Got one, it's in a 4.375 r200 complete unit, tight, no backlash $1200 located Brisbane Grrr get a quote from "E-Go" on the web, my postcode 4061 to your postcode ? Just sent a crated engine to Melb for Shan on here, $120 for 200kgs in a big wooden box, and a head went to country Vic for $80

When you hit one cone, they add 10 seconds to your time, when you take out the lot, then you are history! Just to make it hard, they TAPE the cones togethr so you do a maximum. Guess who got a maximum!!!!!

Here's a thought, the L28 shan is shortly about to recieve, is coming inside a very nice sturdy snug fitting crate, and I put two decent bits of timber in the base for the sump surround to sit upon, (so the sump pan wont get bashed in and oil pick up all bented!), when Shan pulls the L28 out, vertically, he can drop the L26 into it, ready to send to someone else. It can be a MAGICAL mystery tour crate that can be tracked on it's world wide journey, each time someone sells/buys/swaps/exchanges and engine, or large items. A special Auszcar forum crate. A sort of communal crate, a bit like the garden gnome that was stolen and travelled all over the worl, with pics taken and sent back to the gnomes owners by the varoious gnome gnickers. first pics coming soon.

Reason? We was wanderin past a travel agent, and popped in and asked about last minute cancellations by other travellers, and managed to jag 7 nights in The Hotel at Mandalay Bat=y in Vegas for nix dollars, just had to get there and back, and thought we'd stick in an extra 7 nights in Frisco, and 'sides, I have just pulled the engine out of the Datsun Sports 2000 and sent it off for a freshen up, ( oil pressure down and a bit of blowby, and it had run up approx 46 hours of hard race use), and I get it back in early July, so with a few weeks spare, why not!! And be buggerd if I am gonna leave my kids any inheritance! -

Off to Las Vegas and SanFrancisco, and, sorry to say, I will be back, ha ha. Heading off for a couple of weeks, just after I send Shan's motor off to him, have put out a couple of "feelers" on Classic Z and Hybrid Z wondering if I can get some track time in at either Vegas Motor Spedway, or Infineon Raceway in Frisco, with some fellow USA Zeffers! ( I'll be lucky ! ) Anyone need something brought back!!! Going over light, coming back maxed out on duty free spirits, and electrical crap. Shoulda put this in the "courier" section, but it's be the longest distance member to member service, I'd reckon. I'll def be back for the Qld round od the Historic National Race meet on July 24/25 at Morgan Park Warwick, so you rellat can't get rid of me that easy!

P 90 head at 53 cc comb chamber was the turbo head, along with the 7cc dished pistons, make sure head has not been shaved,m as this will up the comp. The F54 block was the "stronger" block, (fitted to some 280ZX) One of these dropped onto your original block should do the trick, leave the rest of it alone, or, if wanting a bit more insurance, do a ARP main cap bottom end stud kit, use some decent conrod bolts, ARP or whatever, and, a Head stud kit, rather than the stock head bolts, better sealing and accurate torque setting. Insurance costs, but worth it!

Um, in NSW I had a CAMS logbooked formula libre hillclimb special from 1986 to 1992 that was originally built in mid 1970's in Moorebank NSW by a guy, last name Farrell, ( no, not the more well known Farrell clubman builder), he and his brother constructed a single seater special, fitted a McLaren M4A body and a VW transaxle with the cw&p reveresed for four reverse gears and one forward gear ( think about it), and adaptor plate, and a L16 engine on twin 45dcoe's. When I bought it, I then fitted a L20B and had a VW box guy rebuild the box with a close ratio set, and ran it at oran park, Catalina park, and Amaroo park, along with some runs at Amaroo hillclimb, and Silverdale hillclimb. In mid 1989 I moved to Qld, and ran it at Mt Cotton hillclimb a few times, when on my last visit in it, in 1991 , I was on the start line giving it the usual tyre warm up, when I snapped the crank. ( sticky tyres!!! ) Got the shi#s with it and sold it to a guy who lives around the corner from me now, he stripped it right back to bare chassis, and found heaps of cracks on the welds. He has done nothing with it. I have a few decent old style prints of it in action. I'll scan and post some time! Best fun was in the wet at Amaroo one time, when I beat a Formula 5000 Chev V8 engined open wheeler, ( mind you he was on slicks and I was on intermediates) next meeting at Catalina in the Blue Mountains, he just got me, by farken HEAPS !!!

Clutchpack plate LSD R200 4.375 ratio nice and tight and no backlash on gears at the weight these are it will have to be a pick up, or, I could box it and arrange freight, at your cost! Sell complete assy at $1200 no probs to pull cover off for you to have a look internal when you is here! pm or ring 0403 071 294

get pics soon, basically it is a flat steel plate laser cut to clear all rotating assy, with from .2 to.5mm clearance, the clearance is adjusted by the very small amount of clearance in the holes in the scraper that the nuts (if using studs), or original main cap bolts into the caps. There are no mods needed to existing parts in sump. They even have laser cut the hole for the dipstick! It is made by a Co in the US called Ishihara Johnson ( google is good!) One only first in gets it.
-
Made for L series 6 cylinder, one only, bought as a spare, for my old race motor, ( still have one fitted to existing) It misses the rotating crank/conrods by 0.2 to 0.5mm and stops HP robbing oil mist and windage , and gets the oil back down into the sump quicker Laser cut and very accurate. Made in USA sell for $150 includes postage to anywhere in Australia pm or phone 0403 071 294

FYI, the "king" model is the one with a turbo, these will be a better brake setup than the "queen" (non turbo) The calipers arent much chop, but the rotors if still in good nick and thickness can be modified to suit a Z hub, height is close, but pcd of mount bolts is 103mm, prolly use the caliper, but a hilux vented caliper would be better. hope this helps!

Oooohhh Fergs hay! He is a wild and wooly fella, comes down from them thar hills, it's a bit of a ruffie sports sedan thing, bit of a wild paint job, and he pushes it pretty hard, but, like I was mentioning, take a "wrong" line for turn 1 at top of main straight, this will get you the correct exit for turns 2 and 3, with a faster exit from 3 down to the wiggle, oh, and do watch the last turn hard right coming onto the main straight, remeber slow in and fast out. I reckon you two will be neck and neck. I have run up against him at Pittsworth, and Gatton, remember me to him, he will recall the red roadster of mine!! He is a nice guy though, say Hi to him for me, oh and take pics and video and post up, or i will never talk to you again!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Oh Gee Whiz, that would be naughty! It doesn't need to be in Japanese but in English, it was SOLD from a USA Dealership! The letter/sales delivery docket had the car listed, then the dealer listed the part numbers and fitted them as options on the new car. The options and part numbers are those listed in the Options Parts Catalogue, under brakes front and rear, rims front and rear, fender flares front and rear. I am so very sure that someone somewhere will have very old documentation that will heve this sort of stuff on it, because, there are the similar documentations for old British and German sports cars WITH THE SAME BLOODY STUFF ON THEM ( Carbies, brakes and rims) Now does anyone have any old USA dealership printed material?

Luvemfast, A twincam head would have them screaming out "NO WAY" It really wasnt sold new like that, or was it? Was it a dealer fitted option on a new car? The HEC and CAMS rules bsically state that "competion variants" are not allowed, the twinkie head is deemed a "competion variant" Benji, that wheel info I have, it is good 'cos it does show genuine Nissan Part Numbers, and, I already have a full set of these original factory wheels, that I run on my Datsun Sports 2000 in some events. If I can show that certain items such as vented brakes, 4 piston calipers, rear discs and calipers and wider rims were able to be fitted by a dealer, and, (these items would not have upset the EPA/Pollution Emmissions guys, like triple Mikuni's would have, ) then I have a chance to get them approved. My Group Sc 280 injected has almost enough oomph, ie I can stay alongside the 911 Posches and the 351 cubic inch De Tomaso Pantera, but I run out of brakes, and do not have rim width, these guys have massive rims, and massive ventilated brakes fitted as standard, or as optional by their dealers, I just need to prove a Datsun Dealer SOMWHERE in the WORLD fitted big brakes and big rims to the Zeds, especially the late USA 280z injected model! Ie some obscure USA or Canadian dealer that was motorsports orientated/enthusiast, and supplied new cars with these items, and had Dealer paperwork/letterheads showing this, or something like this, with part numbers and prices as a total for a new car. Something like, "Hello San-Francisco Bay Area Datsun Dealer, I'm Clint Eastwood, and I wanna buy me a Zee car with big brakes and big wheels, man, but, I dont wanna upset the EPA boys, with big carbies, well, I feel lucky punk, git me a Zee car" Thanks, please keep info/suggestions coming.

Input so far is good, however, I do need some sort of evidence, on a Datsun Dealers official paperwork ie; an invoice/quote/sales sheet, etc, that a 240. 260 or 280Z was able to be BOUGHT NEW, with things like, Sumitomo MK63 front calipers and vented rotors, disc brake rear setup, and wider rims, and Mikuni triples, and ZG nose, and fender extensions. That is all we need! Maybe someone somewhere has some old dealer sales sheets or letterheads??? Yes these parts all have Nissan genuine official parts numbers, and were very easily able to bought over the counter at any Datsun Spare Parts section, BUT, we have to show that these were fitted to a NEW car prior to delivery by an official Datsun dealer. I have heard that the Japanese Police Dept were "SOLD" new 240 zeds with some items fitted by Nissan or its dealers, anyone heard anything or more to the pont can prove with documentation. Does anyone have any documentation at all that may be of some usefulness??? CAMS Australia, will be governed by the recomendation from the Historic Elegibility Commission as to whether to allow such items to be able to be fitted. I just have to prove to the HEC, that they were in fact fitted, and bingo!

Thursday Nite 27th May At No 4 Ross St Newstead, it is the Shannons Insurance office, all welcome, kicks off at approx 7-7.30 pm, Guest speaker attending, few Zeds in the parking lot too. Come along and see what the Qld Z car Club is all about, no prssure to join up, but if you do, we are CAMS affiliated so you can get your level 2 Speed licence for events at Morgan Park, or Mt Cotton, or Leyburn or or or??

Flexhone, the type that is like a bloody strong dunny brush, with lots of little balls in the end of wires, and a very strong drill, insert and hold on, at slowish rpm, but with a good up and down action, to give decent cross hatching at approcx 45 degrees, and remove it while still spinning. Easyish to do, and can be done in home workshop, Other method is machine honing using a device that is expandable, and has very fine grit stones on three arma, again same deal up and down and round and round. Stting up require a bit more machinery /mill, honing machine etc. It's all a bit like a Luna Park ride!

I am as old as my tongue, and just a little bit older than my teeth. December 1962, I think I'm 47 ? I cant be sure, I get confused. I was 7 when they made the first Z !

Or for that matter anywhere in the World, where the 240/260/280 Zeds were first sold as a new car. I am after good quality clear to see and read copies/scans of ANY, and I mean ANY brochures, sheets, lists, details on what any Nissan/Dasun dealer, ( Japan/USA/ UK/ Europe/ Australia etc) was able to supply and did supply, as optional sports parts on any of the Z models, specifically, Rims, Brakes, Discs, flares, Tyres ( sizes). Yes, I have all homologation papers for the Zeds, and lists of optional sports parts that Datsun was able to supply, for all the Datsun models, BUT, what I am chasing is actual lists of parts that you could option a Zed with when it was sold new. I dont want mirrors, carpets, bootmats, mudflaps, tint, and Ming rust protection, but meaningfull performance stuff that could be, and was fitted, to a NEW car. I have been told that in Japan market Datsun fitted some Zeds with some "option"parts that were then sold as new cars to the Japanese Police Departments, this sort of stuff??? Why? So I/we can go to CAMS Australia and get the permission to upgrade the narrow rims and brake discs, and stock calipers so I/We can be on par with the Porsche 2.7 and 3.0 911 Carrera's in the Historic production Sp[orts Car Group S races as held in Australia. There are seven or so of us that are in need od better brakes and tyres, We have to PROVE that these parts were fitted as Dealer Options when sold new. ATM the stock items are barely adequate! Any and all help much appreciated. Links to sites, or pass the above message on to whomever, etc etc Thanks, Zedders of the World !!!

did/does it run the small water pipe from the bottom of the back of the head ( rhs)to and around the front of the head into the thermo housing? I found ( with competition motors) that they can get a hot spot at back of head. Also I use the "Frank Tonnitto - TEFBA" top radiator hose inline filter, it has a screw cap ( dont loose the fine square rubber oring seal!! ) and it is amazing how much fine particles of "gunk" comes out, and would have gone into the radiator, even with a hotanked cleaned engine that has done very few k's. Clean out and run a tap into head bolt holes, surprising how much gunk comes out of these. Water somehow finds it way past the threads and sits in the bottom. Snap on ( damn pricey stuff) make a neat tiny up your nose and down your hole viewer scope thingy with a LED light, It is very surprising to see how unclean a supposedly clean block can be.

Ooohhh Puleeease It is a "Sports 2000", not that effiminate girly "Fairlady" moniker !!! Lurch, it is a true CAMS Historic classed Group T car, ie a "Prod Sports with a race history" and it is in it's original as raced spec. from 1969, as opposed to a standard "Prod Sports" that has to comply with Group S regulations. On the entry lists the events for the Sa/Sb cars also had, at the bottom of the pages, Group T, that was lil' fat ol' me !!!! May 1/2, last weekend, ran it at Eastern Creek, same thing, as a T car with the Sa/Sb/Sc guys. Next meet will be Historic Warwick July 24/25 couple more pics from PI 2010
