Look closely and you can see underneath where he swept up before taking the shot. Take a shot of the other side of the workshop and we all know that behind the scenes is a different story. Another Classic saved by the Auto Fabrications Expert

Mick,

this car was never lime.  It was silver.  I hate silver so I'm still working out its future colour, but lime is in the top 3 (Lime, Red or Fantale Orange (the VF orange))

So here she is ready for a road trip:

And arriving safe and sound (ish)

Some work from the master:

The battery tray - easy done  ;)

No it wasn't! It took me bloody hours!

I'ts VERY difficult to make that section in one piece, as it it's bulbous shape in a reverse curve.

How much fun are those seat mounts to remove Lurchos?

Bit of a nuisance mate, but I got to most of the spot welds from underneath ;)

So when do we get a how to replace your floor pans tutorial from the master of Z restoration?

Can it still be done without putting the car on a rotisserie, up on axle stands?

I have done both floor pans and chassis rails while the car was on jack stands.

If you don't like welding up side down to weld in the cassis rails you can do most of the plug welds from in side the car.

Yep the only tough part is along the trans tunnel where you stitch weld it. The rest is plug welded along the inner rocker panel, lower footwell and just behind the seat after you drill out all the spot welds. If you raise the vehicle on one side you can can complete the welds underneath. If the car hasn't been blasted then most of the deadener will be loosened enough from the inside welds  to clean off easily with a wire brush (it also has a tendency to catch fire too but goes out quickly) simples.

Great to see some pace in this project.

Simon, we don't need another red zed; you can have my paint if you want! I'd go for the lime!

If we're looking at colour options in my opinion the most underrated s30z colour for 240z's is the original blue shade.

Hello everybody - I'm not dead - yet.

There has been very little progress for quite a while - between fires, floods, injuries, unsuccessful treatments, surgeries, rehab, work, more fires, more floods, more injuries ........

Anyway, it seems that things are settling down a little (did I just say that as we come into another potentially terrible fire summer?) and I've got a bit of leave coming up.  :)

I've decided on colour (not telling) and decided to paint the underside, inside and engine bay myself.  Then I can start the stuff I like best and get the bloody rotisorie out of the way.  I'm very excited so hopefully I can get the paddocks slashed and baled in the next week or so and get into the shed. ::)

Sorry I missed the christmas party, but I hope you all have a happy and safe Christmas and spend it with those that you love (Zeds) - and your families. >:D

Just to show that I'm still alive I should post the meagre amount of progress I have made.

With all the rust removed (as if all the rust can ever be removed) I seam sealed and stoneguarded the underside and the interior.

I have since primed it again as I plan to paint the whole car in body colour.

I have now moved house again and the new place has a shed that we built around 1880 and was used by the PO to make compressed sawdust briquettes, so it is full of dust, leaks water/wind and houses 3 possums.

Plans for a new shed are just going to Council, so hopefully a new shed in the next couple of months.  With a new shed comes new responsibilities ???  ::)

I saw that the member that produces the entertaining and informative videos of his build - you know the one, he bats well above his average - has one of those portable carports inside his garage that he uses as a spray booth.  I reckon it is one of the smartest things I have seen; so I'll be getting one of those.  And a hoist ;D  ;D ;D

With a better designed shed and a drop down to only 2.5 acres and 40 minutes closer to work, I'm hoping to have some more time and energy to tinker.
