Hi Guys, I have a 1976 260z coupe with a faulty vacuum advance cannister. Any ideas on where I could get one in Australia. The Zstore in the USA has them but with a wait of 2-3 weeks and us$103.00 delivered. :'( Thanks David.

Hi Chris, Try This. Establishing the correct idle jet for a given engine is not easy but usually an approximation will make the car acceptably driveable. If the progression is weak then the engine will nosedive when moving the accelerator from smaller to larger throttle openings. A certain amount of change (richer/weaker) to progression can be achieved by varying the air jet size on the idle jet; this alters the amount of air that is emulsified with the fuel drawn through the idle jet. If this does not richen the progression sufficiently then the next jet size up, with the same air bleed should be tried. Below is a small chart showing the most commonly used air size designations, running from weak to rich. Generally speaking start your selection with an F9 air bleed. Weaker Normal Rich F3 , F1 , F7 , F5 ,F2-F4 ,F13 ,F8-F11-F14,F9 , F12 , F6 The ones in normal use are F2,F8,F9 and F6. Regards David.

Hi Jake, Looks like you have a Crane XR700 electronic ignition trigger. It would have been attached to the ignition module. I have one on my 260z. A good simple system which has been on my Zed for about 4 years. Regards David.

Hi Guys, I have been looking for a set of strut inserts to replace the shot Monroes in my 1976 260z. I have just ordered a set of Tokico Illumina 5-way adjustable inserts from the USA for AU$622.00 delivered to my door. They also have cheaper inserts, Tokico HP (blue) and KYB. The seller is (JDMWERKS13) and I found them by typing (260z shocks) into the ebay search and scrolling down to the international sellers. I tried to buy local but the prices quoted and the variety available made it better to buy overseas. Hope that this helps anyone after inserts at a good price. David.

Hi, It's unfortunate that you have a problem of this sort, but you have to bare in mind that we all drive 35 year old cars and any parts that have not been replaced with new can be prone to metal fatigue or wear. Luckily it didn't come apart when you had your foot to the floor in fifth gear. David.

A few years ago I bought a 280zx Fairlady that had a L6 2000cc efi engine for various parts. Gearbox, diff etc for $100 . The body was stuffed, But I found $13 in coins behind the seats making it an $87 car. It made my day. David.

i think its been droped as ive noticed lowering blocks and the rear leaf springs have been positioned on the highest position= car lower. Hi Mate, Can't see lowering blocks in your last picture but the lift kit fitted to the end of the rear springs will lift the car. These are attatched to the original anchor points for the springs to raise the car. Only good if you want to fit fat tyres or give the car a raked look. It raises the centre of gravity as well. Not good for high speed. All in all, it looks like a nice project. David.

I really enjoyed the video. It brought back a lot of memories of when I lived near Bathurst and raced back in the 80's. It looks as if the car handles very predictable. What suspension setup do you have. Once again,well done. I'm envious. David.

Good photos Peter. I only had the photos of when everything was back on the car. I didn't have to move the hole as far as yours because I had the bump steer spacers on the bottom of the struts. David.

I gave my 260z a christmas present and put the triple Dellortos back on after reading about everyone else playing with theirs. ( Dellortos that is ). David.

Hi Rev and Pauly, I already had fitted alloy bumpsteer correctors to the bottom of the struts, but these were not doing the trick. After a bit of research I removed the cross member and used a cold chisel to remove the washers on the inside of the holes for the control arm. I then used a centre punch to mark the location of the new holes. I welded up the original holes and drilled the new locations on the centre punch marks. I then fitted the control arm bolts with the new washers on the inside of the crossmember and held them in place with clamps, and spot welded them with the electric welder. Prior to removing the washers I had measured the gap between the holes. After welding the gap was a couple of mm closed up so I just fitted a bolt with 2x nuts and used this to spread the sides. I only had to drill the holes 13mm higher and out 4mm to make the control arms and steering arms parallel on my car. Then a tidy up with a file to get rid of any sharp edges and dags, and hit it with a can of paint. Off to the wheel aligner for a toe-in adjustment and hit the road. Hope that this helps. Hi, I had a similar problem in another car recently. The regulator in the alternator was burnt out allowing the battery to discharge even when the key was turned off. A new alternator had to be fitted. Take you car to an auto sparky for a checkup. David.

Hi Dave, Take Zedmans advice and replace the broken bolt or you could be in for major expense if the pressure plate comes adrift. In fact replace all of the bolts. If you over stressed one bolt than the others may be as well. Buy a tension wrench and do the job properly. A tension wrench should always be used and manufacturers recommendations adhered to unless you are a backyard cowboy. It's you life and you passengers that you are playing with if you do botchy jobs. Hi Guys, Don't know if you can take it as gospel but the only info I could find regarding the difference between the RB and the RBR series is that the RBR is for rear wheel drive fitment. They have a lower offset than the RB and a bigger lip. Apparently made for drifters. This came from an American webpage. Regards David.

G'day, Try priming the oil pump with STP oil additive. The stickiness creates suction. I had a new L26 motor about 4 years ago that would not show oil pressure when cranking over on the battery, so I hooked up the electrics and fired it up. The oil pressure came straight up. This was safe because the bearings all had been lubed with STP on the rebuild. Regards David.

Hi Sach, The fuel leak will be from a blocked pump jet. Remove and blow through it. More info required as to what changes you made when fitting the manifold and over what period of time.Also check the plug leads and cap. What fuel pressure are you running. Should be about 2.5 psi. Regards David.
