  1. Yep fair call. See you all soon.
  2. Think this is the one that Jason mentioned just after the bend:
  3. In - driving the family wagon though I dare say
  4. I can't remember the cost but mine was reconditioned by an outfit in Sydney (can't remember who either which is not real helpful !!). They often require blasting and painting as well as all the diaphrams replacing so reco is up around the same price. $300 seems pretty reasonable to me.
  5. Small update. The fettling on the Fujitsubo exhaust (mentioned here: http://www.viczcar.com/forum/topic/12239-fujitsubo-legalis-r/page-2?do=findComment&comment=177270 ) is done. The trimmer has started work on getting the interior back together, so all going well I should have the car back next week. Last jobs left for rego will be new tyres, getting the buggy lights sorted and getting the speedo cable re-attached/tested (for some reason it was not attached when I got the car and I suspect it may mean the cable is damaged). It's been an expensive process to outsource so much of the work but it has meant I'll get the car on the road A LOT sooner, in better shape than I could have achieved and with my sanity and family life much more in tact ! Otherwise I could have been here in 5 years time still wishing I had a roadworthy Z to go for a drive in....
  6. Heat is also apparently a good thing to soften it up to lift. The body shop that did my car used a heat gun.
  7. Pretty sure a couple of the recent 60k cars had L28s. There's a thread on here but matching numbers is not really applicable, as not all Z's (particularly early ones) have compliance plates to tell you what number they had from the factory anyway
  8. I'm out again for this one. Had forgotten how busy weekends get with a slow house renovation!
  9. One for Gav http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/231945200837
  10. Ha ha I keep freaking out with the 113 green and the fujitsubo exhaust thinking someone has pinched my car
  11. That's confirmed what I want to do wheel wise! Congrats on a nice Z in what is clearly the best factory colour!
  12. I've been told as well (not sure if accurate) that auto trans tunnel is slightly wider, allowing slightly larger boxes to be used in a conversion. Not measured but I doubt the truth in what I was told. As Gav mentioned above (and mentioned in this thread http://www.viczcar.com/forum/topic/1378-step-by-step-how-to-auto-to-manual-conversion/)part of the tunnel needs to be trimmed suggesting the auto tunnel is actually slightly narrower!
  13. Fully sick stance bro............ ha ha ha
  14. MIA at Dee Why or Stewart Wilkins racing are the 2 best L engine builders in Sydney
  15. Can make out the number 91 on the casting but looks like at the end of something rather than the start
  16. So fresh fuel and a clean and all good?
  17. I know the 260z factory alloys have been going up in price but I had to chuckle at $1000 for a set.. . http://m.ebay.com.au/itm/DATSUN-240Z-260Z-FACTORY-ALLOY-WHEELS-/331846752804?nav=SEARCH
  18. Looking good Peter ! Must have been an amazing feeling to get it out on the road. Look forward to seeing it in the flesh.
  19. Glad to see your test bench equipment includes an iron - vital piece of equipment that could be catastrophic if forgotten
  20. The thought crossed my mind I'll admit!
  21. I take your point, however on a bog standard S30 it is not a question that I thought to ask for a product marketed as a product for all S30 models - No caveats in their product info etc.
  22. Confirmation that what Lurch said above about the Fujitsubo Legalis system and fitment has rung true for me. After sitting in my garage for about 18 months they were finally getting fitted up this week and have had an email that the intermediate pipes foul on the auto trans and need to be modified. With what I paid plus shipping to Aus and now $300 to $500 to modify (they're being cut and re-bent) - a custom system would have been a cheaper option. Headers and rear section fit well (need to get a new heat shield fabricated but that was kinda expected). Pictures tell the story:
  23. Hopefully the rising value of parts means also that there is more of an economic case for high quality reproductions. If a manufacturer/fabricator can see that they can sell their part for price $x then there may be a few more niches that get filled, although as always volume / supply and demand also play a part here.
  24. Great stuff Pete. I have aspirations of doing similar things!
  25. I don't want to sidetrack the thread but that annoys me as well - a minimum bid on ebay IS a reserve as it means people can't bid below that !!
