  1. try local NatRad dealer/shop Holden HxHz V8 rad fits, top outlet is a smaller diam than ours but it can work, and is approx 10% more water volume, bolt holes to our rad support panel need elongating. Good for a 260 shell, not to sure about earlier 240 shells.
  2. gotta win the award for "Closest to North Pole" Cool No pun intended!
  3. Was a FoSc event, same mob that run Bathurst at easter Races for Historic Sports car, Historic Touring cars, Marque/Prod Sports regularity, approx 200 cars attended, jolly cold, was down to MINUS five degrees on way out to track on Sundau Morn pic is of Chris Gray's neat 260Z ( dark green, just behing white Porsche of Nick Taylor), oh, and, some numpty thinking he is a motorcycle!! Apparently, Datsun are thinking of a two wheeler. It wasn't even over the kerb!
  4. I'm in Queensland, and Dimitri has even helped me out too!!! ( old rear brake components) mind you i drove all the way to Phillip Island and he was there waiting for me with a box of bits under his arm!! And he takes nice photos of cars as well!
  5. I'm gonna need one for a cute little Datsun 120Y i have entered in the Targa High Country tarmac rally, in November. Just what info do i need to supply to Vicroads to get this, and as i am not in Vic, can it be done over the phone or by internet? Do I get the insurance component with the UVP at the same time is it included? I can "use" an address in Victoria for the purposes of the UVP, I just need it so i can drive this little old Ditsan around the Mansfield area for a few days!! It was last registered in Victoria in 1994, and it still has it's old number plates attached and an old rego label on a window, and I have an old Vicroads rego certificate/label thingy. Any one who has done this please school me!
  6. how many you need, you want the short or tall ones? I think shorts are for five spoke 280zx, and talls are for four spoke 260z What was fitted to the early 280zx iron Cross style rims??? I'll check qty's I have a couple of 4 liter ice cream buckets filled with these and plenty others. In the olden days they called these things- "Knave Caps" did anyone know that??
  7. Well this is looking very popular, we now have 45 people wanting to do this, with 30 of these being Zeds, so we have now booked THREE goups of 20 ie 60 cars maximum we can take. Price has been confirmed with the track operator, and yes you do get to occupy a carport, and have up to 5 track session for the day. If interested and you havent yet put your name down with Dustin Marshall, get in QUICK see above for his contact deatils. This is shaping up to be bigger than a Z nationals, and it was just a vague though and a "why dont we try this idea..... LapZ at The Lake !!" and bingo 45 runners
  8. pic of mine with 15 x 8 and 225/50 x15 rubber, front guards are fine, rear guards have had a bit of lip trimmed from 10 o'clock to 2 o' clock All works well. Note to lurch, this is when I am not in Historic group S mode !!!!
  9. UPDATE Guys this is now definately a goer, We ( Z car Club Qld) are going to purchase two blocks ie; 40 car spaces ( 20 per block) for Sunday 17th october, we have 34 EOI's with 26 definates, and will no doubt fill the whole lot up very quickly. There will be a block of up to 20 cars for the quick/experienced, and a block of up to 20 for the slower first timers/come and try etc. Once all 40 are paid for and booked we cant accept anymore, A mob called "Track Attack" may have some slots in their two blocks on the day but you will be with allsorts of cars, like Hyundai excels !!!. COST will be $130 for this you get entry to track, a carport to park your car, 4 or 5 sessions on the track, eash session is 5 to 7 laps, and we will try to organise a BBQ lunch ( snag/rissole in bread) For full details ( when we post it up) check out website zcarclubqld dot org dot au. To book in to this cantact: Dustin Marshall Vice Pres on 0405 124 145 or email him on duz@tpg dot com dot au All, yes ALL, are welcome, you dont need to be a member of Z club Qld to participate and there is no pressure. What we are also going to try to do, is a lunchtime parade of all Zeds in close formation on the track ( for particpants of the day only) for photo opportunity etc. Redcliffe Nissan is backing us with prizes and giveaways, and we will be doing a media promo to celebrate Zeds and the Zed Club Qld
  10. This would be from the easter meeting in 1970. Jolly damn shame this pic and any results were not from the year 1969, as this would put the 240z in Historic Prod Sports category Sb, instead of later 1970 to 1976 group Sc.. I wonder if it ran BETTER brakes, ie; Datsun option vented rotors and Sumitomo MK63 four piston calipers??? Anyone have any idea at all how to find out??
  11. Morgan Park Qld, July 24/25 Historic National race meet. group Sc Datsun 280z on 14x 6" rims and stocko brakes, came second in all three group S races, behind a lotus Twin Cam Super 7 Series 4. 280z best lap times was 1.13.1 ( natsoft race timing site) <<<<<< Yep this one
  12. the guys in Z club Qld only announced this a week ago, and already the starting list reads as below Some of these guys ran at Bathursrt over Easter! we are calling it "LapZ at The Lake" and will do a group booking of 20, and it looks like we may do a second group book of 20, you get a full days sprinting, a carport to park your car. Revised List and some added thoughts … Maybe it might be an option to secure 2 group block bookings…. Even if we get 15 cars in each it will be cheap….. I think we can get 30 easy. LapZ at the Lake 2010 Dustin Marshall Cameron Lepp Timothy Marshall Rob Learmonth John Cade Greg Alderding Jason Lea Jason Lea Jnr Chris Richards Richard Greenup Dave Healy Richard Graham David Robertson Peter Hetherington Stuart Elphinston Aubry Hughes Wilbur Graham Neville Munt Greg Hutley That’s 19 booked in already Plus maybes – Mark (invited guest), Jason(invited guest), Robin Evens, Lea Faulkner, Chris Price, Jason Hassard, Mike McKelliget, Brett Kelly, Jon Siddins, Kim Ewart, David Gainer, Geoff Goodwin, Alan Croft and more…. ----------- If you know someone that would be interested please send them an email…. We cant confirm a price yet but it will be cheaper than track attack or QR prices. Dusty ZeeVeePee
  13. For a weeks skiing on Hokkaido Island ( Niseko?), then a few days in the cities. Was thinking of trying to visit the Zama Nissan wharehouse, and also calling in to Shigeo at Kameari Workshops in Kameari prefecture. Any other suggestions/hint/tips on places to go and things to see. I'll have to wife with me, so no girly bars! Going mid to late January 2011
  14. has anyone tried using the two ( cant recall which) either lhs or rhs tie rod ends off a 280zx, Apparently either both from one side only of the zx will go onto a z Someone in the rally/dirt game mentioned this "quick fix" a while back, they are longer than z units.
  15. Some of the Qld Z club guys are gonna attend/enter a one day sprint meet at Lakeside Raceway on October 17th 2010 ( petrie /Kurwongbah area), and are looking to get as many Zeds together, if we can "fill" 20 positions the event organiser may give us runs all together, imagine that 20 zeds in a row belting around Lakeside, and hopefully all be garaged together. PHOTO HEAVEN !!! QR/AASA license ( clubman) reqd, can be purchased on the day, along with long clothing and a helmet, and basic car safety, fire extinguisher is a good idea etc. reply here for further interest, and we ( z car club) will do a booking if we can gert 20 runners. You do not have to be a member of any club or Z club to come out and have a play, but you are all welcome to join in the fun, even if your Z isn't a goer, bring out your daily runabout, heck they even get Hiunday Excels on the track ( eeewwww)
  16. sorry short notice, but this Sat/Sun 24/25 july HRCC qld is running their National race meet, some 24 cars competing, John McKeons Marque Sports Z ( for sale on here), Jason - dat2kman's very quick prod sports 280Z also for sale, Jon Siddins running some other Nissan thing ( pintara race car) and a few other Zeds entered, Plus sure to be some parked in the pits. bring a camera, and say G'day to John and Jason Report to follow next week. Morgan Park complex ( big area) is approx 8kms south east of Warwick, approx 150 kms from Brisbane, up and over and down Cunninghams Gap ( nowhere nears as fun as Black Spur !! ) Dont speed, they are in Golf GTi's.
  17. To any Queenslanders interested in just even having a look at this car either up close with your camera, or in action it is entered for this weekends National Historic meeting run by HRCC Qld at Morgan Park Warwick, July 24/25 2010. I am alos taking my prod sports 280Z and there are a couple of other Zeds running and spectation, along with some 240 other racing cars, best day is the Sunday, all get three races each. Come along and have a chat to John about it, and check out some of the other cars as well.
  18. All welcome, come along for the funny repartee and banter while we discuss all things Z, and lots of other absorbing stuff, like racing our cars, and the big ( 50 members attending) Xmas in July social run. Kicks off at 7pm and 4 Ross St Newstead it is at the Shannons insurance office, who kindly let us use these rooms. You dont need to be a member just rock on up and get to meet a few of us fellow Zedheads. Look forward to meeting you Jason El presidente
  19. They look quite good, only drama is getting the rubber window glass seal to fit over the fibre glass lip, as this is a bit thicker then the original hatch steel lip, most who go for the f/g hatch then go for a plastic windo ( lexan/perspex) and use Sikaflex to fix the window to the surround, it can look neat and almost original until the window starts to scratch. You could try Sikaflexing the original glass into a f/g surround?? They aren't the worry, it is f/g bonnets that are the worry, but only for cars down Conrod at Bathurst, ie approx 220 kmh plus speeds, couple of fellow Qlder's had theirs ripped off and it flew some 60 foot into the air, and landed some 20 foot off the track edge, they got it back, but then used some rather ugly beefy alloy strapping, and four bonnet pins to make sure it didnt happen again. Check out the post re Qld Z club racing at Bathurst in the Racing section, a quite funny and interesting read
  20. fwiw try Diff & Gearbox Ind in Newmarket Rd Windsor, Steve there is doing most of the Z Car Club Qld guys diffs that then see regular use at Morgan Park. For bushes and mounts, try Fulcrum rather than the red colured mob that uses a bull in their advertising. They are at Webster Rd Stafford. Unless you are looking at a bit of track use pass on an LSD fitment, exxy and no great benefit on street driven cars. For hydraulic rebuild brake and clutch, try BHSS, used to be in Albion, but I think they are now all the way out east Cleveland way??
  21. Well done RG !! Think I might finally stick a blower on one of mine now, not!
  22. car currently has a Nissan Option box in it, Has not done much work in last year, had new Michelin radila slicks fitted approx 18 months ago. Jon 9 vandieman) give Johhny Mckeon a ring direct on 0407 781 846 and ask him all you want to know about. It is a nice grunty full on race car, and in the hands of someone who knows how to peddle a car well, is a very moorish car to drive. You just dont want to stop doing laps. leave a message for him, as he is on tour, I think???. I am in Brisbane, the car is at John McK's place at back of nerang on the Gold Coast. If you are KEEN, I would strongly suggest you arrange a physical inspection, as a whole bunch of pics just woant show what you should be seeing with your own eys. Lex, who built it up, he posted here, should also be able to shed some light on what he did to it. BTW My Historic Group Sc, CAMS logbooked 280Z is now for sale, at $45000, or you could buy James Fletts Sc 260 for $60000, it is a tiny bit quicker than mine!
  23. Ooh souded very gnarly at Mt Coothe hillclimb, well done Matt. Toldya Jimmy m puts a decent one together. We been talking hypotheticals, and came up with using a tiny stroke L24 crank, knifeedged, nitrided etc, a L28 F54 block, get it soniced to check wall thickness, and if good, whack it out to 89mm bore, forged (approx) 29mm pin height slugs, and some REAL LONG forged rods, approx 140mm? whatever, to suit crank centre to deck height, steel flywheel, blah blah, a p90 head, 47mm valves (int)with 4mm sliced off the face, the special timing chain tensioner, and OER 48mm itb's, it would need mating to a close ratio box, and as it will produce root all torque but BAGS of high 9000 RPM HP, it has to go into a lightweight ( VERY) shell. Hey guess what, there is the Lime Green240 here in Brissie, and it;s owner is seriously thinking about it! ( The supercharged L28 in it ATM isn't his, it has to go back to the engine owner , 'sides the SC sucked ballz, and wasn't set up and never worked too good eneways)
  24. took approx 3kgs off then add the kgs that came off slugs/rods/flywheel/balancer total reciprocate/rotate weight reduction approx 14kgs.
  25. here's an "after" shot
