Failing this can anyone recommend one of the places that does repros?

Hi all Anyone have a passenger side sugar scoop spare and in reasonable condition ? Would have ordered an FG repro one from the states but panel beater is wanting it ASAP. Not concerned as to whether steel, FG, Original/repro etc. Cheers

I've got one but it is with my panel beater still and from memory is in similar /worse condition. Will see if I can swing by there this week though

Unfortunately the late 70's early 80's boxy looking cars in general I think have not aged well and are not considered a "classic" look yet. I pointed out a 280ZX to my wife one day not long after buying my 240 and she said "God it's ugly - I'm glad you didn't buy one of those".

Still thinking I'll pursue this. Pricewise conditional rego is about $65 per year, including admin and plate fees. This includes green slip cover. Someone with a NSW registered Z could comment but I'm sure you'd be looking at $800 or $900 for full rego including greenslip so this is a massive saving (even after paying club fees etc)? In terms of proving roadworthiness I need to get a blue slip done anyway so I'm comfortable with that, and would be happy to fork out for a roadworthy each year (I would be getting one for full rego anyway!).

Haven't spoken to the guy for a week or so but presume all is good. Yeah sounds like the same people - I'm sure the guy said his wife runs a pizza shop. I think they try to make money on the side flipping cars. There was a bit of a discussion on here a while back about it

If it's genuinely rust free and completely original then yeah I think it might be worth it. I find it hard to believe that any unrestored example is going to be totally rust free though, unless it's been garaged in the desert its whole life

Someone reseraching this car will still find this thread - it's more the other way around - that someone googling for example "Z432 for sale" will be LESS likely to be linked to Edward Lee's website.

By March or so next year mine will be looking similar to this, although it'll still have the 260z factory mag wheels and headlight covers are not currently high on the priority llist

Fair few have done it (including some members on here) and some of the USA car mod shops sell kits to make it less painful. Google is your friend here. Also take a look at the hybridz forum - plenty of modded cars over there.

They also do a bunch of other Z fibreglass stuff (including some quite hideous body kits) if anyone is interested.

I am currently talking to a fibreglass place in the USA that does FG door cards for Z's (as per most of us my original masonite ones are shagged). I know there has been plenty of interest on here before in door cards so I am looking for expressions of interest on a group buy - the guy has indicated he can definitely do a deal on shipping and would take a look at what he can do on unit price if we order a minimum of 10 pairs. Nothing concrete as yet so no guarantees, but if people could let me know if there is genuine interest that would be good. Thanks Gents I thought about it quite a few times, but decided to stick with the factory colour in the spirit of reasonable originality. Other jobs will be the fiddly crud I've struggled with: body shop has a trimmer and a sparky that they work with. I'll get them to do the seats and carpet that have been sitting in my garage for over a year and will probably order new vinyl, along with sorting out why my lights won't work. Will get them to fit up the Fujitsubo exhaust and headers as well. Other job that still needs doing for blue slip is replacing some of the hard lines on the brakes so that will be done as well.

Paint is coming off and the first batch of photos has been emailed to me. Must say I'm disappointed at how it looks underneath, given it didn't look too bad and was sold to me as having good body, but feeling much more that I made the right decision. Glad I didn't just finish off the minor stuff only for this to start coming through...........

Well with the house move, reassessing Finance and my lack of skills etc the decision has been made to get the car panels off full body restored and all the other odd jobs done professionally. Thankfully I have a supportive wife (who is also sick of the car sitting dormant in the garage). Dropped off at the body shop this morning. The enjoyment of the car, along with the prices fully restored z's are fetching, will make the wallet pain worth it. Be interesting to see completely what lurks beneath the dodgy respray.
