In regards to the logo, it saying AusZcar with australia underneath no longer makes any sense?!? where as vicZcar it made a whole lot of it I'd b up for a tshirt and maybe a cap depending what they look like - i dont mind the datsun ones that are out there currently I'd love a sticker for my daily that said 'my other cars a datsun' with www.auszcar.com small offcentre underneath it

looks good, but ur making the rest of us look lazy... is it much effort to take the front and rear windows out? and do u need to replace the seals if you do?
-
dam you, whats the reason behind garaging the s14? That colour has grown on me alot after seeing it heaps as one of my mates had one in it I'd be happy with any colour but red, yellow, black in that order...so i guess that leaves white, grey or blue as the colour i'd want, but the order changes often lol I figured i couldn't justify paying the extra to have an s15 as a daily i'd rarely get to drive how it should, and loose out so much in functionality, so instead i am making the outback a bit nicer (more money into the zed)...i'll let you know how i feel about that decision in a few months lol

I'll PM u my number

I was under the impression it was written in an ADR? but maybe its just become like the rumour you can only go up 2"s in rim diameter size - which isn't ever written anywhere I'd just hate to have all the nice brake stuff on there then have it be the reason my car wont pass an eng cert
-
$400 for r33's with s15 discs sounds pretty awesome!?! or is that just for the custom bits and peices? I'm very tempted to get arizona z car bits (just the 4 pot's and smaller discs), but i'm still worried about the wilwood legality thing, i guess i should hurry up and call someone who can give out eng certs to c if they care. As pointless as it is, i prefer the physical 'look' of the corvette pbr 6 piston calipers (which def pass adr's, but use an internal drum handbrake which i assume is a pain to get made up?) over any of the wilwoods, so i guess that, and the fact my car wont need brakes for a year or so are whats putting me off

http://www.importbible.com/design.php?design=fairlady - NOW SOLD OUT I have the above tshirt in small, which is to small to fit me - when i bought it they only had small or xl, and i was hoping it would be ok, but its about as tight as a chesty bonds, and i'm not ripped at all so its not a good look! I would like $40 for it as it cost me a bit more than that with postage and the dodgy exchange rate, and would prefer a buyer in melb that i can give it to at a meet, as i dont really have time to get to a post office. Perfect for someone's kids or a chick, I'm tempted to give it to my little sister or gf so they can represent the zeds, but i'd prefer money

i assume you mean rubbing due to width? is it just to pass a RWC or ? the only spares i have are the stock 14's, and my 17x8 or 8.5's just fit on the front ok without flares, but its possibly to close to pass a RWC goodluck

does that 260c(??) have an rb in it? if so thats awesome

where abouts did you get them from? what brand? and how much? I just went and got the only similar looking thing from the local hardware store, and for the price it was and amount of a panel that i managed to strip it seems like an expensive method!?! -
ebay US is probably the easiest as they come up for sale from time to time, or yahoo japan using someone like import monster to buy them for u. i'd expect to pay around $400-500 for a pair if they are new http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/DATSUN-FAIRLADY-Z-240Z-260Z-280Z-510-FENDER-MIRRORS-JDM_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQ_trkparmsZ72Q3a1171Q7c66Q3a2Q7c65Q3a12Q7c39Q3a1Q7c240Q3a1318Q7c301Q3a0Q7c293Q3a1Q7c294Q3a50QQ_trksidZp3286Q2ec0Q2em14QQhashZitem310134333173QQitemZ310134333173QQptZMotorsQ5fCarQ5fTruckQ5fPartsQ5fAccessories the chrome ones have a shorter stalk than the black ones (black are the orginal 240z ones)
-
i have them on mine (260z), never had trouble with cops but dont think i have ever been pulled over or gone for a rwc with them on - i think at one stage i may of looked up the relevant adr's but can't remember now. just fyi, the chrome ones that you often see on 240z's are actully off 1600's or something, and have a slightly shorter stalk. This is only an issue if you are short as the windscreen wipers start to block the view of the passenger side mirror - but since my car never had one it didn't make much different you can get that front spoiler from that z place in sydney, or you can get a carbon version of it from otomoto?!?
-
Opinion needed should i paint my 240z in camo
zedevan replied to mrp69's topic in General Discussions
do it, just make sure you choose a nice camo pattern... off topic, but in regards to 3 spoke rims, i love these ones for some reason, on the right car ofcourse -
without going to extreme (carbon fenders and doors, which i hope to see on your car ben!) my shopping list still totals 6g...one day!
-
I said a couple of years ago that i'd make some drawings of the brakets in my later 260z and send them out for quote...i'd still be more than happy to, and have some free time atm i could do it in. However i'm not sure if the retracting belt mechanism is availible from nissan. also it would be helpful if someone could measure the angle of a 240z strut top bit and size of it to make sure it fits - this ofcourse is redundant is someone has put the 260z bracket into a 240z before without any issues?!? The bracket sits between the strut top and the side of the car, and i assume is held on by welded on nuts underneath which might be a pain to get to for installing in a 240z

they are the company that have them for $220, and i prob would just go that way except unfortunately they dont have them in stock currently, and wont for a few weeks
-
thanks for the suggestion and offer, i was hoping to find one of the companies as its not really a large enough saving to bother wasting an individuals time with - and i'm sure i've seen mention of such a company on here before, although iv'e had no luck finding it! what i wrote does sound dodgy, its just a pair of headphones that costs US$80 delivered in america, meanwhile shops in Aus want $300 for them, the cheapest website i've found so far that will ship to australia is $220, but since its not supporting an aussie shop anyway i'd prefer to just get it from the yanks and save another $50 or so. my x deals with a client in america on a daily basis so i should see if she can help out, if not i'll send you a pm raceborn thanks -evan
-
I'm wondering if anyone knows of a company which will act as a 'middle man' between companies which will only ship to the USA (or japan - except i know of importmonster and slidewize imports for yahoo japan atleast) I am wanting to purchase a product which is HEAPS cheaper from Amazon than anywhere in aus, yet they wont ship "this product type" here

i'd like a house for 1g within 10km of my work also i think i've lined up a place to move into with a mate later in the year thats inbetween my work and the cbd - so i'll see how that goes The zed ticks all those box's quite well - just not the crash and comfort aspects. i might go test drive a gtb sometime and see how it handles as i dont need the clearance of the outback, and it should make it atleast enjoyable to drive around a corner - my manages H6 spec B with STI 6 speed is a beast, and this doesn't look to bad for an outback http://i186.photobucket.com/albums/x143/gradg1/Outback/OBK0908/OBK09089.jpg (i've got the rear spoiler sitting here, lol)
-
i am enjoying all the comforts of the outback as a daily, but for the amount i am currently driving it i have been considering going to something i can just have 3rd party insurance on - my brother has an st162 that cost him $1500 a few years ago which i drove for about half a year, but i got to sick of fixing bits and peices on it (water pump, and a drive shaft snapped, lol). it also felt strange nearly spending as much on a car each year as its worth - and the outback's insurance is only $300ish more than 3rd party on the celica is, so besides the fact its depreshiating at about 1g a year it aint to bad. at one stage i really wanted to get a c210 as a cheap daily, but they r a bit hard to find I don't really drive somewhere that i have a problem leaving a car, specially now i only use it for leasurely activities - i used the zed as a daily to get to work at northland, but i am surprised it wasnt' stolen, lol. and the toyota looks that close to a normal one its really a bit of a sleeper....hmmmm
-
while vicroads claim they need to look at the car, i've NEVER had this be the case guys in america seem to use indicators of an excel as a flush mount replacement, so you could always get some and paint them body colour - or just paint the stock indicators
-
if the CH plate system goes to 90 days a year that would be perfect, and maybe some motivation to get the zed back on the road with a cheap L series - or buy another classic car to use as a "daily" on weekends, as it would b hard to live without a car Does the car have to be of a certain age? Or just deemed a classic by a club you are part of? As my parents have an st165 sitting here, its now around 24y/o and is definately on the rarer side of things so just wondering if that could get CH plates, as it was a bit of fun to drive yeah i get what you mean, and the way the laws r now its not good at all if you get caught, but there's still something about having a daily which can actully go around corners etc - i was hoping getting shocks out of a GTB would make me enjoy the outback more, but i dont think it will b enough i think another problem is that i've always liked s15's and as i said, now is probably when it makes the most sense to get one, but it would be wise to move out and see how $$$ goes for a bit first, while working on the zed's body as i can
-
Thanks for the reply's guys! Coz i work at a smallish company, i dont think a company car would be on the table for quite some time, atleast 5 years judging by who has them etc. If i did put an l28 into my car, or even cheaply got the l26 fixed cheaply it doesn't help my desire for the car to be what i want it to be - sure i could drive it and enjoy it for what it is, and try to keep up with whoever i'm going on a cruise with, but i've already done that for a couple of years (having a ball doing so) - but either way i'd just love to have a turbo car, and a turbo z would just b the ultimate (or an sr20 lotus 7, but...they r ugly lol) fuel consumption of the zed is no longer an issue - it will probably never b my daily again, as i think the zed deserves better, i've had 1 car written off due to idiots on the road, and another few light crashes where idiots have managed to go into the back of me (or my gf) in peak hour as they were not paying attention! I think an l31 with ITB's would be awesome, however if i went down that path i'd want to do it to a 240z RBZ260, you have to many cars and its not fair. There are some nice cheap auto s15s out there huh! i think the LSD in them is viscous instead of helical, but still for the cheaper price its good - i'd like to get a spec r gt, or put some nicer fabric/suede seats into a normal spec r, just coz i've gotten a love for sunroofs (and a dislike for plain fabric interiors, not being to fussy or anything ) - i'd never put one in the zed, so i figure it'd b a good compromise This is quite a long train of through, but writing the post the other day got me thinking how nice it would b to b able to go to a go kart track (or kite surfing on hot days) a couple of nights after work (and they have the major advantage of no insurance, fines, or bodywork to worry about). The only track i could really get to within a reasonable time is the one under the westgate, but then i'd have to drive into work which is a nightmare thanks to eastlink. I am hating the time wasted commuting to work and back, which is an hour minimum. The solution to these problems would be moving out, (which is something i basically promised myself i'd do after catching public transport to the same office for a year in 2007) The only reasons not to move out are the economic issues - those world wide and how that might effect my employment status, and it taking money away from the zed, which i'd prob leave the zed at my parent's house and only work on it on the weekends. ATM i find it impossible to b motivated to work on it by the time i get home anyway (although i'd have to cook for myself instead of getting it supplied - therefore possibly equaling out to the same thing - but with many other 'personal growth' possitives). Anyway, this brings up the solution of not really needing a daily driver (except for getting a go kart to the track, lol) as i could nearly ride a pushbike everywhere, scab a lift, or tolerate public transport as it'd only be a couple of trips a week max...not 10! And therefore making this thread nearly completely pointless...

Pretty pointless post, but I'm curious as to peoples thoughts on having a 'sporty' daily driver - as i know there are a few people on here who have exactly that as well as their zeds. Does this badly eat into your 'zed's pockets? is it hard to not want to just go crazy on modding the daily driver? I figure that being realistic it will be a couple of years before my zed is on the road, (factoring in wasting money and time on other things) and i dont see any real reason to rush it instead of enjoy the process while having a life outside of it, and build it up to be what i've always wanted - besides the fact i'm missing driving something entertaining. At the same time paying for rego, insurance, petrol etc etc, in a car which has been nice to own as 'something differnt', and is very practical (subaru outback), its getting depressing. I had a few things in mind for it, but after driving my mates wrx, no matter what i do to the suspension i dont see it ever having that kind of feel due to its larger size (maybe i should test drive a GTB to c if thats actully the case) The sad thing is i'm not driving that much right now, as am catching public transport on weekdays - maybe i should just get a go kart...or a lotus 7. However an S15 is what i have in mind, as I've always liked them, and now seems like the most sensible time to own one, if there ever was such a thing, as its still possible to find one in good nick, I could have it for a few years until the zed can replace it, and then go back to a turbo shaggin waggon daily (or hopefully public transport will be good enough to not need a daily - which i doubt).
