  1. Justin Beeber! Just stop it. You're confusing some folk.
  2. Welcome aboard. I hope you realise you are now on slippery slide from which you will never escape. Hotel california has nothing on Zed restoration/ownership. There is no such thing as a stupid question - just stupid people. Simply ask a question about your 280ZX and they will answer it for you
  3. Hey John, how was the probe? Did they buy you a drink first? It wouldn't be the same without an inane comment from me :-)
  4. What Jason said. You just can't put a wise head on young, narrow, pretty shoulders George
  5. Put a multi-tester on them and select the gears. That will tell you which on is the reverse and which is the neutral/park switch. I would suspect that, unless neutral and park are managed separately, that the third would go back to the ECU to tell it which gear you are in. MaygZ
  6. Happy Birthday Jason. May you have many more days with the sun shining on your right arm, the wind in your hair and the sounds of a screaming L6 in your ears.
  7. Good diagram. Just missing power to he switch. There you go Stivva. Easy done. MaygZ
  8. Just another stat, Justin. Just another stat. Lucking this thread is dead now or the one that fits between us in height would be growling at us for being naughty and hijacking a thread. By the way did you know that the word hijacking is one of only a few words that have 3 or more letters in the same order that they appear in the alphabet? There are a few that start 'def'. Can you think of anymore? On the subject of spelling: there are many words that contain 'oo', 'ee' even a few with 'aa', but I can only thing of 1 with 'uu' and 1 with 'ii'. Can you think of any?
  9. OK, now I'll put myself out there to be burned: A relay is effectively a switch. You put it in your current light circuit but earth out the other side. That is to say you run power from your switch (unless our light switch is the earth??) and then earth the other side. Your light switch simply needs to complete a circuit through the relay. The relay has 4 pins. To the another pin you run a high power wire (direct battery feed if you like) and then the last pin supplies current to the lights in place of the original wire. You can run a larger wire here (4-5mm). In this way you original switch is only running a low current that then only operates another switch (relay) that then carries the higher current to your lights. Relays, like anything have their limit, but almost any that you buy at supercheap/autobarn/repco/Moorabbin Auto Spares will be fine for the amount of current you will be able to run. It's about the size of a matchbox and can be fitted in the beautiful engine bay you have of stuffed up under the dash out of sight. Up to you. There is a wiring diagram on the bottom of the relay itself to show you which pin does what. Considering the level of work you have done on the screamer so far, you will find a relay a piece of pi$$ Let the flaming begin!!!!
  10. Good thread! So there appears no doubt hey are better and then even better again if we use Redline Water wetter, or Penrite Sin coolant. So now where is the best place to buy them. Are the local sources just as cheap as evilbay? Which evilbay stores are good and which should be avoided? maybe some store links could be posted of people's positive experiences? Ash, do you sell these? MaygZ
  11. I think strut bracing is a great idea. I look on it as a bit of cheap insurance. You may never need it, but if you do, it will cost a small fortune to repair the damage done. The thing is you wont know that you need it until the towers flex or split. For the sake of less than $500 it can be prevented. MaygZ
  12. The width of the bottom of the hatch of a coupe is 1050mm. Hope this helps MaygZ
  13. Long shot:- Anyone travelling south from Brisbane in the next few weeks that might have room for 4 wheels (no tyres) and a set of flares??? It would be awesome if you were coming all the way to Vic, but even Sydney or Canberra would be helpful. Please let me know. MaygZ 0419977447
  14. PM sent re wheels and flares
  15. Matty, what colour and offset are the RB's? MaygZ
  16. Love the paint. Your bumper problem could be solved here: http://www.viczcar.com/forum/index.php/topic,10202.0/topicseen.html MaygZ
  17. Pete, I'm confused Why do you paint our Datsun motors 'Ford Blue' and a little Ford beastie 'Nissan Gold' ??
  18. Jason, I just had pictures of romantic dinners at your place sitting at the dining table with the mood lighting provided by fuel tank light shades hanging about the room. LOL
  19. WOW, two whole photos. That should easily get him the money he's looking for?
  20. May I please request that no further post be made on this thread? Please.
  21. It's clear as mud. I've cut this out of the Vic Roads RW guide: "The outlet must be located so as to avoid direct entry of gases into the passenger compartment and must not extend beyond the plan of the vehicle." http://www.vicroads.vic.gov.au/NR/rdonlyres/AA944BA2-1210-460F-94BF-069159D224F8/0/VSI26web.pdf - page 6 There is nothing in any literature that I can source to say it must come out the back or a particular side. There are lots of people who say it must do this and do that or it's (?) illegal, but they don't quote any source or reference. I have found restrictions on vertical pipes and catalyst and silencer and emissions but nothing else on design, other than it can't run through the cabin, and from another Vic Roads mod sheet (link in earlier post) that regulates protrusions. I recall reading many (and I mean many) years ago documents regarding exhaust exit angles (up, down, left & right), exit distances/clearances, but I can't find any such documents that are now current. It would appear to me that as long as it is secure, clears the road by at least 100mm, doesn't leak (water drain holes are NOT leaks), meets the relevant noise emissions (98dB for most of us) and isn't likely to cut or burn anyone - it would meet all the requirements. (emissions are a seperate issue ) Hope this helps. MaygZ
  22. Sounds great Justin.
  23. Your doing some good work there Fuzzy. Looking good and some good progress.
  24. In Vic, the exhaust may exit at the side of a vehicle, however it must be rearward of any door of opening window. http://www.vicroads.vic.gov.au/NR/rdonlyres/9B3A858D-15A0-4572-90BF-3D08214BF7BE/0/VSInumber8Guidetomodificationsformotorvehicles.pdf
