There are the usual places in the USA that have OEM 240Z left side door mirrors, but none have the right side. Are the right side door mirrors available still? Any links greatly appreciated! Thanks

I am another one who reckons that colour rocks! I like the wheels also! What are the dimensions/offset on the rims? Where did you get them and what did they cost, if you don't me asking

A little patience is a good thing too And what Cozza said above is good advice. Just to add what I have done(which is very similar to the advice above) Make sure the two Phillips head screws stay put during the process too. I took a cheap centre punch to a bench grinder and put a nice point on it, much like a nail (you could use a nail, but it needs to be a damn big one!) Then you can make a indentation on one side of those headless screws with the pointy centre punch and a hammer and then continue to use the centre punch and said hammer to tap them babies loose. I don't mind the colour of that 280ZX, it's just those stick on stripes or whatever you want to call them. Remove the stripes and put on a wide set of mags. 280ZX's can take some wide rubber with plenty of space beneath the guards and the right offset mag. But at the end of the day, it's still left hand drive. And it's going to cost to convert it to RHD both in time and money. Luckily parts are supplied with the sale. Sounds like the dash being supplied will need a re skin for a start and who knows what else might need attention. At the end of the day it's going to cost money on top of the 20K purchase price to get it to where you want it

You're right about the old Taiwan made bonnets having fitment problems. You always had to elongate the mounting holes a fair bit to get it to line up properly. I'm interested in a bonnet and radiator support panel complete with the backing sheet metal for the headlight buckets

Sorry to hear about the issues with the car. Sometimes the bargain you think you are getting doesn't always work out. There are some sweet 280ZX's out there, but they usually go for between $10-15K A bit more than 2.5K, but then restoring yours will set you back even more. Rust is a problem for all Z-ZX's and fixing it properly doesn't come cheap unfortunately.

Yep, saw that 280ZX as well. I agree with others here that the seller is dreaming if he thinks he's going to get 20K plus for that car. Those strips are butt ugly too! Shame as I've always had a soft spot for a 2 seater 280ZX

'280ZX-Starting At The Bottom' If you had purchased a 300ZX(first series,Z31), I would have agreed with you! You could have done a lot worse than a 280ZX And at least yours is a series two. Has rack and pinion steering, R200 diff and C/V drive shafts. Shame it wasn't a manual So what needs attention? Can I ask what you paid for it Hope it all works out in the end

I'm excited Just placed an order with Z car depot, needed a weather seal kit. Couldn't help myself and I ended up grabbing some other bits and pieces........totalled just over 1K including shipping, which isn't cheap! At least I'm a little closer now to getting her back on the road

Dang, I cleaned all that stuff of my 240Z not to long ago. Used fly spray to kill the spiders. Then fed those pesky rats living in the shed a last supper consisting of rat bait. After all that I am going to have to buy one of them there kits. Lucky there's a 'buy it now button' I hope all the spiders survive the journey!

First thing I noticed is that some of the interior trim is black, door cards and trim in the rear hatch area etc. The rest is blue/grey, seats, dash, carpets etc. I'm betting the dash has seen better days and so has the carpet dash cover! The leading edge of the bonnet is very rusty as shown in the pics and would not really be salvageable. Check for rust in: the battery tray area, look under the carpet in the drivers and passengers footwell, sheet metal around the petrol cap, check around the windscreen and rear hatch, chassis rails can get pretty banged up as well and can cause problems when it comes to getting a roadworthy Being a series one 280ZX it's going to have a drag link, steering box set up as opposed to the rack and pinion steering in the series two. I'd spend a little more and buy a decent example and save yourself a lot of work at the end of the day. Good luck either way!
