Does anyone know this car ????

Is it worth flying down to VIC to look at.

"Ordered from new with the mag wheels that it wears today, the sale also includes the standard steel wheels and hubcaps that have never seen road use."

The wheels and hubcaps would have to be worth $200.00-$2500 based on what I have seen lately.

Chassis no. is HS30-100844

This seems to low for 73 model based on WA register.

LHS guard and door look like different shades of white.

Looks like it benefits from the earlier style carbs - by '73 the flat-tops were fitted; & the mechanical fuel pump deleted.

Needs a thorough going over with lots of new bits going by the report, but if there's no significant rust then a sensible buy perhaps.

Not sure about the carbs and fuel pump. My 240 was purchased from the original owner and is a '73,  came with mechanical pump and 3 screw hitachi's (see image).

My chassis is a 103 also, why is there such a gap in the chassis no.'s???

Looks like it had/has a leaky clutch master? Looks like rust near that area.. Would make a great car to partially restore...

No I meant that the mech pump has been deleted on this car; it would have had mech originally.

I understand from all my literature that the '73 models were less popular & driveable than the '72 & earlier 240's because of the flat-top carbs & their issues, unless that was more the case in the USA & the Aussie cars still got the round-tops, or were perhaps older stock. That's why I was thinking that the carbs have been swapped over. Either way, they are the ones to have.

FYI: The 73 240z in the Australian market always had the round top SU's. It was the US model that got emissions carbs in 73 not the Aussie market. In Australia it was 74 that saw the introduction of horrible flat top SU's along with the 260z model.

You just replied when I did, but yeah it was the US market. :)

You calling the 260z horrible Gav ? My '74 260z has both the mechanical fuel pump and flat tops and they actually run quite well.

Not quite, but I guess it depends on how you read it ;). No the 260z (better chassis) was fine it was all the emissions stuff under the hood that wasn't so flash.

Gav: What is better about the 260 chassis?

Gav: What is better about the 260 chassis?

Stronger, stiffer, more modern safety features like non bust-able door locks - that is the post 75 260z 2 seater shells I am talking about.

Gav - Also Flat top carbs run very well when setup correctly so don't rule them out - it is just that most don't bother and move the 240z round top carbs as more know about how to set them up ;) And remember not all markets are the same ;) most NZ 260z don't have any pollution control stuff at all - ie my 76 260z 2 seater is very very different to Oz spec'd 260z 2 seaters I have seen here in NZ.

I just took a look at the 240

It's all there -however:

rusty chassis rails.........a cheap repaint some time ago, bubbles of rust in numerous places, interior needs a retrim , seats split, dash cracked .

Recent repaired l/h guard, major concern is that the from right strut tower has been redrilled...............you can see this in the photo on the shannon site. inner guard looks ro be original however it must have had a big hit to warrant redrilling the strut tower to get the camber to match the right side !

Agreed

Hope it goes off the richter scale. The good thing about Shannon's Auctions is that they tend to have a very good coverage of enthusiasts, so a lot of people should be aware of this one. I did attend a Shannon's Auction in Alexandria Sydney some five or so years ago and amongst this private collection of 100 or so cars that were sold was a metallic blue 240Z that sold for $25K. The actual car was in my view relatively shabby, and very very original, ie everything warn and broken.

I just had a look at the photo.. that right hand strut tower looks pretty dodgey. I think its had a hard hit at some stage  :o

what i cant work out is. If they had to re drill the strut tops to get the camber right. That means the strut tower is about 10 to 15 mm to far in :o how do they get the panels to fit propper. I had trouble trying to get mine to fit when mine was only a few mm out

The condition report makes interesting reading, but no info on the alleged hit it's had in the front right.

I imagine you would have problems trying to get it relicenced with that sort of dodgey "repair".
