i remember seeing it on gumtree and people asking/talkng about it here on the third party for sale thread well it would appear some one bought it and it now resides in toowoomba and saw it at a local meet tonight you will have to forgive me for the shitty pic but after talking to the fella i could see its the same car just with the rota RB's on it as per advertised on gumtree.

point being is that given its condition a few years back its just gotten worse and is sad to see it deteriorate more and more when it could be shown a little tlc and be made something decent

Ha no, I think the problem is no one new how shit it was back when it first started doing the rounds. It had rust covered up by white tape and was generally a 10 foot car.

Only thing that looks to have changed to me is the swap from Equip 01s to RB-Xs.

The upturn in values then prices the cars out of reach of the aformentioned "flatbrims"

I do remember the car and the 24k price tag he was chasing for it. I wouldn't say no to it and spend some time building it, she is looking a little rough around the edges now.

you dont need a bare metal resto in all cases to make here look better just some tcl to fix/prevent what ever troubles that may arise or you could let it rust away to nothing :'(

When i bought my S15 around 7 years ago, i paid 24k for it, well out of reach of the Flat brim Yolo punks, who back then, were driving around in VN commodores and the like.

 

My car is in as good condition as it was then (immaculate) and ive spent 20k on it since i purchased it. And yet now, within the last 2 years, more and more young punks have been able to afford them, as they have now dived into the 10k range. I wanted to sell my car, id be happy with 17k, id never get that. My car is one of the best examples out there... maybe its worth hanging on to, as all the 10k S15's are thrashed out crap boxes.

 

I want a more practical car for a daily driver. I want a Forrester XT, to do up tastefully. But i don't want to let my car go for 10k. Shame i  don't have the room for the S15, i really want to hang onto it. Maybe i should wait until they all get written off and they skyrocket in price again.

 

Same thing is happening with old KE70's, and AE86's.  The " YOLO punk Drifting crew" (who i will stereotype as the punk skateboarder kids who have now grown old enough to drive) are getting hold of them, whacking on some  sick JDM wheels, dumping it with blast pipes and everyone of them thinks its the best car in the world.

 

I blame the internet, and cable TV, and Facebook, and the dumbing down of the generation. Now all these kids don't want to spend the effort and time to do things properly, that's too hard, lets just cut corners to get a certain Look to get as many likes as we can on twitter and facebook.

Of all the S13/14/15 versions, the 180SX TypeX  mdel, will be the mst valuable in years to come.

 

Will keep the one we have here, get back to me in 20 or so years, see how we go.

FWIW I think the original cars will go up in value as more and more get modified like 50RTA, how rare is an original 240z these days? I mean properly original? Like this RX-3 original?

 

Not many, I can't recall the last time I saw a car like the RX-3 (but a Z) for sale. Apart from Edwards Lee's car - which he isn't really trying to sell (and I don't think $40k is unreasonable either).

I think its silly to say that flared cars wont be worth anything though. It was a factory option/part after all and one model even came with them standard!

You look at the cars that have actually sold for big money, just as many have been flared as not in my opinion.

i agree, i mean I'm doing flared guards on my project and I'm doing that because i like the look.

if you like the datsuns in original condition thats your opinion.

i love an aggressive stance on a z car so I'm building my car to suit that look!!!

and can't wait to drive this flared beast.

Majority of mods are reversible; if you decide to sell your zed, the new owner will waste no time removing flares, and other items that don't suit his/her taste. As long as you don't have a fully tubbed ladder bar equipped  zed, you'll be safe.
