  1. transports only worth it if the cars worth 1000% of the transport cost imho. ie to get a car transported from nearly everywhere in aus it would need to be outside of your budget... just wait for one to come up for sale in vic, and buy it asap ...i also agree that you dont really need to go into uni for mech eng and driving down from qld in one go with another driver isn't to painful at all, somewhere around 18hours
  2. looks awesome! hopefully your not left waiting to much longer before you get to see it with some colour on it! if by guards you mean flares, then i'm pretty sure the rear ones are wider than stock
  3. http://www.zforceproductions.com/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=15&Itemid=60 atleast has the sizes there for you, of both the standard and a slightly wider rear pair. if you're in melb and want to have a look at a set and hold them up against the car pm me as mine aren't currently bolted to anything. i was trying to convince a mate to put them on his crx and they fitted it ok. u should do the 240z front end conversion too instead of just a crappy silvia front
  4. i'd also love a set of wat's - in matt black or a dark grey without a polished lip. their price is what inspired me to get the roh's for half of that while there are now many rims which are very similar looking much cheaper, there is something about actual watanabe's design which make them nicer - however for the price saving and since they'd be my second set of rims (and most likely in a size which doesn't require flares) i think the new lot of superlites look quite nice - and hopefully they eventually release them in 16x10 as well so can be used as a pair for the track edited: they have 15x7,8,10 but only 16x7 and 8 http://www.performancewheels.com.au/superlite.asp# i wonder if my planned brakes will fit under the 15's...
  5. nice pics of your very clean 2+2! ...it has 31 y/o leather?
  6. y dont you keep your nicely built engine and carbs for the future 2 seater? i couldn't notice the small dents you were talking about when i last saw the car, but then again i wasn't really looking for them. here's a pic i took at the last meet
  7. its definately a nice conversion for the money, i've talked to the guy a bit over pm's as i was thinking of going 1jz...factory 206kws, the only issue is making them manual is expensive, so its probably easily worth the money, pity it looks so ugly...
  8. ...what an awesome photo
  9. you can put fd seats in an easier way by modifying the rails they come with with a grinder, however they end up sitting fairly high. because of this i am wanting to buy stock fd rails and have the mounting points modified on the zed as i like the feeling of sitting basically on the floor so if anyone wants to swap stock fd rails for modified ones let me know
  10. my understanding is the issue of a twincam 3 liter is the fact the engine has never been tested to pass ADR's - you can however put in a rb30et/rb26dett etc stricter emissions also happened early 76 - although i can't remember what direct difference it makes - i think you can vent to atmosphere (BOV) before this date??
  11. ...get a roller out but seriously, next time there's a meet up i'll bring along one of the door's i've painted up and half assedly polished and left for the last 1 or 2 years with no wax on it, and even they look nice enough. Specially for the price, and ease of repair although, for 6.5k i'd be tempted to go bare metal and just get it sprayed in a nice metalic, assuming that doesn't involve u spending forever taking it back to bare metal. is there any guarentee to the work? a guy at uni had an alfa that had had a 7g bare metal job on it before he bought it (for about 8g, lol) and rust came back within 5 years so it was resprayed again for free. ...but then again i dont want to have to worry about my 6.5k paint job whenever i leave my car somewhere or do some work on it
  12. i'm also quite tempted to forget about the zed (not sure if thats possible) and get a lotus 7, i think a honda k24 powered one would be nice, or sr20, or even just s2k, 3sge, 4age...to many options. with the weight of them though i think n/a is a smarter idea. it'd distrubing knowing both guys with nice v8 240z's are tempted to get a lotus 7...makes me think it will never go away! positives's for a zed are they have a roof, and comply to some safety standards, so can actually be used as a daily (although probably deserve better anyway) a guy at work told me his mission is to convince me to never get a lotus 7, as he reakons they are for wankers, as whoever drives them clearly doesn't care what they look like, and you dont need that much performance on the road... that first video makes me not want one though! as if you'd put a picnic basket on the back! my favorite video of one is http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RHgjFPhhzY8
  13. ...or ofcourse i could drive the 350z from your place
  14. i'm planning to come along, and warren i work right near the north melbourne tyrepower, and will be catching a train to boxhill, if you want to catch up and get a lift from there - i'll pm you my number
  15. there is a "modifying excess" - but they generally dont seem to care talking to a mate who works for just cars, he was saying gio's classic division was no longer taking on new customers? as its all owned by scumcorp so there is no point them competing with themselves?
  16. i'm pretty sure there's someone on classiczcars that use's the ring as an indicator, that sure would look weirdly different! but y not get actual beema lights? i'm missing my headlights and am thinking of transfering them over to the subaru... http://www.viczcar.com/forum/index.php?action=dlattach;topic=399.0;attach=288
  17. i'll try to make it along - anyone else going to be killing time in the city before hand?
  18. where abouts are you located? I have some that will be coming off my 76 260z 2 seater when i get off my ass and swap them - the outter skin is screwed below the lowest bend, which on a plus i think has protected the frame thanks to it no longer holding water! i believe the lock mechanism is different and they are not interchangable with the earlier ones though
  19. I've uploaded the photos to my gallery, they just need to be approved unfortunately i think i may of uploaded some of them twice, as i kept forgetting to select an album and it would come up with an error - so i hope its not to much of a pain for whoever has to approve them! I left the images nameless incase you didn't want your car identified (although its not really hard to work out!) If you want a full res image of your car, pm me your email, and i'll send you my bank account details!!!
