Engine number is important to some people - especially those interested in period correct / originality. Modifications etc are of interest too - remember the intent is to track the history of the cars as much as possible. A field length restriction will prevent people from documenting every switch / bolt that has been replaced.

It's been a while since I had some electrical work done but as they have to do stuff at the fuse box I would estimate at least 300 to 400 Gav. Probably more these days.

The drift guys must replace the entire suspension set up in them and stiffen the chassis a fair bit! I owned one many moons ago and it was by far the sloppiness handling car I've ever driven.

Bodywork is finished. Final buff etc was Thursday. Is now with a shop to finally fit up the Fujitsubo exhaust and headers (they'll do it super quick on the hoist compared the 3 days of constant swearing it would take me in my tiny garage at home). It's then off to the trimmers to get the interior sorted, a sparky to get the electrics sorted and I'll need new tyres. A few bits and pieces I am sorting out/finishing off while that's going on but hopefully blue slip is only a couple of months away. Beyond blue slip there are things I will want to restore/replace otherwise they'll annoy me: -pitted door handles - crappy modern style stereo (this is definitely NOT going back in the car) - bumper rubbers and over-riders - clean/paint/polish the wheels The when funds are back up it's on to the engine work.........

Anyone looking for a Zed and thinking this is is expensive - take it from me that if I could turn back time I would have hunted for something like this (and been willing to spend it to buy it) with what I have spent so far on a resto........ And my car was advertised as having been taken back to bare metal a few years before I bought it ! I'm guessing that's the case (repairable) but I suspect the body shop is pushing to get the car re-assembled and not wanting to do something that detailed......

My car is being re-assembled after paint and they've only now told me the quarter Window frame on the drivers side is too rusty to use. Anyone have one that they don't need? EDIT: Have now sourced thanks

I'll jump second in line for the combination switch/indicator switch and cowl if Gav doesn't take them. Don't suppose you have quarter Window frames?

There's a member of Sydney Datsun club who's a mechanic for Lube Mobile if you're getting maintenance stuff done. He's a 1600 guy but is good with Datsuns in general. Did a bunch of work on my car.

Thanks Gav. I rethought the colour a few times but every time I ended up thinking of the factory colour code sticker (that I hope is still there but doubt it). They didn't talk paint types with me but I wouldn't have had an answer for them anyway.

With the car having sat in the brake shop for a few weeks while they waited for parts (job was meant to be done while the hi-fill cured so should only have been there a few days) progress proper stalled for a while, but has picked up again over the past 3 weeks. I might have some of these out of order (i don't understand the painting process that well. Ha ha ha. This one perfectly proves out my point - interesting paint, nice wheels, even has fender mirrors for something different. Things that on most other cars would have a positive impact, but it still looks like a bucket of crap........... but I still want it.............
