  1. I have a Tyvek cover, however the fit is horrible as its generic so there's way too much material infront of the windscreen! The only thing bad i have to say about the material is it collects too much dirt on the outside.
  2. HID's in a projector or reflector not designed for them are the worst and I'm surprised aren't defected more as are highly dangerous. A RHD cutoff in a LHD country would be even worse. I feel retrofitted HID projectors (what these effectively are) fit into the same category as wide wheels - they shouldn't effect anyone else if done right, and at least in the case of the headlights they provide some additional safety for the driver due to actually being able to see at night!
  3. It'd be too obvious running LHD cutoffs over here, high chance of being defected or worse - potentially causing an accident. Even when going around a long left hander on a poorly lit road with LHD HID's it's quite common for cars who are in the beam to start flashing you to "turn off the highbeams". Do any of your kits have electronic height adjustment? Because of how sharp the cutoff is you start to realise why from the factory the cars have to come with auto leveling - the difference in projection angle that occurs between a full and empty tank of petrol is amazing! I just lined them up with a full tank and someone sitting in the car, but it meant the lights weren't shinning as far as they could have otherwise. My s15 had a dial to adjust the height which was handy...
  4. Ben, do you sell them with the RHD cutoff? This may be the excuse I need to upgrade to bi-xenons, as the projectors I used were too long to fit into the stock weatherproof housing, and are pretty close to hitting the wheel under full lock. Here's a comparison photo of the stock sealed beams vs bmw hid's. You can hardly tell the sealed beams are on - i went through a booze bus with the headlights like this and got some weird looks from the officers but luckily no ticket. There are a number of things HID's need in Australia to protect other drivers from being blinded (auto leveling and a washer jet) - however they all rely on them being aimed correctly which they hardly are anyway, and its a lot safer than driving around in the dark with sealed beams!
  5. are you getting them with a RHD cutoff? also are they bi-xenons (ie remove the shield to get a high beam)? Either way you'll need a seperate halogen light to be able to 'flash' people. personally i want a pair of lights out of a g55 but they cost too much, so will probably just stick with my e46 retrofitted HID projectors which you can just make out in my avatar pic.
  6. I wish I'd started the way this guy has gone about it, http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/topic/405899-75-c110-gtr-build/ Rebuild each part as its removed - instead I have a pile of old looking parts. The plan was/is to just put it back together as it is and one day take it all down and get things plated all at once, but its definately hard not to do things 'while I'm at it'. Also need to be realistic about how long things take, and how many things can come up and get in the way. So don't buy a car that needs work and expect to be able to drive it straight away, it'll just take the enjoyment out of working on it.
  7. infinately more awesome than a 3d printer, just more challenging for the average person to use. I personally think they should master how 2d printers interact with computers before moving onto 3d
  8. I went past your mx5 a few times where you must have been living in Mitcham, it looked nearly as nice as the c110. Have you got any pics of your old 240z or was it before you started building really clean white cars?
  9. I would have thought the engineer would need a 260z door there to compare to the 280z door infront of them - there's a chance the 280z doesn't have the 'side intrusion bar', but given the saftey bumpers I dont see why they wouldn't have included this! If you're keeping the bumpers you should track down any other awesome 70's accessories that were availible, such as a rear louver and anything else you come across Has anyone ever seen a car with the 280z rear bumper spoiler above a standard bumper? Or that bumper spoiler mounted above the rear lights as a swept back "BRE" spoiler?
  10. Nah it was the 'pick a part' in Ringwood that keeps changing its name - wish I'd grabbed more off it! Someone on here had told me that in the last year of 2+2's they came with this grill, either way I was happy with the find
  11. measuring it would have made sense! My one is pretty rough as you can see from the pics, as it was found randomly at a wrecker on a 2+2 (apparently some of the late ones came stock with it, and theres some discussion of these ones having a different size mesh). I just visually aligned the mount holes and took these photos. The lower edge of the top bar is roughly inline with the second top bar of the standard grill, and the bottom bar is roughly inline with the the lower mount holes - so it does sit a bit lower than the sttandard grill.
  12. Hey Matt, I didn't end up making it to my car sorry, maybe next week
  13. would love to come but weekends are currently precious time and still not driving anything worth driving :/
  14. ...I'd only buy an SLS type 3d printer, the parts most of the other ones produce probably wont withinstand the conditions cars go through. And until I can afford one that prints titanium I probably won't be bothering, as getting things machined in China is cheap enough
  15. I think they sit slightly lower, hard to tell due to different angles in photos, but you can see in the linked pic below that there is a noticable gap above the grill, and a portion of it is visible below. http://www.roadandtrack.com/cm/roadandtrack/images/Yk/Nissan-Fairlady-Z432-lg.jpg I have both so am happy to compare, but won't be back at my car till next week.
  16. I think you'll find you're only allowed to increase the total track width of the car by 1", which means you can't do what you want anyway, particuarly if you're defining the maximum 'stock' wheels as 7" that are no where near flush with the stock guards. Fortunately 10" wheels where a factory option and according to the vicroads documentation that's what matters.
  17. put up a better pic of the rear lights, the one on the gumtree add sucks
  18. www.myus.com could potentially get around the issue, unless they are able to work out its still going to be shipped internationally. there are a couple of freight forwarders too such as http://www.priceusa.com.au/ who charge a small commision similar to that drift guy that will buy whatever you want from Japan...
  19. http://www.speedhunters.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/10/Larry_Chen_Speedhunters_260z_blue-47-680x453.jpg is an interesting take on merging them in without a G nose, but has been done with a 280z front valence thing

    WTB: 260z sunroof

they're not factory, so you'll have to look closely at the glass or other parts to see if there's a manufacturer and possibly model written on there
  21. The copy i have is in japanese...
  22. what do you plan to do when a cops tell you that 9" wide wheels on a zed aren't legal regardless of flares? also decent rims cost money for a reason, regardless of width
  23. good work gav, it looks like it has your favorite mirrors on it too!?! haha Dale's safari gold zed was Bec's favorite car from the Classic Japan day, its definately a cool colour
  24. I feel like the flared look is too common now, specially with the number of other cars using zed flares or similar. I'd love to get a pair of works flares but feel its a bit too much without the power to match. I was concerned about cutting my guards but figured its a 260z so no one really cares, and if i get sick of the look its an opportunity to do some nice moulded metal flares similar to a stock m3, like
  25. Have you had any luck finding a fender? I'm also in the hunt for one as the one I bought as a replacement for my damaged one I'm pretty sure isn't a factory stamping and the fit is annoying me.
