Interesting, I reckon credit is much tighter at the moment, so may have something to do with it?

I sent an inquiry in about finance just to see what kind of interest rate it would be, and the bloke told me another fella in Lane Cove had asked about finance on the same vehicle. (could have been 1 of the previous owners ;)).

I was worried it would get sent abroad, hopefully it stays local.

A friend just text me who was at the Pickles-Gosford Auction with orange 240z, it sold for $53,500 + 5.5% BP. (He didn't get it.)

$55,250 it went for

It was one of the stronger ones that was sold first, a couple of the other cars struggled

Anyone know what the Bolwell Mk7 went for?  Thanks

$80K-$90K 260Z by the time you restore it correctly.

I'm open to offers on my 240z for $160K including the NOS spares I have collected over the years.

Well, I just took the 240 for the first drive in 7 months on one of my favourite roads and I have to say no amount of money will ever buy this car.

I feel nervous when I haven't driven her for a while as no modern car needs to be caressed like this one to be driven smoothly, once all the fluids are warm it does not take long to remind me how fucking great 240z's are. The noise that comes from the back of the car when you lift of the power is like nothing I have ever heard in any other car. The balance when you have when flat in 3rd gear through twisting country roads is intoxicating.

Guess I am keeping this till I die :)

I was going to quote just the last sentence, but actually why not the whole thing!

This is how I feel about mine too. The longer I own them the more I like them.

No amount of money can replace them.

PS: I've seen your car and level of detail / quality of build. Few and far between at that level.

*** Big Smile Reading This ***

Yep, well that's why I try and drive mine every day. Yea, sure she's only a 2+2 and I'm only 30k+ in so far, and I'll probably be in 60k+ by the end. Still going to drive it every day.

I've owned a number of cars over the years, including a new Zed. But nothing can beat the smell, the sound, the interior view, or the feel of these cars. Puts a huge smile on my face every time I drive it... Which is every day :)

Cheers,

Rob

The moral of the story.... Drive your bloody cars.. NO POINT OWNING THEM OTHERWISE... ;)

This Z was restored by Chris Pilling of Spraydat tel 0407302475. It was his personal car.  I have had two cars restored by Chris and he does very good work. However, Chris sold this Z some time ago and I think there is a not so good story of what happened subsequently. Ring Chris, he knows the details.

Really like the look of this

https://www.gumtree.com.au/s-ad/burpengary/cars-vans-utes/datsun-240z-1971-model/1185947138

Anyone seen this car in person?

I genuinely feel sorry for an owner of this car trying to sell it.  So many fraudsters have used photos of it that I see an ad for it for sale and have a Nigerian Prince response !  This one looks like the real deal this time and a different set of photos at least.

Yeah it's sort of tainted it, unfortunately.

I haven't seen it in person, but she was rough before her restoration.

I heard that it had a massive rear end hit since its restoration,  destroyed and bent the car right thru the body, i think the entire rear 1/4 to 1/3 of the car would have had to been replaced

If memory serves correctly the new owner did mention a front-end hit and repair. I have to find the thread though!

Sadly not having much luck, but perhaps best to speak to the owner about it.
