  1. Last few days I've spent hours going through the external engine fasteners which I wish to get yellow cadmium plated along with some items vapour blasted for the engine out of #150. I basically took photos, measured thread pitch and bolt length of each item and put them into a bag. Knowing that when I get them back they will be in a messy disorder. https://photos.app.goo.gl/tgZBfcXupb7BPvT19 Photos in the album above for anyone who is interested. I'm also plating some odds and ends like radio casing, steering wheel bits and bobs and any other bits I could find lying around as spares. I had success with my SUs last time and am contemplating sending off another set for the same treatment this time. I also spent time degreasing an old sump which doesn't have any major dents in it (quite rare these days), but what a disgusting / messy job that is. I discovered the factory sump colour must be black with blue overspray. *EDIT - Please ignore numbers in the brackets of the first few images eg: 22x0.5 (1.0). Ignore the (1.0) part. I was misreading the chart on the back of my thread pitch tool box. Some FYI"s to the legend I used. 1. I measured the height of the bolts in mm and rounded up or down when they were not quite a rounded number. 2. TP = Thread Pitch and they are all metric 3. For large lots of the same size I counted number of fasteners. 4. Some parts I think may not be OEM, I added some misc fasteners I had in storage and odds and ends were thrown in, because it makes sense to do this stuff in bulk. 5. Refer to photos for reference of what bolts go together etc.. Hopefully someone finds this useful. I plan to do more of these collections for other bolts/parts on an S30Z. But given that platers mix all of them in together I don't want to do them all in 1 hit.
  2. Ok so I have some pics, but nothing particularly useful to add here. I originally sourced some reproduction trims from Revive Jalopy and had them dyed white. However we had issues with the fitment of the trims due to the fact that there is 2 different trim types for AU market 260z's. 1. Early door trims which are similar in terms of door lock position etc.. as 240z's. This applied to 74/75 model 240z's. 2. The later style which applies to 76/78 door trims. The door lock position is further up the door (closer to A pillar). In the end we sold the reproduction door trims to someone else who was less concerned with perfect fitment and instead I found some black, NOS trims. Then we had them professionally redyed to suit. Which the owner was much happier with. It was an expensive exercise, but options are limited for 260z's compared with 240z's - since less reproductions exist for the later cars. @Hardman your trims are in good shape (or at least passenger side, didn't look too closely at your driver's side door trim) and not water / warped at the bottom or cracked as far as I could tell. Therefore I'd look at stripping to crappy white flakey paint off it. (I don't think vinyl paint flakes like that if properly applied) and look at getting them redyed and perhaps try that chrome adhesive tape? Alternatively find a black set of NOS trims (I do see them from time to time) and redye those.
  3. You can also get chrome adhesive tape on eBay. I thought it was at least worth a try. Stick it on and use a sharpie to trim along the edge? https://m.ebay.com/sch/i.html?kw=Chrome+adhesive&_osacat=search&_from=R40&_trksid=p2334524.m4084.l1313.TR1.TRC0.A0.H0.XChrome+adhesive+tap.TRS0&_nkw=Chrome+adhesive+tape Not sure how long this stuff lasts, but probably as long as the original stuff anyway. @Hardman I managed to source some reproduction as new door trims for a later 260z that I had dyed white to help out a bloke doing a Resto in WA and wanted to get his car *mint*. In terms of his restoration. Let me see if I can find pics of them!

  5. Is your car a 260z? That's a later style radiator support.
  6. Link to eBay listing also. https://rover.ebay.com/rover/0/0/0?mpre=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.ebay.com.au%2Fulk%2Fitm%2F401672674116
  7. It's a beautiful example. Love 110 red. Here are photos before you got it. So people can see it was an excellent car before it was "refreshed". Which I think is always good to know.

  9. Worth noting late 260z's (77) ID plates do not always state the original engine no. much like the Japanese Market Cars didn't have the engine no. only type specified on their ID plates. Example plate. AU market RS30 shows L26 engine type only, not number. North American market 280z (HLS30) show L28 engine type only. No number.
  10. Yeah I think I'll end up doing that over powder coating. But I don't want to "brush" it on. Rather spray it (with respirator).
  11. Are the suspension parts powder coated or painted with something like KBS rust seal?
  12. I believe this car is the same as the car in this thread.

  14. Nice 1, I am considering HPC coatings for mine however. But need to do more research before I fully commit to it, vs say high temp paint like this.
  15. This year I asked Santa for affordable housing. Looks like he is delivering!
  16. Are you still running N27 needles in the SU's? You can easily check. Simply remove the Domes and the piston with it, then remove the needle to check what is stamped on it for sizing. Be careful not go bend or ruin the needle when removing. If they don't come free use carb cleaner to soak them for a while. It might help. What condition are the SU's in?
  17. Does Hung still need a RHD dash sample? I was going to send him 1 to help with the process.

  20. Yes indeed! Just an FYI but my 71 #1415 has 4 screws. My 72 (Build Date Dec 71) has 3 screws #10552.
  21. Early Hitachi SU's on 240z's were 4 screw dome tops. This car has Hitachi (240z) SU's but they appear to have 3 screws, which appeared late 71 and early 72. This car being an earlier 71 should have 4 screw dome top SU's. Not a huge deal, but at some point someone changed them out, for whatever reason. Technically the 4 screws were a bit better, since the nozzle alignment could be adjusted, the 4 screws were fixed into the body (cost saving reasons) and as a result can make needle alignment a bit more of a challenge. But this is a very minor detail (along with a few other subtle differences). I know that feeling... ughh...
  22. A little surprised the S30Z wasn't on the biggest gainers list.. https://www.hagerty.com/articles-videos/articles/2018/12/18/2018-winners-and-losers

  25. I re-chromed my originals via a company in Australia. I have heard of similar challenges with aftermarket/reproduction items rusting again..due to poor quality chrome etc..
