  1. my advice would be to spend about 1g on a 1-2y/o road bike off ebay or somewhere similar my bro a bit over a year ago bought a 2006 giant ocr zero for around $750 - carbon front and rear forks, seat stem, cranks, and handle bars! and decent running gear now if only i had a picture of a guy at works full carbon scott with a titanium chain....
  2. i personally think lexus paints have to much pearl in them (notice a black is350 today purely because it was so shiny) - so it depends what you're wanting your car to look like it could look really awesome with the porsche gt style front, or look horible on a 'period correct' style car
  3. http://www.classiczcars.com/photopost/showphoto.php?photo=14961 having it open that way doesn't really help as the motor's to far back to reach anything anyway! there's also alot less wow/novelty factor
  4. i'd try to make it along - hopefully this time though there can be atleast 1 zed there!
  5. very sad news - i know there's alot more to life, but as a plus atleast he got to get his zed back on the road
  6. you're doing eng so its not like you'd ever need to take anything to uni with u? so seriously just ride a pushy (i had an a3 folio and supplies, so even if i left my laptop behind it was to much). a fairly flat 13km is basically the ideal distance for a daily commute - as long as its not raining! besides the cold, rain, and lack of daylight, riding's my prefered method of getting to work, only its 30km each way which is a bit to much, and currently takes an extra half an hour due to my lack of fitness - hopefully that will change soon
  7. i assumed you were going to do it the cheapest and easiest way lol, but it will look sweet, and would go nicely with the wide body kit alfa fibreglass sell so they should make the mould for free! mine's 010061, and was bought on the 17th of Feb in '76 - i wonder at what stage of the build they are dated (mine's 01/76, so surely it would have taken awhile to get to aus?)? and if they restarted the vin's at 010000 after a certain change? is your car going to be sprayed the orginal colour?
  8. i think it will look awesome, specially if you integrate the led parker/indicator assembly off a 911 or something or if you're going to get headlight covers for it, run them up the inside upper edge of the buckets aston martin style - and retrofit some projectors. this is what i plan to do once my car is back on the road - so give it 10 years! (there are some led strips linked to on hybridz which would be perfect for it) http://www.seriouswheels.com/pics-2006/2006-Aston-Martin-Rapide-Concept-Headlight-1024x768.jpg how are you going to make up the shape? there some pictures of a zed with an s2k front spoiler on it, which roughly fits, and you could try an mx5 bumper? assuming the porsche is far to wide and pricey and cut up...
  9. thought i'd post a small update - through the company i had in mind using the methods we're using for a customer at work, tooling would last rediculously long, ie 250,000 parts + but at a rough cost of 5g. i'm sure there'd be a cheaper tooling method, just dont want to bother the company until i actully know what the parts looks like...
  10. from a guy called shane in sale? lol searching this site resulted in a phone number for him of 03 51445845, goodluck, and please let me know the current price
  11. dam you, just spoke to a friend of mine up there who was saying it was nearly to hot on the beach there today, meanwhile it was raining when i left work...
  12. thats awesome! i love your short recap of your experiance in a lotus 7, made me smile george, how r are ya if you're calling yourself a "young punk"? lol u could try putting your zed up on a clubman site and seeing if some of them want to be sensible and swap? i think 40g is quite reasonable, but then i'm not a potential buyer!
  13. coming up with a final year project can be a pain in the ass, so goodluck with it! i would of thought to get the most out of assignment and have it meet the set critera it would have to incorporate heaps more calcs and custom work than bolting on some parts from another car - hence y formula SAE exists goodluck with the body work on the car! i'm in the process of doing mine, hopefully well enough for me to be happy with it, and not rust to much more, until i can afford a full bare metal rotisserie job
  14. pardon my ignorance but isn't this really a matter of putting in an mx5 or subi rack along with a pump? i woulda thought the steering in the zed wasn't that far off the torana? i learnt to drive in a car that didn't have power steering and the zed wasn't noticably different, even with 225's on the front
  15. i think we'd all like to see your car up closer at a meet i wish cops had something better to do...wait, they do! let hope they actully start doing it instead of just making money off defecting people who have nice clean cars, and instead atleast defect people in 80's rust bombs, or do something about proper crimes
  16. ...i actully dont mind the scoop, and from the other pics of his car looks like he has 3 different bonnets? (low scoop, big scoop as per cop pics, and cowl induction type setup?) but its still a funny add, and not something that should really be on a civic...
  17. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LfWScRkqqRo looks like a pretty clean car though, i wonder whats under the bonnet
  18. adobe lightroom is also a cutdown photoshop just for editing photo's - my brother seems to like it so much that he bought it (around $100 i think) so maybe some of you guys would like looking into it also from what i've seen there are tutorials on youtube or other forums for just about everything i like my tz7 but it does need manual controls to do things properally. i want to get a camera that can control remote flashes, but the price of the flashes alone makes me not want to do that http://strobist.blogspot.com/ has some interesting things on it
  19. what do these parts look like? anyone have a photo? maybe i can help out and get some moulds/parts made - i'll try to get a rough price and tool life on monday
  20. i assume there's a plate on the other side? quite random of them to have painted the cover on ya! if ur struggling for tassie then there's absolutly no way i'll make it, but i guess we all knew that
  21. hey lurch if you're ever struggling to find something to do we both know there's stuff to be done on my car! its just a matter of somehow getting it down to you - you wouldn't happen to have a car trailer would ya? the only one i have access to is massive and weighs 800kgs and when the weight of the car is added ontop means i can't use any car at my house to tow it
  22. ...no you won't
  23. http://img2.netcarshow.com/Caterham-R500_2009_800x600_wallpaper_02.jpg is the image its ment to be the setup the company you posted a youtube link to who do the inboard horizontal susspension sounds interesting, even if its just coz you coudln't do that on many other cars! IRS is another thing which only some kits have yeah? going with the orginal width or one you can actully near fit in would be another tough decision... what engine are you thinking of going with? (just saw you'd replied in the time i wrote this - last time i talked to my bro about it he was saying tou can't build 4age ones anymore due to emissions?) i hope to one day convince my brother and dad to buy one, but i do question if i should just get one now or not...alot
  24. looks nice as always! what mag is it going to be in? i was talking to the owner of a workshop that my mate has his car at which has a few real nice imports (wide body s2k's caught my eye the most), and that fact i had a zed came up and he started going on about how he saw a really nice one awhile back that was white or silver with flares and obviously turbo and led round tail lights! and he kept saying how much of a beast it was and how clean it looked!
  25. zedevan

    Want to buy 260z

i'm also tempted to get an r32 gtr...we should all do it and then start a side club i figure an s15 is probably a more practical/cheaper daily though, and the zed deserves an rb26...
