  1. Change his name from the Sirpent to the Phoenix. Welcome back. I've missed your colourful stories from the 80's
  2. Same in the eastern states Great colour and looks like a fantastic job. This car will look too good to race. Maybe you should build another one to race?
  3. I'll come and give you a hand. Need anything brought by way of tools or similar?
  4. Backfiring through the carby due to crappy timing.
  5. Roberto, you wont need an engine bay light - this beast is to tough to break!
  6. That looks shite hot!!!!! Would love to know what the black stuff is called??
  7. Beeb, that's what my plan was if the inside wasn't getting painted, but if the inside gets painted I was going to paint it up before I put the pistons back in. I think I'll put it back together and then paint it. Benny, if I had a serpent's funds, I'd do a serpent job Thanks guys.
  8. Foodie, that is not part of the chassis. The chassis runs down the sills. All that pseudo chassis support does is give some strength/protection to the floor. Some members extend it all the way back to the rear chassis cross pieces and therefore it does more than support the floor, but in standard form is just supports the floor, so you don't do a Fred Flinstone when you step into it. 9. Hi all, trying something that doesn't involve welding for a while I've cleaned up, sand-blasted and stripped my hilux calipers. I will be putting a kit through them. I'm going to paint them. The question I have, as I've not painted calipers before, what's the best way to mask off the cylinders? Or do people not paint the inside of the caliper and therefore mask off the whole inside (where the pads sit). Obviously it will not be seen, but I'm just inquiring as to where the benchmark is set by others. Thanks guys
  10. Sorry guys, I've been away. Thank you for all the answers to my question. It all makes sense to me now. So after the big 6 pot calipers, it's bigger disc time This explains why the 11" discs on my old 800kg Alfa pulled it up like a dream - in fact too well at Calder when the discs stoped but the drive shafts kept turning (in-board discs attached to gearbox and drive shaft ran out to the wheels) thanks again guys
  11. Has anyone thought of putting a 2-3 mm plate between head and block? Or even running with 2 head gaskets?
  12. This should come with a warning that it may distress some viewers! If you are squeamish or sensitive (Lurch) avoid 2:05m For the hard of heart:
  13. That's where the AusZcar.com sticker goes.

    Coilovers?

Your first picture confuses me. It appears that you have dropped the threaded sleeve onto the original spring seat. This will raise the car and only give the option of further raising it. The original seat should be removed and then the threaded section welded on further down (about 100mm) lower than the original seat height. I could have it all wrong from your photo. Sorry if I have - look at the time of the post before the flaming starts. MaygZ
  15. But changes to king pin inclinations do
  16. Alex, I have a set you can borrow for nearly as long as you like - the only problem - they're in Bairnsdale :'( Give me a call on O41 double nine double 7 double 4 7 if I can help. MaygZ
  17. I've just been 'Beebered'. I think I laughed so hard a little bit of wee came out!
  18. Sorry Kobes - Jumping in for a thread HIJACK ----- Running a SUPERCOACH league and need a couple of players - League # is 625423 We are not a serious group. It's all just for fun. We've got my daughter, my wife (who hates footy), cousins, nephews, in-laws and few blokes from work - even my CAT has a team (mainly to pi$$ off a brother in law). We don't break any records. You are welcome to join. I think you need to have your team in before Thursdays game - you can't choose any Sydney or GWS player now though - as they have already started. Please have a dip - I only need three to finish the league. MaygZ
  19. Which leads to he obvious questions? what are you doing with the other one? AND How much do you want for it? (have I mentioned how much I just LOVE Adelaide? South Australians are the finest people in the world. )
  20. That's just what I bought and it cost a grand - 2 & 1/2 years ago
  21. So now you only need to tighten the nut behind the wheel
  22. I've got one you can have, but it's in Bairnsdale Vic. I don't remember where you are
  23. Dismoon?? get it? not Dat Sun, but Dis moon. rofl yes? Bugger off. Have a look at the time and I've been working all night. That's as funny as I get at this time of the day.
  24. Jamo, I need some help to understand this. My manbrain tells me that braking force will be determined by the amount of friction created at the disc surface. I would suggest - and I'm not an engineer or a physisist - that size of pad would be a significant contributor to the friction equation. Obviously keeping pressure and pad material constant then pad area would make a massive difference. I take your point that if you can increase pressure it will improve braking force, but I can't get my head around that different pad size will not affect braking force. A little experiment that I did as I was trying to work this one out was: I placed the pad of my middle finger lightly on my desk and dragged it towards me. I then placed my whole hand on the desk, with as close to the same force (arm effort) and dragged that towards me. Obviously this is a huge increase in 'pad' size, but the friction increase (resistance to drag) was substantial. Please help me to understand. I promise you that I am not taking the pi$$, I really do want to understand. To the rest of you - stop dragging your hands across your desks and get on with your work!
  25. Looks like the Porkers will try anything to pass a Zed. Seriously tho'; glad no-one was hurt.
