  1. No, just more work on this one!
  2. lol - I did all that work on my Z between '99 and '05. I got married in '08. You do the math ;D

    Return line ??

Actually, you should have a chat with Johnny to see what he was using with the very setup you now have. His info will be 'newer' than mine!

Yeah Mick, the 'VL' pump will be fine for the engine side. I used a Carter low-pressure pump when I had a surge tank setup in my Z. I'm not sure what options are around these days. Have a chat to the guys at Outlaw Speed Shop in the city, or your favourite Dyno tuning mob.

No & No You should get a low-pressure, self priming roller-cell pump for the surge tank, and use a high-pressure roller-cell pump for the engine. The Facet pump will only flow a very small volume of fuel.
  6. And to be doubly sure - you stated '72, so the x-member would attach to the body via 2 horizontal bolts.

One option is using the drain plug as a pick up. I would suggest drilling and tapping the drain plug itself as the thread in the tank is tapered, and not consistent with those used on pipe fittings. I welded an extra fitting into my tank, but my dad has gone with the drain-plug idea.
  8. Congrats! Must be - we had our second 6 weeks ago...

That would be done by the standard atmospherically-vented 240Z fuel tank (in my case). Although, I have used a Speedflow roll-over valve to prevent fuel sloshing in the vent line when cornering to the left. It allows vapour flow, but any 'sharp' positive ressure change causes it to close off. It seems to work a treat.
  10. Is that a genuine 8 Track from a 240Z? or a random 8 track that's been stashed in the shed for 30 years?
  11. Don't discount buying genuine - you might find it cheaper to buy them via Courtesy Nissan in TX than from your local dealer...
  12. Are you having issues with the spark breaking down? Are you running big turbo boost? Does your engine burn more oil than petrol? If the answer is 'no' to all of these, then probably not. I've seen standard R30 ignition (same as any N/A L6 EFI) make a spark healthy enough to cope with 17psi boost...
  13. That sounds like the same old 'human element' that screws most things up! I shall hurry up & wait...
  14. The information form submission leaves a bit to be desired, but there's certainly no indication of if not going ahead. Hopefully some more information will be forthcoming soon which will clear things up. Lurch, do you know the origin of the rumour?
  15. Nice work guys. I'm inspired already! Got some Kameari bits coming from the US, along with another P90 head from NSW, and I've just fitted a 60mm TB. I plan on having my 'mild' turbo engine back in one piece by the end of next moth, and hopefully turning 300HP in plenty of time for the nationals.

Yes, because you are priming the surge tank with a low pressure pump - if there's no return to the tank, then there's NO return to the tank. This will cause significant heating of the fuel, and may prematurely cause your low pressure pump to fail. I used the standard 240Z feed as my return and ran a new 3/8 feed with a Bosch '910' pump.
  17. There is not one image in that engine package item that shows a 280ZX...
  18. Considering getting a head from Sydney area - anyone travelling cross country in the near future?
  19. Fit a wide-stator Bosch alt. from a 910 Bluebird (series 1 auto I believe). I've got one of these modified to 90+Amps in my 240Z. I wouldn't rely on the original spec. parts with the external reg to keep 2x thermo fans happy - on a hot day in traffic (or at night) I think you'd flatten the battery.
  20. There's some good data here (for those of us that probably won't ever get there): http://press.nissan-global.com/COMMON/HERITAGE/database/en_index.html Make sure you go to the Prince Museum too (it'a apparently in an underground 'bunker' in some small village). There are GT-R prototypes there, along with other unique Prince/Nissan cars.
  21. You'll probably be able to export them to our friends State-side. There is a demand for this very part since the 200ZR sump became NLA a little while back.
  22. The R33/34 or Brembo upgrade is the obvious choice here in Australia (R33 GTST hardware is dirt cheap, and it's been done before). Otherwise you could go for something like this: http://www.modern-motorsports.com/catalog/product_info.php?cPath=60_61&products_id=55 http://www.modern-motorsports.com/catalog/product_info.php?cPath=60_61&products_id=58 But I expect that the cost difference would weight heavily in favour of the Nissan stuff, including the cost of brackets and re-drilling the discs.
  23. Rebello's have been building stinking hot motors in the US for years. I bought some bits from them a long time ago.
  24. Nope & nope - unless you convert to a Z31 (or perhaps RB30) ECU with MAF. The L28E dizzy is mechanical with electronic ignition (reluctor to stand-alone igniter), the L20A/28ET dizzy is electronically controlled with optical triggering (i.e. the ECU controls the timing, not bob-weights inside the dizzy). There is no way for the L28E ECU to interface with a turbo dizzy.
