I was just about to ask the same thing, if it was a custom bit or off the shelf. I was going to start looking around for twin verticle exhausts early in the new year (assuming side exhausts are illegal in Vic, but can't find any info regarding this that makes sense to me right now)
-
I like the fender mirrors, but as Agno said if you think the side mirrors are useless, you should prob try to sit in someone's car who has fender mirrors to see what you think. they are good for quickly seeing if there is something next to you or in you're blind spot, as there effectively isn't one, but they are useless for looking back in

The Brown Hornet - as NEW 1971 240Z - SOLD
zedevan replied to acf321's topic in Members Project(s) Journal
roughly how much are you looking at to get headers coated? do/can you do the entire exhaust or its not worth it? -
what does the topstage wing look like before your mods? is it the higher version of the bre lip? (trying to work out how it normally follows the body) where did you get it from? interesting work with the 260z 2+2 lights, are you going to trim the panels slightly to sit completely within the 280zx frame?

There's a few pics of cars in japan with this swap done, I like it, something different and probably 100% reversable should someone ever want to put in (the more natural looking) 240z lights! so from the subject i assume it's a 100% rattle can paint job? doesn't look bad, but i could make a roll on job look better
-
I'll be there (without a zed, but may have scored a place with a double car garage, so could actually start working on it soon!) fwiw the date in the first post is still last years

If it's possible for a wilwood brake setup to pass engineers, my interest/commitment goes to 100% - not sure if others feel the same way?
-
the other pain with using wilwoods should they not pass engineers, is that any decent engine mods will require a brake upgrade, thereby meaning you need a decent "engineered" set aswell - although some vented two pot calipers would prob do the job, but then why not just stick with them. I've read something saying the wilwoods used by arizona z car do have a seal in them, they just dont call it a 'dust seal', not sure if this is true or if a certifying engineer could/would agree... might be best off to buy all their suspension gear and swap it in/out in one hit when defected
-
Sorry for not being clear John, I'm interested in the entire brake setup, but if it can't be engineered I don't really see the point, so only put me down as a maybe - what path are you taking for brakes and suspension?
-
I've been interested in purchasing their brake kit when the time is right (exchange rate/spare money/when I actually need the parts), last time i talked to dave the handbrake caliper wasn't ready for sale and he was going to contact me when it was...so if it is now could you please add me to the list. Since then it's also come to my attention that you can't really get these brakes through a RWC. Has anyone looked into having the brake lines on the calipers machined/re-tapped to tapered threads, along with anything else that may be required?
-
I've got a couple of sets, the postage would definitely cost as much as the rims!
-
are the mirrors you have actual fender mirrors, or just bullet style mirrors? I'm not sure if you'd be able to see the passenger side mirror if they were just bullet mirrors, as the stalk on the fender mirrors are really quite long to get the required height (and look) personally i only like the look of the 240z/1600 fender mirrors on zed's, where as some people are happy putting on toyota or other generic ones
-
I thought they were the same as RB ones?
-
Do you know of the exact date/adr which applies to the above? I just tried to do a quick search on m600 to see what it was but too much irrelevant stuff came up. Last time i looked into the emissions stuff from memory it was ADR12b, which came in March 1976. The only reason I care is my car was made 01/76. It's still availible for testing if you need it, however in the state it's in would need half a day spent on it to move/stop under its own power, therefore is really only ideal if you're happy trailering/rolling it around...so Ben's is a better option!
-
colour looks nice, and nice HID retrofit - you should get some clear 7" lenses so the output is even nicer, and shows it off a bit more
-
Not overly helpful info here, but removing the fenders isn't any real effort, the only down side would be potentially discovering what's underneath!
-
shannons told me as soon as my car can move under its own power it's no longer insured due to it being parked in an open car port - their solution was to put it into a storage facility...if it's your only car, i'm not sure how you're meant to get to this storage facility. I'd try to find someone nearby who has a carpark attached to their appartment they dont use, or simply try to rent one in a nearby multi story parking lot if shannons are happy with this.

nice, i'm sure that'd be a bit of fun to drive! you should get the number plate nowank - for no wankel engine, it's currently availible at vplates.com.au haha i'm thinking of going back to semi daily driving my zed, and the safety combined with fumes are the two concerns I have, just sit in one and its imediatly obvious that there's alot less material in the car. surely you can't be too concerned about petrol use while owning a rotorary or v8
-
my memory with petrol was more like 11-14L per 110km pics please
-
i daily'd mine for a couple of years, besides the petrol smell (who needs cologne?) and lack of air con, below is the only reason not to daily one

fwiw my s15 was defected the other weekend for being too low, for the first time that i know of, even though its been at that height for the last 3-4 years! so i think they must be slowly getting stuck into the whole hella flush/fully sick trend the amazing thing was that I was pulled over another 3 times that weekend, all by cops wanting to defect it for being too low (not even that low http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4059/4378970786_55d18926a4_b.jpg), only to be disappointed when they found out they were too late! If it had ridiculous camber with rims sticking out past the guards like UMAD, or a rediculously low kit, i'd be interested to know if they would have made me tow the car instead of being allowed to drive it for the 7 days they give you. That could have been very expensive considering the fact i was 300+km away! I dont really want to add up how much it's going to end up costing me, even just in time, fortunately all this did was put a timeframe on me getting the car to a roadworthy state, as i was wanting to do so anyway, so i can put it up for sale and get stuck back into the zed

FLEXZED early 260z RS30 0001009 RB34 BUILT BY PMC ENGINES
zedevan replied to FLEXZED's topic in Members Project(s) Journal
what head's going to be used? seems like people generally use NEO rb25's for this? I'd be rather interested to know what you're planning to do for the mounts/wiring/intercooler/exhaust/fuel - PMC fabrications? Are early 260z's closer to 240z's in terms of their gearbox mounts and electronics? -
I don't think anyone here is really counting a front air dam as a mod, yet alone chopping up a classic... Flares on the other hand are nearly getting overdone now, as i'm liking the simple non-flared lines of the zed more and more, although i think it might just be a case of wanting what you don't have. Flares are also a reversable mod, but if would require a fair bit of money to be spent to return to stock (more than what putting flares on costs), hence why a stock one could/would be worth more. Same with spending money on performance mods, most buyers, yourself included, couldn't care less as long as it moves...so a stock car is the best to have if you care about resale value. The status of the car as a classic on the other hand is something completely different, and you still wanted one having never been interested in other cars (regardless of how ugly the front end is stock), so i dont really know your point there

i often don't bother to log in while checking out the latest posts etc - i'm sure others are the same? Post count requirements are annoying, having to be a paying member doesn't ensure anything as if i was intending to steal some expensive stuff from someone, who cares about spending $20... The only way that a trustworthiness type system could work is if an administrator approves them, or say 3 'trustworthy' members, so that way a mate can't just approve his mate, who in turn approves his dodgy mate. We could have a thread dedicated to people asking to be approved to save it constantly coming up everywhere Although I know i'd be annoyed if say hybridz implemented such a system...their interesting and rediculous builds is the reason i go there -
Sounds like you should buy my car...should be able to get it to be exactly what you want for around 19k 11.5k for my car with it 'stock' (fender mirrors, rims, stock headlights and diff) 2.5k paint job - your choice of colour 1k interior (to make it black with stock seats) 2k engine rebuild 2k coilovers ...just saying
