I love you guys. So supportive. Postage was $39 from NT. Brand new still in box. Hope it fits. Said in the ad 240/260/280Z. So I'm sure it will fit or when we do Sirpent's run to the centre, I'll squirt up the road to Darwin and use it as a suppository on the seller!

Gav, I'm sorry that your girl has been violated by some roosterheads. My advice is (and whilst this advice may well sound a little flippant - it is truly how I feel about these things) is to remember her how she was and move on. She will never be the same for you again. You will always find yourself wandering what else they did to her. She has changed as a result of her trauma and so have you. Some of the damage and the scars may not show themselves for a while, but they are there. A new girl will be a fresh start; a chance to build a new and different relationship together. Sure you wont know all the background of this new girl, but that is good for both of you. It will be a journey of discovery together. A chance to mold your relationship based on both your findings during this journey. This new relationship will be different to the old one - it may be better - but it will be an honest and caring one. Good luck MaygZ

Justin, That's not a part number. It is a model number E-FD3S is an '86-99 RX-7. The bendix number is DB-416. Now try and get a brake parts dealer over the phone at 4:20 pm on a Friday to go to the shelf, unwrap a set and measure them (accurately) for you. Go on try! I dare you! You are so young and naive. Lucky you use Proactiv to keep your skin looking fresh and clear. George OK Bendix list the db416 as being: 107 x 46 x 14mm. Doesn't say whether the 14mm is pad material only or total thickness. I would guess that is only pad material but who knows? Seriously, who knows?

Roberto, your car is looking farkin' fantastic!! I love just about everything about it. MaygZ I would love to see both your's and Mick's in the flesh. Never thought I would say it, but now that's two good reasons to go to Adelaide

Thanks Guys. What year/model is a EFD3S? Never heard of that model, or is that the part number of the pad? Whittie, while you've got them in your hands, could you please measure the pad thickness, including backing plate? If they are new? MaygZ

I'm happy with what is required for the rears. It's the front pads that I'm curious about. If my plans work out then I will have found possibly the easiest fix for the front wet up. If it works

Giving the body (Zed's not mine) a break for a while. Getting brakes together as seen in photo. Thought I would post up a photo of a road sign that I found out near me. Easily the most exciting road sign I've seen. It didn't lie either. While you are reading this, can someone please tell me from which model RX7 should I source pads for the 12+8 calipers? I'm told that they only need a small mod to fit. Can someone also measure the pad thickness, including backing plate for me? I'm thinking of a mod for the calipers, but before I go down that path I want to make sure the pads and a 25mm disc will fit between the piston tops. (Please don't start another thread on hilux calipers or which ones suit which etc - once I've finished this research and mod I will post up my findings)

Replacement Panels or Sourcing Panels - Help Needed
MaygZ replied to AndyFrank's topic in General Discussions
http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Datsun-240Z-1973-LHD-damaged-salvageable-/221010041830?pt=AU_Cars&hash=item3375399be6&clk_rvr_id=336529904288 G'day. I think this is something you should seriously consider. Before the prang, I'm lead to believe that this was very well restored. The price probably won't rise dramatically due to LHD. Take what you need - lots of very pretty interior bits also - and then sell off bits that you don't need. There is a good chance you will re-coup much of you investments and get panels that you can see are straight and fit well. My 2c. MaygZ -
Put a block of wood under the go peddle and tighten the nut behind the wheel - you bloody hoon

Cars For Sale (3rd Party Sites) Ebay, Carsales etc..
MaygZ replied to gav240z's topic in Cars For Sale
A little off topic but: I was at a car show last weekend and saw something amazing! It was in a convertable and I think it was an early Fiat. It had a record player hung under the dash. It looked OE. It played 45's (ask your parents if you don't know what that means ) -
So $200 (ish) to have a de-compression plate made and then never wrry about it again. So who has an E88 head laying around for sale? $250-300 for a clean head $200 - 300 for trueing, inserting hardened seats and matching the valves from your current head $100 for head gasket reduction in stress - priceless.

Mick, I forgot to mention: We've got these things over here in the Eastern States and in the big western State (read proper Australia) called 'gutters'. I see you have them too, but we put them on both sides of the road! We then match them up with 'nature strips' and 'foot paths'. It's really quite pretty at times. It's been all the rage over here for the last 30 or so years, so I guess you guys will catch up in the next few years ... or so. I suppose the advantage you have over there tho' is that you can still buy brand new 240Z's!! I love your car. It looks farkin fantastic! Might just send my shell over to you. On something called a 'train' - they've been all the rage since the 1800's ......

I am soooo hearing you brother!! Then the 6 days seems too long for them! I've been doing it for 18 months. It sucks HARD!

I may have started some of this My comments related to how good your car was going to look when finished. I love the colour and the attention to achieving a good finish. My reference to it being too good to race was simply in reference to it looking too good to race Racing cars, in my limited experience, don't appear to have the detail and good finish that yours will have. In fact some have looked like they were painted with a paint brush! They probably were! Some sort of protective coating over the first fwe inches of the nose may be helpful at preserving the front finish - so will good brakes Enjoy and I'm sorry if my comments weren't clear in the first instance. My GOD. The 80's have got a lot to appologise for! At what stage in the human decline did someone think that that combination of tacky plastic and stomach churning velour looked good together?? The outside doesn't look too bad. At least it's in good condition -
At page 51 - he should have finished his 3rd one by now!!

I had to laugh. You shop like me!! A healthy room creates a healthy workplace. She will be much happier in a clean room and so will you. Look at getting a decent air compressor as soon as you can. You wont even realise how helpful they are until you get one. Bunnings and the like do shelving/bench kits some of which are good and sollid. They then bolt together for better strength. I think that setting up the shed can be as much fun as working on the Zed. Other things to consider are a cheap laptop and a cheap digital camera. That way you can easily take photos as you go and store them. You can then refer to these photos when you are re-assembling bits and pieces. (You can also upload them to here faster ) A clear coat on the floor will help protect it from spills and the like. This can help keep the boss happy. Good luck and have fun. MaygZ
