Sirpent Posted April 17, 2011 Author Posted April 17, 2011 Thanks Pete, BUT ! I'm building this for myself, and anything I learn or develop along the way i enjoy sharing, it will be a special car in a class of other Hybrids like Kato's etc, then there are the purist cars like Adam and Aaron's in Sydney, and your race car, all of them are special as is every Zed discussed on this forum for the simple fact that they are all here and still amongst us and not in some scrap yard waiting to be shredded or in a paddock rusting a slow death. I know some ppl on here must be a bit sick of my insignificant posts and I apologise if I become a bit anal at times, but one day I'm going to sit down when its all said and done and read this thread from start to end and laugh cringe and ask myself why the hell did you write that as I sit in some retirement home in a wheel chair with a tarten blanket and hush puppies and gaze out the window and look at it sitting in the driveway next to Simon Maygz zed in the adjoining one, isn't that right Simon? peter mc Posted April 17, 2011 Posted April 17, 2011 no we love the detail that you put in and i think you sell your self short Quote
zzzzed Posted April 17, 2011 Posted April 17, 2011 yep john I would not even try to put my build in the same ligue of yours I am enjoying your work its an awesome inspiration Quote
Sirpent Posted April 17, 2011 Author Posted April 17, 2011 Mick, thanks however Neither would I put mine in your league, just look at the bodywork you undertook and ask yourself how lucky i was not to have to undertake what you have? Thats inspiration. Quote
zzzzed Posted April 17, 2011 Posted April 17, 2011 yeh thanx man.. although tedious i find the body work the easy part.. what you are doing with your electrics and engineering scares the crap out of me. I never was good at that part of it Quote
MaygZ Posted April 17, 2011 Posted April 17, 2011 ... it will be a special car in a class of other Hybrids like Kato's etc, then there are the purist cars like Adam and Aaron's in Sydney, and your race car, all of them are special ... Isn't mine special too?? :'( ... as I sit in some retirement home in a wheel chair with a tarten blanket and hush puppies and gaze out the window and look at it sitting in the driveway next to Simon Maygz zed in the adjoining one, isn't that right Simon? Just like the notebook. Every weekend I'll tell you what a slut you were when you were younger until you finally believe it. then I'll overdose you with sleeping pills, forgetting to take mine, and ride off into the sunset in a supercharged Merc V6 Zed. Laughing my head off!! I'm very much enjoying your build. Do a good job. So I'll have a better one to drive off in from our retirement home. Don't you laugh Loui, I'll be straight up to pick up MY rotisserie Quote
Sirpent Posted April 18, 2011 Author Posted April 18, 2011 Simon Somehow I think that a lot of us will end up divorced and living out our days with Zed's in our driveways in the same retirement village, and don't worry about reminding me of my wild days, I have the pics to prove and remind me LMAO On another note, this is the vid of the first bench test of the wired up Climate control I did this morning. Cheers John Quote

Sirpent Posted April 19, 2011 Author Posted April 19, 2011 Bit of an update and also look into what is involvedwhen plastic welding as some members asked to see pics of the process. I went to weld the final section in today and took a series of pics, the last 2 show the first coat of filler and also the rear end of the garnish, I know it look horrid from the back but the strengh is fantastic, so since no one will ever get to see if pffffft ! Plastic doners for all of this were 1 S30 260Z vent garnish 1 Nissan Ativa vent panel 1 Mitsubishi Verada vent panel 1 EA Falcon Glove Box Door and 1 Victa lawn mower catcher I cut into strip for welding. Sirpent Posted April 20, 2011 Author Posted April 20, 2011 Thanks Simon, Yeah I'm on a mission now to get this done so I can do the mod on the center floor console to match up to it, here is today's effort, first prime and sand back of the fascia, will put on a few more coats this evening to pick up on some of the minor defects. sexual_sushi Posted April 20, 2011 Posted April 20, 2011 Looking bloody good John! It's really old now but keep the 3 circle theme going with this head unit Quote
Sirpent Posted April 21, 2011 Author Posted April 21, 2011 Yeah Would go well with the triple circle theme, but would end up with a channel 9 logo.........LOL So just when you all thought that it was safe to go back in the water, the madness continues. Jaws, or should I say my angle grinder ripped straight into the centre console today and I did a trial mock fit, now the fun begins ! Cheers John Quote
