You could purchase one of the doubledin headunits thats a full pc? http://e3io.com/custom-computers-car-pc there's bound to be android versions too if that's you're preferred flavor I'm going to replace my outdated 10" touchscreen/carputer setup with an ipad with a data simcard once the car's running again, mounted via some sort of cradle on an ram mount or similar, ie and just use something like a foxl as the speakers mounted in the place of a headunit - yet to see a headunit with a screen thats anywhere near as nice and easy to read in full daylight, plus this being removable removes the risk of theft and the money spent has a use outside of the car The one thing it will never easily give you though is a reverse camera when you change gears...but could hook up a gopro alternative which lets you view the camera via an app?

There's a Maccas on the corner of Malvern and Williams roads. Sucks the tunnels are closed for people coming from the west, but shouldn't be that bad for people wanting to park their cars in there early on a Sunday morning.

I was quite happy when i found this out while looking into it a few years ago considering my car is a Jan 76 car! Gav my understanding is this has to do with the above law. Since rb 30/25's never came out in any car there's no emissions data for them, which makes it difficult/expensive to pass the required emissions standards for cars newer than 76. However no one's going to measure the height of the block...

Yep should be as good as a die-cast part for general purposes, as the runner and vent design is only roughly estimated so can end up with some voids etc. I had my wife's engagement ring cast from platinum using a lossless wax 3d printed model, and they wouldn't guarentee that pockets of air woudln't be exposed during the polishing process. I've only played around with direct printed titaniums, the company selling the machine was was giving out bottle openers made with a honeycomb structure. Apparently the US aircraft carriers use them to print spare parts as required so they dont have to drive around with them, but then replace it with real parts once they arrive from where ever.

There's lots of tutorials online and software such as solidworks is pretty self explainatory for block modeling things. If anyone ever wants something more complicated 3d modeled I'd be happy to help out. The metal printers are pretty awesome, but your typical parts are fairly brittle and only really good for testing if geometry is correct, and then using them to make silicon molds for vacuum casting 'real' plastic or polyurethane parts. The main advantage of the printers is the ability to make things you can't traditionally machine or tool. For those prices you could have likely had the parts machined out of the material in china source: I'm a product design engineer/CAD monkey

^ maybe that's what the door's for? I'm in a similar situation as George, but without that beautiful backyard view! We were looking around for a place that had a garage/workshop space along with however many other requirements, but ended up with one that has the potential for it to be added. It has what appears to be a driveway with a garage at the end that was converted to a garden and storage - i'm hoping it will be relatively easy to spend a day getting rid of the garden beds and open the storage back up to atleast being usable as a carport. The only issue is doing so most likely will delay my car getting back on the road till next year In terms of Gav's original questions, I've been raiding all relatives/strangers potential hardrubbish for metal lockers and filing cabinets, as i think they work well as semi secure storage

do you have another car you can use to drive to where the zed is parked? if not, you probably need to be more specific about where you've moved to. most convenient thing is to start asking neighbors and offer them cash

could have the bbq the day before, so the out of towners only have to drive down once, and could setup camp somewhere for the night? I could probably organize secure off-street parking for the night near the corner of swan and church st. But I'm guessing occupying the entire weekend could be difficult for those with families, and would be nice to have it as two separate things to break them up.

Hey Guys, after a front passenger guard, preferably without the indicator hole. I'm not happy with the condition mine is in and think it'd be easier to get one without rust than keep working with the one I have. cheers,
