  1. here's the first of mine, will hopefully get more up over the weekend...
  2. ...if putting on the end of something doesn't help describe sarcasim/light heartedness, i dont know what will! goodluck with the sale sulio, hope you stick around, as otherwise you'll be missed! i know you've got heaps of other things going on, my only thought would be there's only so much of a dent 18g will put in 250g of expeniture, and there's the positives of owning such a car for years to come, but i guess every bit helps huh!?!
  3. Sulio for putting his car up on the market, and now possibly you for thinking it was directed at you?
  4. how cheap you can get parts out of china once you pay for tooling and start doing decent quantities will make you depressed, well it at least has that effect on me!
  5. the major cost would be if tooling is required, so if the club had some money to lend towards the cause until the parts sell, anything is possible for an investment cast (no real tooling cost and get about 100 units) i'd estimate a close to perfect reproduction mirror assembly to cost about $150, without the glass [i dont really know whats in it, so am just guessing and doubling it)...how much do they currently sell for, if you can find one for sale that is... i'd be more than happy to help in anyway from a cad monkey point of view, i don't currently have a cheap way to get 3d data scanned, but i've seen some good videos about how to do it yourself
  6. the joke in melbourne has always been that people in sydney are gay, you guys aren't really helping...
  7. loser old porsches are nice, except for the targa ones
  8. dam that sucks! Hope you recover from your injuries fast, and that you had a nice agreed value on it, as we all know how much it would cost to pay someone to build one like that! on a semi positive note (ok, its not really one) it gives you an excuse to play around with putting the 2 seater rear windows in a 2+2 without having to redo what you had already done i'd be interested to see the interior damage you managed to do to it with your body, sounds painful. idiots on the road are what made me want a daily with air bags, get a late 180sx and make it look like a 240z with that front end conversion, fender mirrors, flares, s15 dash with gauges in the vents... surely to pull out in front of someone so stupidly you'd have to b 'hooning'?!?...that would be a nicer fine than only failure to give way [i've had the forum crash many times, so i try to remember to ctrl+a ctrl+c everytime before i click ok]
  9. Even just yesterday I was driving behind an 'internationally' licenced driver in a Honda 4wd who along jonston st between cyclists and other cars nearly changed lanes into someone atleast 4 times while this person would b just as bad a driver in a normal car, atleast they wouldn't have a massive blind spot, and would only have about half the momentum if they did hit someone
  10. that was my point maygz, a normal car doing twice the speed limit is 'only' as dangerous to other drivers as one twice it's weight doing the speed limit. I know speed restrictions based on the weight of a car would NEVER work, however the number of p platers who are now jumping into jacked up 4wd's running mud tyres instead of the 'evil turbo and v8' cars they are now banned from, really does scare me as I feel alot less safe. There is just as much chance of them being idiots and speeding on freeways, or getting distracted to easily. Just now they can do some real damage to whatever they hit, and their car has no chance of handling an unexpected object or corner etc to avoid the accident at the last minute
  11. if there are going to be all the restrictions on the car's p platers drive, and with the trends this is causing, i believe there should be one limiting the maximum weight of the car. that is, since p platers can no longer have nice fast sports cars, they get jacked up 4wd's which are much more dangerous for other road users. speed doesn't kill, momentum does. so their 4wd with jacked up suspension which can't corner at 50kmh and weighs 2 tone, is just as likely, if not more, to kill someone in another car, as my 1 tone car going 100kmh etc. then there's the difference in crumple zones, collison heights... maybe instead of speed limit's there should be enertia/momentum limits. so if you're a truck or towing a caravan and have a head on with another car, you are only allowed to travel at a speed which will inflict the same amount of damage as if you were driving a datsun 1200 ute traveling at 100...
  12. i think i remember seeing this car up for sale on ozdat when i was looking for one - looked very nice indeed! (besides the fact it was damaged), and sold very fast
  13. i only sign into post, i'm not sure of how many others there are who do the same...there are many forums where you have to login to view certain threads/sections, and also have a section purely for donating members, and another again for admin. i think blocking off the whole thing to only paying members would be against the welcoming nature of the club. but as long as we DON'T have a minimum post count to be able to put items up for sale i'm happy! good work on taking all the photos and getting details, definately interesting stuff, and a lesson on the importance of a garage or atleast a car cover!
  14. i'm confused as you must be doing something wrong (quoting the wrong people?), i can wear mine atleast 7 times... i've considered putting in another l series but figured it would just be delaying the inevitable, and wouldn't be what i really wanted unless i spent nearly as much as an rb would cost anyway i agree with you there, the car just needs a few things fixed up on it and i'll be very happy with it, and back to working on the zed at the rate of 1 thing per year...
  15. mine's a 76 and is green #240, it looks nice under certain lighting conditions, other times it could have done with more depth
  16. My aim to put an rb into my 260z has been progressing so slowly for a number of reasons, and i'd gotten that sick of driving a 'family' car i figured it was time to do something about it and get another car i've always loved since they came out i also fail to a reason to bother putting an sr20 and s13-15 dash etc into a 240z when these are also such good looking cars, and have a smidge of safety and commonality to them (except for the rip off which is their insurance, and wanker factor...) here's some pics of it that i took as i walked past it, and edited over lunch. its a '99 jap spec r with the b-package and the usual mods, which one of my mates has babied for the last 3-4 years, and one of his mates owned before that and must have spent a small fortune on back in 2002
  17. hey craig, i'm keen! i sent you an email to what i believe is your work address. could you please email me through the details i need to know, and missed out on hearing on saturday? my address is evan at cobaltniche.com thanks! it sounds awesome
  18. i was hoping it atleast make it along to the end of it, but mildura is way to far away, even with getting up at 7 by the time all the things that had to be done were it was to late looks like another great day!
  19. i think they would look to large on a zed, and s2k or nb mx5 mirrors are where its at
  20. i watched a friend put his vr/vs race car onto his trailer to have the ramps slide out at the last second, luckily it happened that far up and he had enough enertia the car made it up and didn't scrape the hell out of it!
  21. yeah i'd say its due to its pearl and the surrounding colours of the lights, post up the pics of that car under normal lighting conditions too incase that helps anyone know what it is - as it does look fairly silver in ones such as ur display pic? the most similar colour i've seen would be the pearl white off a lexus is250/350 http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/8/80/2005_Lexus_IS250_01.jpg
  22. was that the total price, or each?
  23. welcome! as you would have seen over on hybridz one of the recent issues with doing an rb conversion is the lack of oil sumps that are required, although there is a patrol one that can apparently be modified to suit and should be readily availible second hand in aus. there is some talk of modifying skyline rear ends to bolt into the zed, however i am yet to see anything that looks easily do-able. there are no off the shelf kits that i'm aware of to adapt their brakes to zeds either, might be best just to sell off the skyline bits and do the more common conversions, such as vented hilux brakes up front and 280zx, r31 or s13 rear brakes? i'm planning to just get a custom driveshaft made and use my long nose r200 diff and half shafts till they brake, then go with datrat cv's...
  24. i will be in mildura at 10am...so will get there at whatever time that works out to be - probably to late however i will tell the couple of 240z owners i know through family friends about it can i suggest this gets added to the upcoming events on the front page?
  25. I have also gotten one from Chris Wood, i was thinking of CADing one and getting it made but didn't see the point the largest difference is these ones from the US are Stainless Steel instead of Mild so would never rust. I could be interested depending on the price, as the smaller changes make for a nicer part also (main shape is bent instead of 3 pieces welded together, rounds on welded in brace to minimise stress concentration onto side faces, and an extra hole for screwing into the car body) one thing i don't understand about the brackets (the one i have from Chris also) in general is y they are only using one bolt at the top, instead of 2 or 3?
