Enzo Posted December 21, 2011 Posted December 21, 2011 Merry Christmas from Western Australia. Have a safe and happy Christmas and New Year. An old Irish quote. "May the road rise to meet you May the wind be always at your back The sun shine warm upon your face The rains fall soft upon your fields And until we meet again, May God hold you in the hollow of his hand". Merry Christmas David Quote

reverendzed Posted December 22, 2011 Posted December 22, 2011 Hey guys, Have an awesome Christmas! Although I have been a little quiet this end many of you have never been far from our thoughts. Life here in the U.S has been busier than I could have ever expected (average of 70-80 hours every week) and for those that know me would realise that whilst I love to work hard making a difference, I'm KNACKERED! I will be taking a few week break when Benny and Fizz come over to visit with my new Grandson Charlie, and at this stage we plan for a return to Australia around June 2012. Miss you guys heaps and look forward to catching up when I return. Have a blessed and safe Christmas and New Year. Rev and Mel. Quote

chris240 Posted December 25, 2011 Posted December 25, 2011 Lurch I had a good read of the thread....looks very sad. Its caught somewhere between the indigenous custodians , Local Council & a handful of ex catalina racers who want to see it "tidied"up & weeded Im keen to drive along it for Nostalgia sake...can someone give me directions Quote
PeterAllen Posted December 25, 2011 Posted December 25, 2011 ...Im keen to drive along it for Nostalgia sake...can someone give me directions Red Hill St... Park in the unsealed carpark of the Katoomba Sports and Aquatic Centre, it is at the exit of The Tunnel of Love and adjacent to the beginning of the start/finish straight. I'm not sure that there is any legal vehicular access to the actual circuit. Quote
C.A.R. Posted December 25, 2011 Author Posted December 25, 2011 The circuit is in such poor condition these days, that a complete lap is not possible And if you did manage to drive on it, the local police would not be very impressed... Quote
madz Posted December 25, 2011 Posted December 25, 2011 Got absolutely spoiled by the big fella and his family yesterday. Wonderful Christmas this year. Hope everyone had as much joy as I! Jane Quote
dat2kman Posted December 26, 2011 Posted December 26, 2011 Merriexesmas madz! Im glad to say i raced at Catalina in the mid 80's as rounds of the NSW CAMS Speed Event Championship were held atthete in 84, 85 & 86. I won my class in my old orange Datsun 1600 , got a couple of pics of me exiting rhe "tunnel of love" onto the straight in frint of the pits. Even better, my Datsun Sports 2000, driven by its original owner, David Mingay, won outright, races thete in late 60's early 70's, in the little Dato. One time on a driver familiarisation track walk, at Catalina, i asked the instructor, " what are all the deep gouges in the wooden sleepers at waist height from?" He replied, "back in the day, they'd come three wide through the tunnel of love, the outside cars door handles would be hard against the timber sleepers the whole way around, these were the big touring cars, Beechey, Jane, Et al" The gouges ate still there! And i hope santa brought ypu all, some lovely stuff, i got two bags of salted peanuts, and a rootard HR 30 turbo skyline to pull apart Quote
