NZeder Posted February 14, 2014 Posted February 14, 2014 Toyo make a 235/50/15 in the R888 semi but dot rated. That is the widest that I know of without going to histroic type yokos or mich or drag type tyre aka large side walls. Well in 15's that is Quote
mossy Posted February 15, 2014 Author Posted February 15, 2014 I've had the r888's before Mike, great tyre but I'm going to stay away from track tyres as I hate the way they spit all the stones into your guards. Just looking at different tyre manufacturers in 225/50/15 and you can see the OD of a few of them are a bit different. Dimitri I thought the factory tyre was a 195/70/14 which would give an OD of 24.7in (627mm) Quote
mossy Posted March 20, 2014 Author Posted March 20, 2014 Just got these tie rods from nagisa auto japan, hopefully they will cure the bumpsteer! Quote
d3c0y Posted March 20, 2014 Posted March 20, 2014 Are they shorter? What's the difference with them? How much are they? Quote
Cozza Posted March 20, 2014 Posted March 20, 2014 Wow they look the goods. Suit your car perfectly. Do you plan on running the strut spacers as well? And, what sort of mileage do you expect to get from them? Cheers Mick Quote
Riceburner Posted March 20, 2014 Posted March 20, 2014 They look awesome in your pics, it was hard to tell how good they'd be from the add photos. Is the 'pin' height adjustable as well? Quote
mossy Posted March 20, 2014 Author Posted March 20, 2014 Are they shorter? What's the difference with them? How much are they? I haven't compared them to the stock ones so not sure on the length difference, I guess the main difference is they are adjustable and the arm is straight compared to the angles of the stock arms, cost is a bit over $400 so...expensive! Wow they look the goods. Suit your car perfectly. Do you plan on running the strut spacers as well? And, what sort of mileage do you expect to get from them? Cheers Mick I dont think I'll be running the spacers. Mileage I have no idea but I hope they dont wear out. They look awesome in your pics, it was hard to tell how good they'd be from the add photos. Is the 'pin' height adjustable as well? They have 4 spacers, 2 above and 2 below the rod end so I imagine you should be able to shuffle them. When I'm ready to install them I'll take the car to trackside tyres for the alignment and to make sure there is no binding but according to the website it says there is about 40 degrees working angle, equivelent to original. Further , when lowering the vehicle height , corrects the " state Banzai " Quote
d3c0y Posted March 20, 2014 Posted March 20, 2014 Awesome, so just let us know how they go most importantly! Quote
mossy Posted August 23, 2014 Author Posted August 23, 2014 Almost back on the road after almost 7 months in the garage. I have done a few mods since then, I've ditched the throttle linkage system and gone with a Lokar cable system, the 16x8 watanabes are also gone and in its place are a new set of the same wheels but in 15x8 with 225/50 tyres. A new set of coilovers have gone in as well, koni yellows (300zx) with 24mm sectioned struts front and rear with 175 and 200 pound eibach springs, will have to raise it from its current height though as there looks like there is about 10mm travel front and a tiny bit more in the rear before it would hit the bump stops, another option might be to shorten the factory isolators which I remember someone mentioning a little while ago Quote
Retro Z Posted August 23, 2014 Posted August 23, 2014 You've set the bar high Mark. Can i ask why the change to 15's?. Any pics of the throttle cable setup? Quote
NZeder Posted August 23, 2014 Posted August 23, 2014 I would say because they are period correct, look/size is perfect for the wheel arch etc. I am thinking of selling my 16" Watanabes and going to 15" also. But I am thinking of running period rubber also some of the CR65 Dunlops to suit at least 9" wide shoes for the flared zed. Quote
mossy Posted August 24, 2014 Author Posted August 24, 2014 Mike's pretty much spot on, I really liked the 16's, I just felt from some angles they were slightly too big, I'm really liking the look of the new wheel size, especially with the meatier tyre. Here is a pic of the cable setup as well. Quote
adam Posted August 24, 2014 Posted August 24, 2014 Your car looks amazing, Mark. 15s definitely look better on your car. I really hope you can attend this year's classic Japan so I can finally see this thing in person. Just park away from me because it'll make my car look bad! Quote
mossy Posted August 24, 2014 Author Posted August 24, 2014 I was on the fence about 15's or 16's at the start, I had a small collection of 15in watanabe pics on 240z's I kept looking at (including yours) and I eventually had to make the change, the more I look at them the more i like them. I hope to make classic japan in December too, happy to park side by side, I think they'll look good together! Quote
Cozza Posted August 24, 2014 Posted August 24, 2014 Great looking car Mossy What were your previous spring rates and how different does it feel steering wise? More pics please Mick Quote
mossy Posted August 27, 2014 Author Posted August 27, 2014 Great looking car Mossy What were your previous spring rates and how different does it feel steering wise? More pics please Mick previous spring rates were 225F/250R, now 175F/200R, I went softer as its a street only car. I haven't been out for a drive with the new coilovers yet as I only started it today for the first time in 6 months, I've also got to sort out the suspension as I've got about 1.5 in travel in the rear and only about 15mm in the front, nowhere near enough, struts were sectioned 24mm all around, I think if I go with fixed pillowball mounts I should get about another 1.5in bump but just worried about the extra noise which may come with it. gav240z 1 Quote

mossy Posted September 19, 2014 Author Posted September 19, 2014 Mossy i have been trolling for HP numbers on this thread.....what did it end up putting down? just out of interest No HP numbers mate as Les did a road tune on it. mossy Posted November 11, 2014 Author Posted November 11, 2014 Installed a heat shield under the carbs, for those of you with the SW headers you've probably noticed there is very little room so a 2" nylon domed hammer helped with some massaging of the heat shield. gav240z 1 Quote
mossy Posted June 25, 2015 Author Posted June 25, 2015 Might start looking at some different air filter options after noticing this in the zed. Quote
Administrators gav240z Posted June 25, 2015 Administrators Posted June 25, 2015 Get an airbox made, that's what I plan to do with triples. None of these horrid socks.... Quote
Gordo Posted June 25, 2015 Posted June 25, 2015 Hey Mossy, where have you been. It's been a while. Did you get a good tune up done on the Zed? Quote
mossy Posted June 25, 2015 Author Posted June 25, 2015 Get an airbox made, that's what I plan to do with triples. None of these horrid socks.... That's what I'm thinking of doing. I'm always worried when I heard the carbs pop. Hey Mossy, where have you been. It's been a while. Did you get a good tune up done on the Zed? I've wanted to come out for a drive but whenever you guys meet up I've been racing my bike so haven't had much time, September should see me driving the zed a bit more. Daniel from DJM helped out and got it running nicely. Quote
