversion for the original gauges that I bought years ago from the USA. Never got around to fitting them. The speedo is in MPH. Has anyone ever done a replacement white face in KPH to suit Aussie cars. Ok. Back to the shed for more work. David.
  16. Don't know if you missed the boat there Gav. I read it as he has not got a 240z or 260z but is referring to his 370z as the "70". Maybe I'm wrong. It is early in WA.
  17. Back in about 2006 after I had fitted the body kit to the 1976 260z, I took it for a run to Perth and down south. On the return to Kalgoorlie I was cruising along listening to the radio, thankful that I had air conditioning in the car, being a hot Summers day. I was near Southern Cross and had just come around a corner and had line of sight with the highway patrol car. Immediately his lights and siren were turned on as we passed each other. He disappeared out of sight around the corner and my immediate thought was "Should I, or not". Well I am too old to do a runner and there was nowhere to go so I pulled over to the side of the road and waited. There was a fair amount of traffic being the end of a long weekend and I was wondering where the Patrol car had gotten to. Apparently it took him a while to be able to turn around in the traffic. Eventually he came screaming around the corner with lights flashing and siren howling. I was leaning against the front guard as he pulled up. I walked over the Patrol car as the cops were getting out and he said, " It's alright mate, We just want to have a look at the car". With the body kit he wasn't sure what it was. I explained it was an old Datsun to his surprise, and then he and his mate checked the car out. After having a good look and chat they told me to have a safe trip as they walked back to their Patrol car. I asked, " I presume that you put the lights and siren on for a reason. I wasn't taking too much notice to my speed, what was I doing". He said 128 kph. (Limit was 110 kph). He told me to watch my speed with a smile, and then he continued on his way. Moral to the story: Don't make them chase you; be polite and friendly; and a bit of grey hair might also help. Drive safe: David (Enzo)
  18. The 280zx has a bypass "T" fitting. When the heater is on the water flows through the heater core. When the heater is off the water pressure in the line pushes against a spring valve which opens and allows the water to circulate through the line. I have fitted this to my 260z. If I can find a picture I will post it. David
  19. The Nice Guys. (Russel Crowe and Ryan Gosling). Much better than I thought it would be. Set in 1977 with great music.
  20. Hi Gavin, Could you please remove this ad. Regards, David
