MATTY Posted July 26, 2017 Posted July 26, 2017 Well its been awhile since ive been on here and went to update my build thread with whats been happening, or rather what hasn't now. only to find out PB now want a paid service to allow 3rd psrty hosting so i can share links to pictures on the forum? looks like a bit of stuffing around to re up date my photos on my thread if i can remember what they were haha. Ah well i though id just mention this, but im sure others are already aware of this and i hadn't saw a post about it (**puts flame suit on** it might be on here but i can;t find it if it is haha) Cheers Matty Quote
Administrators gav240z Posted July 26, 2017 Administrators Posted July 26, 2017 Well I never put my faith in photobucket, but you can use the image upload feature here instead? Good time to call for a donation. Photobuckets move was very much a greedy corporate decision really..nothing but a money grab. Quote

C.A.R. Posted July 26, 2017 Posted July 26, 2017 Just use Google Photo's....................... Quote
garvice Posted July 26, 2017 Posted July 26, 2017 I had same issue. Tried using google drive but it only lets you send out a link to the google drive location so you can't imbed a photo. Only one I find to work with a direct image link was Flickr. Andrew_L26 1 Quote
Administrators gav240z Posted July 27, 2017 Administrators Posted July 27, 2017 Google Photos frustrating doesn't provide an easy way to embed images in third party websites, although there is no real reason other than the fact they haven't developed this functionality yet. I am hoping in future they do. Flickr as mentioned does allow third party embedding. I understand Photobucket probably did an analysis of their data and realised many third party websites benefited from their hosting but charging $300-$400 is excessive. Charging $10 p/month would be far more reasonable. Quote

Photobuckets move was very much a greedy corporate decision really..nothing but a money grab. Yeah it was good while it lasted. Might be time for that donation too haha. money grab is an understatement. i though the image up load feature only put the images in thumbnail format down the bottom and some times can be a pain to go through when you have severals photos to post? any who more stuffing around updating build threads and what not but ah well Quote
Riceburner Posted July 28, 2017 Posted July 28, 2017 From someone who is computer illiterate, I've always found the image upload feature very easy to use here. I'm finding so many threads that are ruined due to photobucket across multiple Z sites! CBR Jeff 1 Quote
KatoKid Posted July 29, 2017 Posted July 29, 2017 Agree with Gareth and others on this. Image upload alternative provides some reassurance if you want you build thread to be documented for prosperity. I would be shattered if I lost all the images in my thread CBR Jeff 1 Quote

C.A.R. Posted August 19, 2017 Posted August 19, 2017 If you are using Google Chrome, install this extension & all PB images on any forum will reappear: https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/photobucket-embed-fix/naolkcpnnlofnnghnmfegnfnflicjjgj?hl=en peter t, scott, PeterAllen and 1 other 4 Quote

peter t Posted August 20, 2017 Posted August 20, 2017 Still got no idea what you guys are talking about so I will just keep pushing buttons until I find one that works. Quote
Administrators gav240z Posted August 20, 2017 Administrators Posted August 20, 2017 Still got no idea what you guys are talking about so I will just keep pushing buttons until I find one that works. Photobucket is blocking all images that have been embedded in a third party website (such as this forum), they can determine that based on referral information (a referral from this domain viczcar.com) means the image is hosted externally and they are blocking these for a fee. The plugin linked to above allows the referrer to be scrubbed so it appears that the image is being accessed directly and bypasses photobucket blocking the images from displaying. Problem is you need the plugin to do this and therefore it will only work for those who have installed the plugin. It's a good way for folks to save images in their threads and then upload here or gives them the ability to move away from photobucket really. Quote
PeterAllen Posted August 20, 2017 Posted August 20, 2017 I understand this is the one for Firefox. https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/photobucket-fix/?src=cb-dl-updated Quote
1600dave Posted September 7, 2017 Posted September 7, 2017 This seems to work, at least for me on another forum : edit your photobucket links to have "~original" after the .jpg C.A.R. 1 Quote
dat2kman Posted September 11, 2017 Posted September 11, 2017 Well, most of the images, and charts, in the thread on cylinder head indentification, aren't showing.? gav240z 1 Quote
Administrators gav240z Posted September 12, 2017 Administrators Posted September 12, 2017 The first rule of photobucket is to stop using it! The second rule is to save the images and re-upload here. This seems to work, at least for me on another forum : edit your photobucket links to have "~original" after the .jpg This forum has some restrictions around image extensions to prevent malicious content being inserted into the forum. I will see what can be done about changing this after the upgrade to the newest version of this software. Quote
Six_Shooter Posted September 25, 2017 Posted September 25, 2017 If you are using Google Chrome, install this extension & all PB images on any forum will reappear: https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/photobucket-embed-fix/naolkcpnnlofnnghnmfegnfnflicjjgj?hl=en I don't think it's the same one, but I just found out about one that comes up as "Photobucket Hotlink Fix" for Chrome. It seems to be working for me, since there was a thread that previosly didn't show the pictures hosted by PB, but they did show up just a few minutes ago. I only installed the extension yesterday. So basically, there seems to be a few extensions for Chrome that will fix this issue. Quote
