  1. Just a quick bit of news: The Toyota Car Club of Australia is proud to announce that from our recent Classic Japan event, we have raised $4,000 that will be heading to the Fred Hollows Foundation. This money will go towards restoring the sight of 160 people. A massive thankyou must go out to all our sponsors, volunteers & all of you who came along, donated, had a great day & made all of this possible.
  2. Wow. What a day! Thankyou to everyone who came along/displayed a vehicle/donated/lent a hand/said hello/made the event as awesome as it was! What I found to be most impressive was not just the numbers, but the variety! I'm no car expert, I like seeing cars at shows & thinking "WTF is that?" *walk over for closer look* "Oh, so THAT'S what they look like in the flesh.". There was a little something for everyone, no matter what your flavour is. Anywho, I shall add my collection of photos, you can find them all here: https://picasaweb.google.com/117427185344396044531/ClassicJapan2013?authuser=0&authkey=Gv1sRgCNGiitKIioyfmAE&feat=directlink I had another play with MovieMaker & put together a little walk-around of the day. Four hours of car show condensed into just under eleven minutes, if you're game, sit back, relax & enjoy.
  3. This is correct, we do this for a number of reasons, safety, simplicity etc. If you pre-meet prior to arriving & arrive as a group, we can most likely park you as a group. For those of you who plan on attending Classic Japan this Sunday at Como Park, please take note! If you were planning to take either of the Citylink Tunnels as part of your route, you may wish to rethink that. Both tunnels will be closed for Maintenance/Re-Surfacing works from 9pm on Saturday the 30th of November until 9am on Sunday the 1st of December. They might finish early, I wouldn't plan on it so best to find another way, see you there! For more information, please check the Citylink website here: http://www.citylink.com.au/News.asp
  4. Greetings, I would like to apologise for my long absence here, it is great to see so much love & support for this event! I have been absent due to working frantically to finish an engine rebuild/conversion in time, touch & go still at this stage, we shall see! Also, sorry about the clash with your Xmas BBQ! Down to 9 more sleeps before the big day! I'll be honest, I'm nervous. If you can't wait for the day itself to score yourself a Classic Japan t-shirt or lanyard, or are unable to make it on the day but would still like one, we can help you with that! T-shirts & lanyards are For Sale via Ebay, with all funds raised being donated to The Fred Hollows Foundation (http://www.hollows.org.au/) . You can find them here: http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/321251509468
  5. Great to hear there's so much interest already! I've modified the OP slightly, please have another read.
  6. Toyota Car Club of Australia (VIC) is pleased to announce that Classic Japan will once again be held in 2013, this year on Sunday December 1st. This year will be bigger and better with a return to Como Park in South Yarra. As well as having no numbers restrictions for entries, this venue will allow us to host the event with the Classic Japanese Motorcycle Club in making Classic Japan 2013 a show for cars and bikes made in Japan pre-1988. The event is a huge celebration of Japanese car and bike culture. No trophies, no egos, just a bunch of enthusiasts coming out for a picnic on the grass with their classic J-tin bike or car. Vehicle entry will be via Alexandra Ave, South Yarra and once again we will be taking folding note donations at the gate to raise funds for the Fred Hollows Foundation. Gates open at 8am and close at 9am for entries. Spectator parking will be in the streets around the venue. To download a copy of the event flyer, please click here: http://www.tccav.org.au/wp-content/uploads/2013/08/Flyer-ClassicJap2013-August.pdf For more information please contact TCCAV via email toyota.car.club.australia@gmail.com. ***PLEASE NOTE*** If you intend to enter your car into the display area, we ask that you stay for the full duration of the show. If you are unable to stay the four-hours, we ask that you park outside the show area. We also run a 'park as they arrive' format & will not be separating cars by manufacturer etc. If you would like to park together as a group, we recommend a pre-meet somewhere so that you can arrive as a group & park together. This is a static car show, meaning that once parked vehicles will not be permitted to move around the show area. There will be many pedestrians in the area & by minimizing vehicular traffic, we can keep things safer for everybody.
