  1. The set up in QLD is pretty loose, originally it was done for old horrors like T buckets and model A ford, etc, that were in original cond and not modified, that got stretched out and now it is quite "loose" compared to other states, we know it can be abused hence the requirement for incorporated car clubs "dating" officer to approve a car for ergo, the requirement for annual membership in some QLD transport offices is often not asked for, hence some can get away with continual Special Interest ergo plates. To even try to get State Gov and QLD Tpt to do what we tha car enthusiasts want is nigh on impossible, but if they get a whiff of a possible revenue raiser like charging for issued logbooks they will jump onto it like a flash, I am sure! Btw I will keep an eye out for a limo h190 a rally guy up here has a couple I can ask him, he posted a for sale on Oscar a couple of months back. Aegean, please join a car club, just in case a Transport office asks you to prove membership. As Pres of Z club QLD you are welcome, if you don't want to be in the Sydney mob!
  2. Your sidebar says you are in NSW yet you have QLD SI number plates. If we as club members, abuse the system the scheme will be cancelled. If a non club member is abusing the scheme, ie not complying, and we all loose the scheme, well a lot of us won't be to enthused! One option to not displaying the S I xxxxxx plates is to opt for a traditional plate in white on black that starts with the letter N O or P these are allowable under the QLD scheme
  3. Vl commodore turbo injectors will replace the stock 280zx ones, flow approx 270 cc vs 180 cc, on stock computer it will run very rich, but play around with the signals going back to ecu fro the AFM the water temp and the air temp sensors, use variable resistors in the feeds and tune on dyne. Idle will need to be higher. I breathe through a stock single 48 mm diam tb, but it has been made bigger internally and has some mods to the way the air flows into it as well as inside the manifold. Way lease cost than a full 6 itb setup and just as fast, as some have found out!
  4. Look to reducing rotating and reciprocating weight, and the things that ave to go up, stop, and go down a lot of times a minute, the other go fast stuff helps to enhance this. I pulled 14 kilograms of weight out of engine internals, using stock crank, forged pistons and rods and a STEEL flywheel. Do not contemplate using the cast iron fly!
  5. I'm back this Saturday, will get some pricing and pics up asap, supply is very good, ie I order on a Monday, I have them by Friday, posted to you following week. Only hassle is exchange rates and I can only order in smallish quantities otherwise Aus customs slaps duty and long delays on stuff, this happened recently with a largish order of pistons and con rods recently GGGRRRR!
  6. Matt, i' back this weekend, if there is anything I can do to help you nail this one let me know, jet lag permitting. Good luck, and drive hard, don't forget, when you come into each corner and lift of the gas, hover over brake, say 123 then brake, you will gain meters, and the car will still do what you want. Zen starts with a Z Boomshanka
  7. Can get them in from Japan direct if SW is not able to supply
  8. Seriously they should be encouraged, but may need a gentle pm for some forum advice and assistan Eleventy eleven should be a number but, and so should twelvety twelve!
  9. Eleventy eleven is a good number, it comes after tenty ten, which is right after ninety nine.
  10. The guy at darra, well it is actually bullock head st sumner park is ray Barnard, it is western suburbs Diffs and gearbox, whatever Steve and Nigel at Newmarket Rd Windsor cannot do for you, ray will, but just slower. Ray runs a Chev nomad wagon in top door slammer drag racing, and is very knowledgeable. But try the guys in Windsor first, they know our R series Diffs, only thing is if the clutch plates in the limo are too far worn for bringing pre load up, you will need to get onto stew Wilkins for some plates. Btw the plates come from a isuzu rodeo ute!!
  11. Nah at moment I am in Kusadasi Turkey, that's a bit run down, but not as bad as parts of Bulgaria. The lap time I did at Nurburgring was not really that great, at 13 minutes, as I had a wet first half, safety car an crashed BMW on back section, I kinda went silly at the blind Eiskurve, couldn't get the Essex before the front straight right, the Opel Corsa saw 195 kmh, and was a bit floaty at that speed, but the Ring is very addictive for sure. Anyone know a Bernie Hollis?
  12. I'm overseas till July 22 and my iPad won't reply to or send out emails, but good old trusty Auszcar forum is my only link to the rest of the world from deepest darkest Internet dodgy parts of eastern Europe! Anyway a Bernie Hollis emailed me after the adjustable timing tensionets for L6 engine, if he is on here get him to pm me back Thanks Oh by the way some of the remoter not so visited places we are going to are pretty cool, but decayed, run down neglected, but nice. Thanks Jason
  13. $19 k will get you something quite reasonable, it will just be a matter of time and patience, the good ones do exist, and do come onto the market.
  14. This would be around a $ 20 to 25000 car then. What $ do you have ready. To go for close to what you are wanting?
  15. Gee whiz, that brings back memories, I did a three year apprenticeship in fitting and machining, with welding option there back in 1985 to 1988. Was a great place back then, good staff, mind you, I won the top apprentice award all three years running. The car park is a bit light on, and don't drive your good car there.
  16. Or talk to me, I have one or two that are available, a quite stock one, and one part modified with a far more recent engine combo. I won't be available till July 22 nd, as I am overseas. Or contact the QLD Datsun sports owners associate to see who has what for sale
  17. stewWilkins can supply, will be for good money, will be new, can also supply a very special fabricated gearbox mount that will solve all issues , or, get your existing member as it is, thoroughly clean all grease, then get some liquid urethane compound made up and pour it into the voids of the old centre and crossmember eye mounts, for a quick and low cost stiffen up!
  18. Oh dear, When you order these from a wheel retailer, you can specify either four or five stud, also square shouldered lug holes or tapered lug holes, of you get tapered get them done with steel tapered inserts. Don't get involved in a five stud conversion, as this adds weight to unworthy components. You could also be a bit naughty and further lighten the rims in a big lathe, when you find out what they weigh! I had eight of in their 15x8 lightened by 1 kilogram each, makes a difference, but then again I just use these things on a race car. Hunt for pricing, I dunno wher you are, but in Brisbane, Craig Hornibrook is best on pricing, he runs a low overhead true an rim shop, does good performance rubber too
  19. Performance industries occasionally run a batch of 200 in 15x10 with a neg 26 mm offset, so plenty deep dish, the style is a 5 spoke, called Challenger, similar to Bathurst Globe, prolly cost around say $350 each
  20. Autobahns are a def hoot, today was spent tooling southwards through the very empty roads in the Black Forest, as it isn't holiday season, the run from Pforzheins to Villingen-Schwenningen was oh so nice, did stop a couple of times for photos but.
  21. I got one of those "special" rear guard flares if you want it, the little car it came off has been sold, ring the lad to arrange!
  22. Righto, what happened, spill the beans! I just had a half day at Nurburgring, in an Opel Corsa Turbo, lots of fun, will be back in 12 months or so, and will stay a week, half day is WAY too little. Currently in Sth Germany, outside of Saarbrucken on our drive leg, in a VW Golf GTD, the autobahns are fun, I'm doing 190 and big black German things flash headlights, and goody, we can't even make out the license plates. The Opel Corsa managed 210 kmh got a bit light so eased off
  23. I'm interested in the 4.3 and the 4.6 but only if they are the big pinion bearing type, ie the shaft diam is approx 34 mm, the smaller bearing type shaft size where the pinion bearing is pressed on is smaller at approx 28 mm. Offsets on these are different depending on pinion shaft diam sizing, and therefore some will not fit into the alloy carrier. Jon, I will assume these are all cast iron housing/ carriers, ex 620 or 720 ute/ king cab trucks. Thanks
  24. Also in pics the blue Bolwell Nagari Hardtop iis Ranald McLurkin, a friend of our Melbourne side of the family, and in the white Bolwell convertible is my old school teacher, Alan Edwards. Recently I caught up with Warwick Steed and Col Matheison, ex Datsun racers and we had a jolly good time reminiscing, and most of the cars in the pics above were discussed tamales son is quite active on here!, maybe he could ask dad to recall any of the older Datsun race cars for us?
  25. What was the issue with the brakes, when you say on trailer, I take it that was when you left home, what could have gone wrong? It is a shame you couldn't get a run at Lakeside, it is a nice track, and one to be treated with respect
