  1. Red ebay car went for $7000 http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/261648911641?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1438.l2649
  2. Guilty. It's my "Devil Z - The before replica." Devil Z replica of how it sat in the Junkyard in Wangan Midnight. You get to make your own Devel Z after Replica
  3. Thats not a side impact bar Gav, thats just to stop your doorskin caving in when someone leans on it. Impact bars are substantially thicker gauge steel and all bendy/corrugated for strength, like this one from a 911
  4. Ditch those wire wheels for a start (Sell them to a 260Z 2+2 owner, they seem to like them ). Get a set of JDM style mags, lower it a little and add a front and rear spoiler. Other than that, don't waste money on it (unless you can afford to). Keep it serviced and running, and just enjoy it. eg: http://www.jdmeuro.com/tag/s130-280zx/ or http://farm9.static.flickr.com/8320/7991038829_c58dc8996e.jpg Repainting it the right way will cost a lot, and you won't be able to drive it in the mean time. The car looks to be in pretty good condition already
  5. Going once.... Going twice.... Sold to zeds4ever. Sending you a PM, Alan.
  6. Had a commodore once where that was done, except they used newspaper.
  7. Model for model, they are pretty much the same. There was some variation to the type face, (and IIRC some speedos started at 5mph), but later260/ 280Z gauges have different mounting arrangements. However it is possible to take a 260Z gauge out of its case and mount it in a 240Z case so that it bolts back into the dash correctly.
  8. Have these old 260Z badges from a 2+2. Most have either one or no pins, not in the best condition, but if you have a beater 260Z thats missing a few emblems..... Postage is $8.00. Price: best offer.
  9. L26-142549 on ebay http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/L26-Engine-Datsun-Nissan-260z-240z-280z-motor-/131328951403?pt=AU_Car_Parts_Accessories&hash=item1e93d0c46b In Vic
  10. Just a reminder, this is on tomorrow. Weather forecast is for a nice cool day, 22 degrees and cloudy.
  11. Its not a Z engine though. It's most likely from a 240K.
  12. This Sunday people.
  13. Hope to see one or both of these cars at Z Day, if you can make it down to Belmont http://www.wazregister.com/index.php?title=Z_Day
  14. Just when your are managing OK life taps you on the shoulder and says "Hey, f@%k you". Might have to sell all my Datsuns :'(
  15. I found this today. 350Z is the number 1 killer of drivers of all cars sold in the USA. Devil Z stuff indeed. I expect its due to a high powered car at a relatively low price, meaning younger inexperienced drivers get them, and get themselves into accidents. After watching this video years ago, I thought they were reasonably safe cars
  16. Full set of 260Z mags on gumtree: http://www.gumtree.com.au/s-ad/banjup/wheels-tyres-rims/datsun-240z-260z-original-alloys/1056506351 also http://www.viczcar.com/forum/index.php/topic,14920.0.html http://www.viczcar.com/forum/index.php/topic,14576.0.html
  17. Have been watching all the Alien movies. The special edition of Alien 3 makes a lot more sense than the original theatrical version. Adds another 30 minutes of story, so you don't just have characters randomly disappearing for no reason. Watched Prometheus last night. Tonight is Alien vs Predator. Edit: decided to watch Predator first.
  18. Shannons legends of motorsport. Was all about Jim Richards. They had his HR31 on set, which as an HR31 owner was very cool. He said it was one of his favourite cars to drive.
  19. Saw this on the weekend. Dodgiest looking trailer I've seen on the road. Looked llke it had wheel barrow wheels and was wobbling all over the place.
  20. I wish I could.
  21. Ah yes, I remember hearing about that one back in the day, when you had to go to the movies or rent a DVD/video. I've never watched it either. Watched "The Double" http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1825157/?ref_=fn_al_tt_1 Apparently based on a Dostoevsky story, written and directed by Moss from the IT crowd, and some other guy. Has a few cameos from other IT crowd actors. The high point for me was spotting J Mascis (from Dinosaur Jr.) as a janitor which says a lot about the movie. I should have stopped watching it after that. Also watched Godzilla. Better than the one with Ferris Bueller. Would have been better if Bryan Cranston was the main character in the movie, and obviously a different story line to suit, IMHO. But then again might have been too similar to the 1998 movie. Wont help unless you know that [spoiler, highlight to read]: 1: she is an alien in human form capturing men to be slaughtered/processed for food and sent back to her home planet.
  22. Sunday 26th October 2014 - 12:00pm to 3:00pm @ Belmont Sports and Recreation Centre, Abernathy Road Cloverdale. Z Day is open to the general public, not just Z owners or register members. Anyone with an interest in these classic sports cars is welcome to attend. It's a great chance for all Z enthusiasts to get together and share technical knowledge, advice and discuss these classic cars. Zed Day will have a special guest : Simon Lingford will be attending along with his 240Z. Simon and member David Moir competed in the 2000 London to Sydney Marathon Rally placing 4th outright and the first private entry. Quite an achievement considering the standard and number of entries. Check out the results http://www.ewrc-results.com/final.php?e=15753 Hopefully we can get Simon to say a few words on the day. The Zed Day sausage sizzle this year will be sponsored this year by Martin Falconer of Tune Right, so a free sausage and bun (while stocks last) with drinks only a dollar! http://www.wazregister.com/index.php?title=Z_Day Update: Have just been informed that Simon Lingford won't be able to make it down, he is trying to arrange someone to bring down his 240z, so fingers crossed, his 240Z will still be there. Also the Club President has asked me to let you know that anyone with any model Z is welcome to bring it down and park it with the club cars, also anyone with a tidy Datsun regardless of model is welcome to bring it down.
  23. Thats John Roxburgh, Driver for the factory supported Datsun Racing Team. He also owned a Datsun dealership. Interview was most likely at said dealership. So it stands to reason that was a 240z that was available for sale.
  24. He works for Google
  25. They generally don't work as our cars chassis numbers aren't recognised as valid VIN numbers. eg, tried HS3000099 and got an error: VIN Accuracy Tips: the letters "I", "O" and "Q" never appear in a VIN the VIN must be exactly 17 characters in length Although, If you can remember the rego plate number, and the car is still registered with the same plates, a rego check would reveal if it is still on the road: https://online.transport.wa.gov.au/webExternal/registration/?0
