In two minds though, should I cut this shell up and use pieces on my matching numbers #1001 or sacrifice my shell for this? Or do I end up with more Z's than brains? Regardless, will post up how it looks. Quote
thriller Posted April 11, 2012 Posted April 11, 2012 Yep. I have most series 1 parts around the place anyway, makes more sense to do that. Going to have a look Sunday. Quote

Why doesn't the seller list it as a package. Might list my bus for $50k to lift the values. God knows {and the wife} I have spent near to that in the great Z journey. I keep Telling her a man has to have a hobby. Just paid the rego for it's second year on the road, so no more bits allowed for a while. Quote

handsandwhich Posted April 20, 2012 Posted April 20, 2012 Seller says "engine will be detailed before delivery" but I guess they could have done it before putting it up. Quote
MaygZ Posted April 20, 2012 Posted April 20, 2012 My GOD. The 80's have got a lot to appologise for! At what stage in the human decline did someone think that that combination of tacky plastic and stomach churning velour looked good together?? The outside doesn't look too bad. At least it's in good condition Quote
chris240 Posted April 20, 2012 Posted April 20, 2012 In the 80s we joked about the size of the bumpers on volvos, but hey , this ones up there also Also you have to love the cassette deck, its bigger than our 4 slice toaster !! Quote

At what stage in the human decline did someone think that that combination of tacky plastic and stomach churning velour looked good together?? The outside doesn't look too bad. At least it's in good condition I think a lot of the manufacturers in the 80's were guilty of 'pimping' it up with those interiors. Even the holden interiors from the SLE/Calais was getting up there, albeit a bit more restrained with the plushness of the velour. Besides, smack a few motorised lcd monitors in there and it would not look out of place in an episode of pimp my ride. Quote

A little off topic but: I was at a car show last weekend and saw something amazing! It was in a convertable and I think it was an early Fiat. It had a record player hung under the dash. It looked OE. It played 45's (ask your parents if you don't know what that means ) Quote

Yes you could by an aftermarket vinyl record player that mounted under the dash. ( i have an original Rolling Stones "bootleg" album of the Hyde Park live concert, done four days after Brian Jones died. Bootleg??? Wassat you say!! It has been authenticated and is valued at over $10,000. A far better option was an 8 track Cartridge player, also under dash. I still have my fathers (RIP) collection of 8 track cartridges, as well as a 8" Akai combo reel to reel with side mount cartridge unit, and a 10" reel to reel Revox. All Quadrophonic playback. He owned a 1968 Buick Skylark GS Convertible, the one with the 455 C. i. motor. Yes,,,,, aaaahhhhh,,,,, the 80's,,,,, flares,,,,, wide lapel shirts,,,,,, and Safari suits. GTFO !!! Quote
MickieB Posted April 23, 2012 Posted April 23, 2012 I used to have a beautiful 1961 holden ute i restored that had a working 8 track. Well at least it seemed to work, couldn't get any cartridges. Quote

This would be a serious monster. Quote
